<1> i was listening to OM the other day <1> his vocals are just sweet and they fit in place <2> i think anyone who doesn't drool qualifies for this job. <2> i'm insulted =( <1> now he sings and he sounds like someone shot a car while a few dudes play guitar <5> Just built an XP Media Center 2005 PC and I'm having Audio Trouble. At first I tried to use the nVidia MPU device and despite successful driver install, I had not mixer device. After a few different uninstall/reinstall sessions I decied to give up and throw a Creative SB Live! card in. Same issue, install looks good, but no mixer becomes available. Creative Diagnostic tells me that the Wave Driver Test (and all other tests, except hardware) fai <1> car/cat <1> Sabba: #help <1> kthanks <0> yeah dude <0> I don't know why he's still their vocalist <6> I like that.. "rack mounting servers and other equipment" translated... can turn a screwdriver <7> Sabba; media center is a OEM only product, there's no support for end user hardware integration. <0> the vocals **** <0> every time I hear Geoff on a new QR CD I'm like <5> digidig: I'm there, just figured I'd try the windows ppl too. <0> "Did someone tell Geoff what key this tune is in?" <1> he sounds out of place <1> PLEASE STOP SINGING LIKE YOU ARE AN OEPRA SINGER <1> but of course <1> he thinks OM was juvinile <1> and they didn't have a clue back then <0> peerce: he just "built" a machine <0> sounds like an OEM to me <7> great, then he should contact his Microsoft Hardware Vendor technical resources. <0> peerce: yeah, because doing something easy like coming on IRC and asking a question is useless, cause everyone is an ***hole apparently <7> YOU want to troubleshoot his audio over a chat channel? <0> No. That's why I didn't offer to <0> but I'm not sure how it's much different from troubleshooting a sound card in XP Pro. <0> which we do all the time <6> Ill troubleshoot it... first find the switch labeled I and O.... set to the I position now <0> Windows XP Media Center is Windows XP Home Edition with one application added to it <5> FKnight' It shouldn't be any different so far as I know, but in case someone knew better I thought it would be good to specify MCE. <5> Actually, it is Pro <0> Sabba: with home edition networking <7> actually, tis halfway beteween pro and home <7> its got full file security, and its got remote desktop, but it does NOT have domain membership <5> Call it what you want then, but it can be joined to a Domain. <7> no it can't. <0> it can't joiun a domain <0> not Media Center <1> YES IT CAN <1> YOU AHVE TO EDIT TEH REGISTRY <5> You're both wrong and/or uninformed. <0> I have a media center box 2 feet from me <0> it cannot join a domain <5> Don't have to edit the reg either. Just have to disable Fast User Switching. <5> FKnight: What edition??? <5> And do you have Fast user switching enabled? <0> Sabba "Media Center Edition" <5> 2002, 2004, or 2005? <0> the most recent <5> Those are the editions of MCE <1> still cant join it to a domain <7> MCE 2005's FAQ says... <5> "In earlier versions of Media Center, a scenario where you join your computer to a domain is supported. If you upgrade to Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 from an earlier version of Media Center that is joined to a domain, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 will retain the domain status and credentials. If you remove the computer from the domain to enable Fast User Switching for use with a Media Center Extender, the computer will not be a <7> Can I connect a new PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to a work network or domain? <7> While you can access network resources on a work network or a domain, you cannot join a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 PC to the domain. PCs running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 are designed specifically for home use. Windows XP Professional features, specifically Domain Join and Cached Credentials (Credentials Manager for logons) are not included. As a result, you will be prompted for your logon user name and p***word to access network resour <1> you can access **** on other computers from a domain <5> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887212/EN-US/ <1> i love how that totally contridicts the other <4> peerce, what is the clsid used FOR? <7> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/evaluation/faq.mspx <4> to uniquely identify a file or object or what? <7> Teratogen; a globally unique identifier for all kinda stuff. <4> ah. <7> objects, activeX cl***es, etc. <0> Sabba: That article proves you wrong, thanks :D <5> peerce: You rely on oversimplified retail explanations. I'll stick with technical fact :) <4> can it change for the same object from one windows box to the next? <7> user accounts are even linked to GUIDs <1> i mean
