<0> and the rules don't apply to them even if they weren't
<1> Jet: When I was in high school working part-time in retail, there was a fire alarm at the grocery store in the same shopping center.
<1> There was a dude parked in front of the store, in the fire lane, and the truck they'd sent (which was a pumper truck, as I recall) couldn't reach the front of the store.
<1> So the truck started pushing.
<1> Small car versus fire truck.
<1> The tires left nice streaks, and I think I might've heard something popping or snapping.
<1> It was fun to watch. :)
<2> ****. I'm late for werk. :(
<3> hmm just saw a commercial for comcast offering a vonage type service
<3> http://www.comcast.com/Benefits/VoiceBenefits.ashx?LinkIK=59
<3> Comcast Digital Voice service is not yet available at the address you entered

<5> tonight will be 01:02:03 04/05/06
<6> I just made my computer a multiple monitor setup, but I"m having a bit of trouble getting my new monitors to look like my old one. My old monitor allows you to specify a white point (9300 or 6500) while the new ones do not. I read up a lot of info on calibration and gamma, but nothing that explains what can be done. Any suggetisons ?
<7> Techsel, how many channels have you spammed with this msg of yours?

<8> TechCel: what kind of monitor is the new one?
<5> if there's no hardware setting for white point, it can still be adjusted in software prett y well
<6> what kind of software ?
<5> like nvidia control panel for instance
<5> if you have nvidia card
<6> ati
<8> what kind of monitor is the new monitor?
<6> dell e173fp
<8> is that an LCD?
<6> yeah
<8> that would be why
<8> older one CRT?
<5> white point is not really relevant for LCD
<1> Why's it gotta be a /white/ point? You racist?
<9> Balance remaining (i.e. vacation hours available) at 31-Mar-06 : 205 hrs. =D
<7> lazy fuk
<5> you can probably still adjust the color balance in the ATI control panel
<5> its in the advanced settings if i recall
<6> well it's a bitc
<6> but to what reference point do I adjust it/
<6> ?
<8> I find LCD's a bit funky to properly calibrate
<8> TechCel: its called something different for LCD's
<8> its not done by temp
<6> gamma ?
<8> no...
<6> well my other old lcd allows setting of color temperature
<5> unless you are doing prepress work you don't need to worry about a standard
<8> but I dont remember where
<6> my 1800fp selects color temp
<5> just adjust it to something that looks nice and don't worry too much
<6> gravix: it hurts my eyes that they're not similar
<5> are they different brand of monitor?
<6> both dells
<6> but different sizes
<5> you're going to have to eyeball it or get a color sensing device
<8> http://www.drycreekphoto.com/Learn/monitor_calibration.htm
<8> eh
<8> if you search around a bit you can find it. im still waking up and totally cant remember at the moment
<5> i've never been able to get 2 different LCDs to calibrate to similar colors any other method than eyeball... but good luck =D
<8> even then between monitors is hard to get them to 'look the same' even when clibrated
<6> gravix: any suggestions? just eyeball it with color settings ?
<8> cause of the nature of how they work. 1 will usually look 'brighter'
<5> yeah, that's the problem... they don't look right even after you do the calibration
<8> I need to find a cheap gretag chart
<8> I refuse to spend $60 for one of those
<6> hmmm
<5> yeah, use a desktop picture with bright Red green blue all over
<5> that shuold make it easier
<10> is that apple video ipod 2 real or fake
<5> on the bright side, at least you are not using an LCD next to a CRT
<5> that is even harder
<10> anyone see that video?
<7> no
<7> letz zee it
<10> http://www.attackofthe****.com/archives/Apples-Secret-Ipod-Video-2.html < is that real?
<10> the menu looks good
<5> looking at it
<10> and the controls look good
<10> but they are saying...

<10> that its off center
<10> I mean if you can make a movie like the matrix
<10> with FX
<10> then surely its not hard to fake that
<5> it could have been a movie and the guy just moved his finger on the thing
<8> windows also ****s for color
<10> hmmm
<1> pugilist: That's not real.
<5> like, they overlaid the control wheel on the movie and he moved his finger to match
<10> I dont know man
<10> maybe I want it to be real
<10> its soo cool
<5> not really... you wouldn't want to be touching the screen all the time anyway
<10> touch screen lcd would be expensive though?
<5> youd get it all smudgy
<11> like Jesus :)
<10> true
<5> i don't think apple would do that
<1> Yeah, Apple's never made anything with a touch screen before (*cough*Newton*cough*) or that easily gets smudges or scratches on it (*cough*iPod Nano*cough*).
<5> i try to have faith in the engineers but alas =(
<7> does anyone here have a drive over 10 years old running on your current system?
<5> no, they are too small
<8> chamois: not here, but I do at home
<7> what size and make is it?
<8> my router box has a old *** samsumg that refuses to die
<6> do ICC profiles help?
<6> or is that only for printing ?
<8> Im not even sure what size it is, larger than 2gb, but I dont think its 4gb
<8> TechCel: ICC profiles wont seem to do much, no.
<6> ok lemme try this
<0> I dunno what the **** Microsoft is trying to build with that 8" LCD thing they've previewed
<7> show and tell time?
<6> any charts or images I could use to make the eye calibration easier ?
<7> TechCel, what do you do for a living?
<5> yes, large pure RGB squares
<6> chamois: wtf do u care
<8> TechCel: a color chart like theo ne in that URL I posted
<7> because you are hurting my eyes
<1> Jet: That Origami thing?
<8> but to get a 'real life' one is going to cost you about $60 =/
<0> fdiv_bug: yeah, that thing
<1> Jet: Yeah, **** that noise.
<6> chamois: you're hurting my foot
<0> I watched a video on Channel 9 about it
<0> seems like a device in search of a market
<0> they *claim* they did research showing people would buy it, I think their research is flawed
<7> TechCel, stfukthx
<0> smaller than a laptop, bigger than a PDA
<6> chamois: lmb
<0> a 640 x 480 screen?
<12> This stupid cunt at work, she hates me and I hate her,
<6> I"ve always wanted that
<12> so she calls another guy in my office, and asks if he wants her to pick him up lunch
<6> something smaller than a laptop and bigger than a pda
<7> yea my foot hurts
<12> and then says "ask mike what he wants"
<12> (I'm not Mike).
<0> although, its about the size of a "pad" on Star Treak
<12> Such a cunt with her little child games
<0> Trek
<11> !info upnp
<0> and those seem very popular
<0> :)
<6> don't you love cunts ?
<13> the dell b130 laptop looks like an unattractive budget laptop
<7> skoal got office soap opera y0
<0> skoalwork: wtf man, are you still in high school? oh wait, you are :D
<5> peer gets another one
<12> haha.
<12> I totally am.
