<sartan> and everyone copied it.
<FKnight`> oh yeah
<FKnight`> oh dude
<Ted|Lap> i do actually hate the f lock
<sartan> i 04,05HATE that
<FKnight`> my "edit area" of they keyborad
<FKnight`> no insert or delete
<Ted|Lap> and the ****ed up keys
<FKnight`> I have to unnumlock
<FKnight`> and use those
<sartan> 'printscrn/sysreq/insert' all on one key
<sartan> how does that work
<FKnight`> ok gnite
<Hawkeye> I don't particularly mind F-Lock
<Hawkeye> What I do hate is that on my logitech keyboard it defaults to off.
<sartan> when i press ALT-F4 i expect an application to /CLOSE/ not open a new window.
<sartan> and they regrouped the keys into groups of 3 rather than 4
<sartan> /afk ****in
<kw0lf> hi all
<kw0lf> anybody knows a good app for building custom .msi files?
<kw0lf> I need to build a custom .msi file for acrobat reader 6.0... anyone if thats possible in vb.net or there is some kinda app that can do the trick?
<rworks> Doesn't Acrobat Reader installer come as an MSI?
<rworks> Oh, wait.
<rworks> There is a way to do it.
<rworks> You have to extract the MSI from the .exe...
<rworks> Then you can configure the install using ORCA.
<rworks> Then deploy the MSI via GPO, and *voila!*
<kw0lf> ty :) .. It's an ***ignment for school..
<kw0lf> but does acrobat reader 6.0 comes with a msi file too?
<kw0lf> rworks... you still around mate?
<GarOxid> How do I make users within LAN require login user/p*** to access my shares? (winxp)
<kw0lf> GarOxid: Disable simple file sharing -> Set NTFS security...
<kw0lf> Set full control on the share for everyone... and set sercurity on NTFS
<GarOxid> kw0lf: Where can I find the "security on NTFS" option? (I'm on foreign win)
<a99> OMFG@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

<a99> -28C with wind chill
<a99> LOVE IT
<dynomax> a99: **** I hope thats coming here next
<dynomax> a99: we've had above 10degree temps for almost a week now
<dynomax> theres no snow left at all in the driveway, fields are almost bare...
<dynomax> we had about 2' of snow, theres about 4" left
<dynomax> (NB)
<dynomax> WIn2k... anyone ever have a problem with power saving options... the monitor won't shut off, sometimes it does after i go to settings, and change the time to shutoff, and apply again, it will work for about 4 times, then it stops shutting the monitor off
<Segmental> I got mad today, uninstalled dad's crappy Avast! AV, I installed Symantec AV Corporate Edition on my pc as a 'server', then deployed the 'client av' to his pc and the other pc's in my house, works nice, now i can manage his **** w/o him f'n it up :).
<pale_blue> i'll lay good odds that he'll still find a way to **** something up.
<teebsgrrl> hi
<Segmental> pale_blue true ;p;
<Segmental> teebsgrrl!!!
<Segmental> *huggles*
<Segmental> hi
<teebsgrrl> hi
<Segmental> AHEM
<Segmental> wtf
<Segmental> http://www.dcodesoftware.com/images/symanteclogin.jpg
<Hurz> segmentation fault
<Segmental> i put the username and p***word in and it says unrecongized?
<Hurz> really? let me try
<Segmental> even tho its setup on client pc?
<FKnight`> Segmental: if you're not on a domain, try specifying COMPUTERNAME\username
<FKnight`> of the client PC
<Segmental> o ok
<Segmental> invalid
<FKnight`> wow
<Segmental> it doesnt like the \ and stuff
<Segmental> this blows
<Segmental> it cant be used w/o a ****ing ad?
<FKnight`> !google sav corp workgroup deploy
<WinInfo> http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;EN-US;241141
<FKnight`> HAAHAHHAA
<Segmental> heh wrong kb
<FKnight`> stupid WinInfo
<FKnight`> I've never had that problem dude
<FKnight`> because
<FKnight`> the distinction between a computer being on a domain and not is a lot more subtle than what is generally b elieveed
<FKnight`> the computer *IS* a member of a domain
<FKnight`> it's OWN domain
<Segmental> yeah
<FKnight`> which is named the same as the computer
<Segmental> both server/client pc is on FAMILY domain
<Segmental> so the both are in same one
<FKnight`> but Computername\Administator should have worked
<FKnight`> cause that's what I've done before
<FKnight`> just "Administrator" didn't work either huh ?
<Segmental> no
<FKnight`> you could always deploy manually
<Segmental> well my goal is to have the client see the server side
<FKnight`> it will
<Segmental> for updates, management, etc
<FKnight`> even if you deploy manually
<Segmental> cuz my dad is a noob
<Segmental> k
<FKnight`> go to the \\avserver\vplogon I think
<FKnight`> from the client
<FKnight`> or is it \\avserver\vpclient
<FKnight`> I can't remember
<FKnight`> but there's a CLT-INST directory
<FKnight`> or something
<Segmental> wait
<avrFreak> *HELP ME* please.
<Segmental> Windows Firewall
<avrFreak> *heh*
<Segmental> would that **** it up
<Segmental> ?
<FKnight`> Segmental possibly
<Segmental> lemme kill it on my side
<FKnight`> however, deployment occurs over RPC connection
<FKnight`> so if you can share files
<avrFreak> Please wait until I indicate that I have entered ther entirre lst of symptoms I am having, thjank you:
<FKnight`> it's not the firewall
<Segmental> k
<Segmental> lemme try a share test
<FKnight`> correction, if "Computer Management" works, you should be able to deploy SAV
<FKnight`> try connecting computer management
<FKnight`> to the client
<Segmental> k
<FKnight`> cause it accesses the client the same way SAV's installer does
<Segmental> that worked
<FKnight`> hmm
<FKnight`> firewall shouldn't be blocking sav then
<FKnight`> sav deployment rather
<avrFreak> I swapped out a PIII-450 motherboard, replacing it with an XP-1700 motherboard (note that the Win2K install on the HDD was originally installed when the drive was in an XP-1700 system)
<FKnight`> it's an authentication error anyway
<FKnight`> !install deploying symantec antivirus corporate no domain
<FKnight`> !google deploying symantec antivirus corporate no domain

<Segmental> Local Users and Groups inside Computer Management (remote) was denied
<Segmental> normal?
<avrFreak> Try toi start up, can get to the setup, but asking it to continie and to load WIndoews fails. yIELDS A bsod COMPLAINING THAT ITCANNOT ACCESS THE BOOT DEVICE.
<FKnight`> that's because your IDE controller changed
<FKnight`> and that windows installation is loading the driver for the other one
<Segmental> FKnight`
<Segmental> Local Users and Groups inside Computer Management (remote) was denied. Is this normal?
<Segmental> Could be the prob
<avrFreak> 1) it has already *ACCESSED* trhe freaking boot device, or it couldn't have displayed the Win2K startup splash scrteen it displays just before it dsrops into the BSOD, and also couldn';t dispolay the BSOD (that data is not nik the BIOS, it had toget it off the HDD)
<FKnight`> Segmental that could still be authentication
<avrFreak> OK, now, complications:
<FKnight`> but it could be fw
<Segmental> k
<Segmental> firewall is off
<Segmental> both sides
<FKnight`> avrFreak: The boot process is a bit more complicated than that
<FKnight`> the drivers aren't in use when the pre-boot sequence is occuring
<FKnight`> windows loads the drivers part way through
<avrFreak> a) went into setup, adjusted to boot from CD. Place CD in CD ROM 0 (master device). System gets to the point in the boot sequence where it is SUPPOOSED todetect frives. It just hangs at that point.
<FKnight`> that ain't good
<avrFreak> OK, says I, "I'll show YOU!" so I loads the CD intot he secon dCD ROM (slave device)
<FKnight`> it sounds like you have two separate problems
<FKnight`> the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE is definitely because of you changing the motherboard without pre-staging the windows installation with IDE drivers from the new motherboard
<avrFreak> Alrighty! System comes up, goies through POST, starts to boot. Tries to boot from first CD ()no disk), so it drops to trying to boot from the second CD
