<0> Dov-Work : and no application pools
<1> Well he wasn't specific :)
<2> the company that makes this custo software only recommends server
<3> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/features/default.mspx
<0> falter: get Web Edition then
<2> custom
<2> here's the catch though
<0> if it's only for IIS
<2> and i've told them this isn't a good idea repeatedly
<4> is the openssh for windows package considered pretty safe?
<2> they want to keep using the 'server' as a workstation also
<1> badnach0, yes/
<2> i hate when people do that
<0> falter: can't use a server as a workstation
<0> period.
<4> Dov-Work - you're talking about the cygwin package right?

<0> You want your server to have spyware?
<2> my point exactly
<0> yeah
<0> don't let them make you do that
<2> but i'm not the boss :)
<0> what's your position ?
<2> gopher
<1> I used to use Putty.
<2> ***istant administrative gopher
<0> well, if you're not the one that's gonna get fired, let them **** it up
<0> do what they say
<2> i know lots about computers, so they stuck me with IT
<4> Dov-Work - i'm talking about sshd
<2> yeah
<2> sigh
<1> I still say run IIS on that box, considering it's one particular software that requires it.
<2> will web let them do workstation stuff though?
<2> i thought web was really stripped down
<1> It wont have the need for other virtual sites.
<5> Hey, does anyone know where wmpplugin.exe installs all the files? I modified my winxp cd and had it not install windows media player on install and then I installed media player 10 (which was difficult to do because it was complaining about not having the older versions) but now I can't install the mediaplayer plugin for firefox, I copied all the dlls into the plugin folder and it tries to load media player then crashes :P
<0> Dov-Work's right , if it's small small, and only one site, you can use XP
<2> i can't find a price for IIS
<1> All of the server OS will run happily as a workstation. It's not recommended though.
<0> IIS is not a sep product
<0> it's part of windows
<1> it's 'free' with Windows XP.
<2> ah
<2> hmm
<3> its in add/remove programs
<2> the specs here say
<2> win 2000 server
<0> there's no 2000 server anymore :D
<2> win 2003 standard/sbe/enterprise
<2> yeah this is just covering bases
<1> sontek, most likely your temp folder. You can use filemon to monitor the installtoin.
<0> those three are all over kill for a single virtual host IIS
<6> falter, what software is this
<1> !info filemon for sontek.
<2> it's called Jencess
<6> how many connections
<7> http://www.youtube.com/player.swf?video_id=ceM030pThmQ <- funny :D
<3> Dov-Work, you're trying !tell sontek filemon
<3> :)
<2> don't know.. they don't make specifications
<6> no
<6> how many users will use it
<0> how many users are using it ?
<6> silly
<1> Ted-Lap, does that work for me?
<2> well
<6> wait
<2> i'm not sure.. i think just one
<6> is this a reservation thing
<3> Dov-Work, as long as you are voiced, yes
<1> I don't think I have that ability.
<2> i think their website does the actual grunt work
<1> Ah ok.
<2> checks with our box, etc
<6> http://www.jencess.com/
<6> that?

<8> what do you guys use to lube your wiper blades
<1> Golf softyware.
<2> yeah
<1> Anusol.
<1> Preparation H.
<2> heh
<0> We're using Preparation I Beta here
<3> i don't have wiper blades
<9> hmm. ambesol is for toothaches.
<0> **** Ambesol :D
<0> that **** doesn't work :D
<9> sore anus?
<0> NOVACAIN is for toothaches :D
<8> =p
<2> extra strength ibuprofen
<8> cocaine will work too
<1> MmM. Novacain. FKnight`, hook a brother up!
<0> hah cocaine :D
<4> has anyone here run sshd with cygwin? someone here claims it is not 'friendly' with windows...
<10> I made a symantec ghost boot disk, copied the files to a server, copied them from a server to a floppy disk however the floppy disk won't boot, what steps do I need to go through to ensure the floppy disk will boot?
<10> plz
<1> It 'is' friendly.
<3> so, FKnight`, don't you wish opera had an option to open a page in IE?
<8> cocaine is a local anestetic... should get the job done
<2> ibu is great. but it'll give you a kurt cobain stomach
<3> FKnight`, for instance when pages don't render well in Opera
<1> joseuk, make the disk bootable from within Ghost.
<0> badnach0: some stuff isn't friendly in Windows because people think they can just change the header files, load the source into cygwin, compile, and expect utilities that were written by a unix geek to work in Windows right.
<10> i don't have ghost here
<10> thats the problem ;\
<0> I keep having to yell at my boss for using the KEEP PERMISSIONS option to cygwin RSYNC
<0> but
<0> as far as openssh goes
<0> I think it works fine :D
<0> why use Cygwin though? Isn't there a Win32 ver?
<1> joseuk, your best bet would be to do that, and compare what is actually on the floppy. If you don't have it with you, you are sorta out of luck ;)
<1> badnach0, dude use WinSCP.
<10> its only a dos bootable
<1> IMHO the best for that task.
<9> captain if we go by the book (and if this highly intelligent khan guy can't break my stupid code with give away voice inflection)...
<10> i thjink i just need to "flag" the floppy to recognise its bootable
<10> i just can't remember how to do that ;\
<10> its been a few years and too much drugs ;\
<2> damn
<2> spysweeper kicks ***
<2> i had it mixed up with something of a similar name, that i knew to be spyware
<0> here's the other thing about running "small websites on some guy's workstation"
<10> nm i think i got it
<10> i have hotel rwanda dvdrip and the audio wont play, so gay ;\ warez ****s
<1> Flag? It needs certain files for it to be recognized.
<0> here's the other thing about running "small websites on some guy's workstation". We got an XML document from the DOT that was referencing a definition template on some guys web server
<0> that guys server had been pornhacked
<9> poor jose didn't install an audio codec
<1> These protein drinks are making me queezy :(
<9> sorry. would you prefer a facial?
<10> i installed divx player to try get it working
<10> dunno any audio codecs
<1> I drink while holding my nose, but the after taste makes it worse.
<9> bet you need ac3filter
<1> joseuk, lookup Gordian Knot pack.
<9> for dd5.1/dts
<1> Yeah what Barsky said, and it's included with Gordian Knot.
<10> tnx :)
<9> I hate those codec packs, personally. they install so much inneeded/unwanted crap.
<9> no offense
<10> yeah after you install its straight into add/remove to get rid of the unwanted whore transfer
<9> I find xvid and ac3filter takes care of pretty much all I need
<10> but i'll survive
<1> It's fairly lean, and you can customize the install.
<9> since xvid does divx
<9> too
<10> wwooop
<10> got it workin
