<0> i can go like 7-10 days without smoking <0> no problems <0> as long as im not drinking <0> and right when my body is about to start fixing my lungs <0> i start smoking again <0> ****s my body up, never knows what to do <1> can i ask a ms access quesiton here? <0> you can ask anything you want <1> =-] <1> in ms access, what operator can i use to see records that share some common value? <2> Except that -- can I ask a question. YOU DID. <2> My frustration comes out in my words, lectures, essays, whatever -- it's a channel for stress and angst, I pour my words out, and it relieves the stress from me, away from me, mind and body. <2> They're just words you goddamn goat monkey ****. Just words. <2> One problem. The Sunday after the first vernal equinox, supposedly. But there is no Sunday on the 21st. <2> I'll read the article. It's all in there. <2> Now that my trunk latch has officially rusted shut -- NOW it's time to get that recall done. :p
<0> geez <0> the CEO's ***istant <0> she forwards me her spam <0> if it's tech related <0> she thinks I need to see it <3> if i have two scsi hard disks in a server in raid1, and i want to add a drive and go to raid5, do i need to reinstall the OS? <4> anyone know of any pretty good software firewall solutions out there? <4> ? <5> Windows XP SP2. <4> for the corporate environment <6> Software firewall and corporate environment don't mix. <4> rofl <7> I have an eMachines Athlon XP 1600+ that doesn't boot(no post). Any ideas about what I should do with it? <2> I've got something like 4 years left on the warranty on this hard drive. This weekend I'll be able to setup and test the drive and RMA it to maxtor. <2> owensdj: Throw it in the lake. It's the only best destiny for a piece of crap like that. <7> :( <7> It was my aunt's computer. She almost never used the thing, so I don't know why it just died like that <7> Could I transfer the XP Home license to another computer? <2> Computers get lonely. Don't you get lonely? Well everthing gets lonely, or so some cults think. <7> It died of bordom. lol <2> owensdj: Technically, no, the license is tied to that machine. Realistically, after replacing a motherboard that fried, boot up -- no bitching about it. <7> Tomomi i'd need to use another eMachines motherboard, right? <7> what I'd thinking is if I could get a replacement motherboard and get it working, I could sell the computer on eBay for a little something <2> No. They have a complex series of steps that happen, to summarize, if it's replacing its license to the new machine, since you'll still be only one voice, it will allow it (using OEM cd). Another question, is this a retail cd, or did it come with specific drivers et all and so on --restore disk do. If all you got was a funky Restore cd, you're hosed (unless you can actually get a new motherboard of appropriate sameness). On the otherhand if no "second m <7> Tomomi it's a restore CD <7> there is a Win XP Home sticker on the case <2> owensdj: Most of those are pretty much all plug and play -- backup your data first -- it will be destroyed. <7> yah <2> I need my girdle. brb. <2> Oh. You can probably talk dell into replacing that restore cd, for a price, but for a full windows copy (oem or retail). <2> (replacing it with a full system setup disk (retail or oem base, full windows system install capable). IIRC, Dell was charging $30 for a step up in the cd replacement heirarchy. That ain't china but momma you look like my geisha tonight. <7> it's an eMachines <7> hey look! it's the motherboard http://cgi.ebay.com/EliteGroup-L7VMM-Motherboard-AMD_W0QQitemZ6870389855QQcategoryZ99238QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem <2> Yeah. I know. It was just an example for comparison of Dell's licensing and what you'd probably find are eMachines' oem licensing. <7> the problem is, I'm not 100% sure the motherboard is the problem. I don't have a way to test a processor like that <7> in my experience, processors live forever :) <2> OG. An EliteGroup board. *ish* Never install that board again -- oh boy. Start with asus or intel. You have been given a p*** for now, the licensure, while not technically legal, is a popular option. <7> yeah I always use Asus or sometime Intel, but eMachines built this <7> I'm thinking I'll need an eMachines replacement board <2> owensdj: Basic troubleshooting. First, find the common base of the problem -- easiest way to do this is to remove all sound cards, all the cards fitting in slots (except video, a little* memory and nothing else. Now start troubleshooting -- It's time to find the answer to your question, if the problem remain, You've narrowed the list down one piece. <7> i did that <7> it wouldn't POST even with just the MB and memory <7> and the PW switch connected <7> the power supply does power on <7> the power supply works fine in another computer <8> i dont run any firewalls <7> firewalls are for whimps :P <7> so how much should I bid on the used eMachines motherboard? $20? <2> Oh, btw, I'm working on a test system (which I thought would fire up -- turn out the power supply had hard off'ed me at the manroot. Nonetheless, in my problem was weird, the power supply caused something on the mobo about the POWER ON signal and the two different times I tested. It wouldn't boot up normally it's not allowed by this psu to actually coordinate the three-way handshake and power up without a sizable load on the rails (voltage buses) namely <7> gonna go eat... <9> owensdj: emachine? $.75 <10> question.. <10> is it true that burning a cd at full speed renders minor subtle errors? <10> i'm tring to copy some files.. and well= no go.. BUT!! <10> the physical appearance of hte cd is perfect.. <10> sould i try a burn at a slower speed? <10> well, i'm burning a CD at 24X but there are subtle errors.. <10> do you think it would hlep if i burn it at 2X?? <10> the cd's are rated for something really fast. <10> is there a scientific basis to this? <10> the burn is successful, everything looks peachy except when i try to copy the files over to a hard drive, well, it doesn't copy, givesme errors, and it's random errors..
<2> MahShull: It could be failing because of a bad C2 error correction. You must also allow for scratches on the surface of the disk (the label side). It only takes a nick, razor thin, to cause a cd so injured not to work anymore. Skipdoctor might help, depending on the specific errors. <10> oh i c <10> let me check out skipdoctor <7> ok back <7> Mag69, really? :( <2> MahShull: If they try for higher tolerances, yes cdrs do PHYSICALLY FAIL (they shatter like ice). It's a problem in material which may no longer be an issue if the right ANSI committee gets off it *** and does something. <10> oh i c <2> MahShull: Not, skip doctor will not make damage to the surface layer (the label side). It will buff the under layer of the disk (shiny, odd colors, etc.). <2> Note* even. <10> heheh <11> I've burned CDs all the time at 48X and had no problems. <11> so there's nothing inherently wrong with 24x unless the drive and/or blanks aren't up to snuff. <2> MahShull: This may be overkill -- but the program, EAC (exact audio creator or something) does excellent job showing weak or dropped outside. It runs a different way on music cds (if your testing inludes audio, bonanze. EAC will rip at a grade higher in terms of perfection than lesser caliber programs like CDEX. It includes facilities to read/write/burn don't implement -- most of those do a simply (jitter read) and will be stopped by c2 errors, scratche <11> hes copying files <2> He's also burning them to cdr first. <11> EAC is purely a audio ripper, I thought? <2> Could be a simple security object error - bad permissions, somewhere (cdr, read/write/burner). <11> [I use it, but i never tried to read a data disk with it] <2> peerce: Yes it is. It will show tracts that are non-audio related, but I've always used it for audio. I have other programs for that. <11> tracks <11> a tract is a piece of land <2> tracks. thank you. <12> any of you guys running an amd xp athlon 3000 or 3200? <13> i used to run a 3200 <2> Well, I purposely left it vague -- It is a tract of land, and a tract of cdr space to rw. <13> now I'm on an opteron. :D <12> nerp: did you run a high end video card too? <13> no, i was on an AGP board. <12> i just bought a 3000 barton off ebay and i'm running a geforce 6800 <13> i got up to a 6600GT. <13> it was decent but not amazing. <12> and sometimes during gaming, i'm getting random reboots <13> sounds like overheating. <11> overheating or underpowering <12> well i just bought a cpu off ebay <12> so i'm wondering if the cpu is having problems stablizing, i'm running at a constant 45-48 C <12> and if i'm running underpowered with a 300W psu <13> for an xp chip that's fine. <13> you can go as high as 55 under load without concern. <13> my guess is that the 300W psu might not be enough <12> i was running from an xp1800 before <12> and since upgrading to the 3000 now i'm having some reboot issues <13> right, which will draw a lot less power than a 3200 <13> or 3000 <12> well i think an xp1800 runs min about 45W <12> and a xp3000 will run min around 60W <12> i run a 300W enermax psu <13> add the video cards, drives, etc, and 300w isn't much. <2> Well, that fixes is <2> it <2> ...it, there was an oddnamed (channelwell) 200 Watt PSU for f <2> 5years, non-stop. It's had enough. 4 bays filled, a low rent PSU and not enough wattage. <11> triumph; watts is actually not a sufficient spec to base power supply size on, its only useful as a general ballpark size. you need the right amount of amps of each voltage level for the load. <11> and of course, hardly noone specifies that. <11> used to be that the spec sheet for a component (motherboard for instance) would detail its power usage (X amps at +5V, Y amps at +12V, ...) <14> i got the coolest babe i ever had <14> she's now developing with me <14> i'm turning an old ibm mainframe programmer into a unix web developer <14> she learned swish, photoshop and homesite in 3 months <14> now she's kickin out major websites <14> soon she will be better than me :( <15> is there a way to repair the Win XP Pro MBR without having a windows recovery CD? <16> jrkotrla ugh... maybe' <15> all the help I've found online so far ***umes you can boot the computer to gain access to the Recovery Console <9> chamois: and you'll be out of a job <11> Mag69; then he can graduate into "Management" <14> peerce Got Mudslides? <14> sounds like you guyz are getting hammered <14> some dude in his backyard gets buried by mudslide <14> ooF <17> Hi, does anyone know how to print several .DOC's at once from Word, without opening and printing each one separately? Thanks. <18> i've been searching for an hour now.. does anyone know where from can i get the Creative live! drive IR (driver and software) please? the one in this pic :\ http://asia.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=13&subcategory=55&product=26 <16> helpaa i think there is a rule about warez in here ... i forget tough' <16> !warez
