<10> Because if it's a desktop and has two video-out ports then it should support dual displays, and you just use your projector as one of the displays. Some laptops have video out that can only mirror what the built-in display is showing, others don't.

<10> Okay. If it's a non-****ty laptop, you should be able to hook the projector up to the video-out port and use that as a secondary display. If you extend Windows onto that desktop you can do what Dov said.
