<4> the first drive it finds on its primary interface is 0x80, then 0x81, then 0x82, etc. if the BIOS is set to ATA first but there's only SATA, the first SATA drive gets 0x80, but as soon as you plug in an ATA drive, it gets enumerated 0x80 and the bootstrap on the SATA drive ****s itself because it's now 0x81.
