<2> hi guys... i went on vacation for 1 week and let my brother control the computer. now my G:\ drive is "dead", when i try to access it windows tells me "G:\ is not formated, would you like to format now?" and tried to restart but after that it had change volume name to to "Local Drive (C:)" before it was "New Volume (G:)" . I also found a spyware "SpySheriff" hijacked the computer. Anyone know if i can get my data back from the drive easy? :s

<0> if suddenly the disk went from operating to wanting to be formatted, that sort of indicates that either the partition table got the hose, or some malware is preventing the disk from being viewed. i tend to think the former.

<0> if you hosed your partition table, i believe Norton Utilities has a function where it can scan your disk and rebuild the partition table.

<2> Ok z0g^: in diskmgmt.msc now. I says "No error (Active)" (in swedish words) and "Free Space: 100%" before i rebooted, windows said it was 1,67gb free.
