<0> what is porime 95
<1> it calculates prime numbers
<1> so is cpu/memory bus intensive
<1> if a system is going to overheat, it will overheat running that :)
<0> So all my PSU, MBU, I can only test with vendor testing software?
<1> you can't really test the psu
<1> you can look at the voltages in the bios
<1> I guess
<1> and you can't really specifically test the motherboard either
<2> !memtest
<2> hmph
<3> I want to make a pvr for my father. There are tons and tons of resources for howtos on the internet but is there a site that stands out among them that I should pay attention to?
<2> does anyone know how long this memtest takes?
<4> yo question my i got lil network... laptop n fileserver
<4> both can ping router
<4> but not each other

<1> xp firewall blocks pings by default?
<5> hey
<5> someone has experience in gdisk?
<6> @find atomic cannon
<3> when a printer says maximum size 13x17 can you ***ume that it will accept all smaller sizes?
<7> how do i get it
<8> PGPman get what?
<7> windows vista
<8> I dont think you need this beta
<7> ok
<8> but you can get it from the site of MS i think
<7> ok
<9> windows vista
<10> man, does battlefield 2 support force feedback?
<11> q
<10> yum. breakfast today consists of walmart branded styrofoam cup of noodles
<12> yuck. printer carts and toner. $95 And one printer may be dead too.
<13> z0g^g: Just eat the cup.
<13> Probably better.
<14> naw
<14> if its gotta walmart logo it could be worth money in the future
<10> man. this thrustmaster afterburner joystick is pretty bad***. but cant seem to get the force feedback working in battlefield 2.
<15> hi
<15> i just installed windows home edition
<15> but when the part i install the auto updates
<10> and the throttle lever is backwards
<15> a error comes out saying some thing about service pack
<10> twisting the stick to rotate in the helicopter is backwards too.
<10> fun.
<15> and that update icon keeps coming out
<15> what shall i do?
<12> woooo: On the left side of the update site are links to newsgroups and faqs that you can browse to find the one that goes with the *exact* problem you are having.
<16> if one can do price discrimination seamlessly, then, whoa.
<12> I need to get my ntp net up and running again.
<17> my installshield is broke
<17> n
<17> what to do
<10> hrm. i think i may need to take a trip to the office to pick up my bf2 cds.
<10> this game is a royal pain in my ***. constant issues. if it isnt some instability issue or version mismatch issue or SMP issue its got wonky copy protection issues too
<18> I am a hair confused by the Device CAL license, am I to understand if I get a 5 Device CAL license for windows server 2003, that I can install that license on 5 servers that are shared through the office?, and that if I wanted to install it on 50 users machines directly, I would need a 50 User CAL license?
<10> depends on what type you use. i think. per-seat CAL licensing i think means you license however many seats (users) you have, and then they can access any server that has a server license.
<10> its a bit confusing but i think thats how it works. im not sure why you would use the other form of licensing.
<18> well, how it is going to be is, 50 people who have windows 2000 on their machines direct would be accessing 5 servers that we want to put windows 2003 server for
<12> z0g^g: eg, connections < availability
<18> I hope that the 5 device covers it, as 5 full servers, @ $500 a clip :-(
<10> so then i think there you would need 5 2003 server licenses and then 50 cals in per-seat
<10> i phoned MS once to clarify that. at one time i thought if i had 50 users and 5 servers, would i need 50*5=250 cals? they said no.
<18> wow, ok, thanks for the info, I will have to give a call too I guess.. Just dont' want a knock on the door
<19> hi!!!!!!!!!!!
<10> Yea their licensing phone support is very knowledgable. and guess what, its not in India!
<18> wow, incredible!
<18> thanks again, lata`
<0> Are lazer printers more economic than inkjets?
<12> Cpt_Kirk: Depends. color laser, bw laser, inkjet, etc.
<20> I Don't know, but thanks to the power of urban legend, everyone on Earth has a "friend" who owns "a stack of 12 laser printers in the box" because "he just throws away a printer when it's out of toner" because toner is expensive.
<0> color lazer
<21> lazer. :D
<12> Cost per page b&w laser/inkjet, etc. frequency of use (cost/page is usually given in reviews)
<22> FKnight`: I don't.
<20> fdiv_bug: then you're one of those people that doesn't make **** up. Congrats.

<22> Thanks!
<22> Do I win anything?
<20> If I had a quarter for everyone I knew who had a friend who has a stack of boxed laser printers
<20> I could pay off my house.
<22> Seriously? I've never heard that before.
<20> "Yeah I got a friend. Toner is so expensive, he just bought about 12 printers and he has them stacked in the boxes. When he's out of toner, he throws away the printer and opens a new one"
<20> I got like 10 people who've told me that
<21> Which is a retarded thing to say because laser printers come with "starter" toner.
<20> yeah
<20> which is like
<21> 5 pages.
<20> worth 1/4 of the amount of pages as real toner
<20> I do, however, have one inkjet still in the box :D
<20> it's for when this one BREAKS
<22> FKnight`: I do that with hard drives. When one fills up rather than try and clean it off to free up space, I'll just toss it and install a new one.
<22> :-D
<20> fdiv_bug hahahahaa
<10> some of those toner cartridges, if they have a little slot you can open, you can dump in bulk toner, from big *** bottles of toner like office copiers use
<22> z0g^g: And get your hands, clothes, and furniture all covered in toner.
<22> ;)
<20> yea
<10> like Brother cartridges
<20> h
<10> yeh toner is messsy
<10> our color laser at the office has some kinda leaky unit inside of it, so whenever opening it up to change anything, you end up looking like a clown vomited on you
<23> somehow. my system disabled Windows-R key.. any suggestions in getting the RUN fuction back...
<12> DragonGuy: If you've got multiple items that begin with R in the start menu, it will just highlight the first
<10> you know. xerox replacement parts are so terribly expensive. i bet it would be humorous to find out what it would cost to construct a complete xerox printer, solely based on replacement part cost.
<20> z0g^g hahah
<12> R command it hits, hit R again to cycle to the next
<10> i bet you could probably hit 6 figures
<12> R
<23> i took it off my XP start menu...cause I usually goto it with WIN-R anyways... but when I tried to re-select it.. it wont come back...
<23> and it says, this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator. argh
<10> man i feel like crap today... but i saw jim florentine at the improv last night. funny guy.
<21> Sounds like you got your machine infected.
<23> that is what my thought might be... argh.
<23> i hate norton... and mcafee... i got norton. but it seems never to catch anything...
<23> and AVG doesnt do much better either. argh
<10> it helps if you keep them updated.
<10> get ms antispyware too. or is windows defender final now?
<21> Windows Defender. But that isn't antivirus. Get Windows OneCare and add windows defender.
<21> And if you don't do windows update critical updates, that is how much of the stuff gets in.
<23> i keep my stuff pretty updated..
<10> using your computer as a restricted user account adds another layer of protection
<20> I wonder if it's safe to run Windows Update if you have IE7 installed
<21> FK: I've been doing it.
<20> cool
<21> The March 20 beta has some issues I don't care for, though.
<20> ever since installing IE7, I can't launch URLs from START -> RUN or from within the address box of a regular explorer window. It says "Application not found" . I have to launch IE7 first.
<20> brb gotta reboot for windows update to update
<20> heh
<24> norton's started acting wonky on my XP SP2 box ever since the last 2 sec updates from MS. Think it's time to look at f-secure or something. tired of NAV getting bitchy every other update
<24> SD70MAC: other than monitoring the SDK pages, any way to get notified when they release an updated SDK for like .NET 2.0, DX, the platform SDK, et al?
<10> anyone know how to hard reset a kyocera cellphone, to blow away all the contacts?
<10> ive got this phone i wanna give to my brother, but dont want him to have all my contacts in it
<13> Afraid he's gonna start hitting on your friends?
<13> :)
<25> what's the topic about?
<25> no longer april fools
<13> So?
<13> It's always a good time to harr*** the gullible.
<13> :)
<25> lol
<25> 5342 is almost as good as a final
<25> :P
<25> bah
<25> anyway
<25> like most others I came for some help
<25> I can't get youtube to play vids on this machine
<25> with ie6
<25> it says I need newest flash player or javascript is disabled
<25> I have both enabled
<25> flash player 8
