<2> all ive been using ide in our linux boxes so far has been scsi, only the dvdrw being IDE. mainly because the K8WE boards bitch about "no more option rom space" when i simultaneously use sata and scsi and ide. though i discovered the past week that disabling the PXE ROM on the onboard nic frees up enough option rom to run scsi, ide, and sata at the same time. though only using sata for a "backup" hard disk

<2> dumprep. yuck. i disable error reporting because of that crap man. you should see how your system becomes unusable for quite a long time when some of our engineering software crashes and dumprep starts trying to cobble together several gigabytes of reporting material.
