<pbug> worf would make a good rioter
<Figz> he flew a cf-18 at an airshow I was at.. that ****er's had way too good a life :P
<pbug> uhm.. came across this site yesterday about this time travellers convention and someone said they will come back from time to time and everyone will get to know who they are eventually ;)
<Figz> it's good to have plans
<Inge-> hehe
<Inge-> pbug: of course, you only ever need *one* time travellers convention :)
<Inge-> pbug: you not working? you seem to be on here ALL the time these days...
<pbug> right :)
<pbug> oh that's just my bot
<Inge-> (of course, how do I know that he is on all the time.. *cough*)
<pbug> no actually i'm just wasting time..
<pbug> you know the saying.. "all good things come to those that wait"
<pbug> I'm still waiting for that thing, that event, that day..
<pbug> I'll doubt it at first, but over time I'll be convinced that that was it
<Figz> www.oxide.org/eggs.jpeg
<pbug> uhm is that photoshopped in there?
<Figz> it looks that way, doesn't it?
<pbug> trying to get a hold of the perspective.. what the hell is that?
<Figz> it's unreal-looking because I layered multiple images to get some depth of field
<Figz> they're ladybird beetle eggs.. about .5mm long
<pbug> oh this is under a microscope
<Figz> yea
<Inge-> looks kinda like ant eggs
<pbug> so you got that on a camera on the computer?
<Inge-> what camera Figz?
<pbug> do you have some sort of program that measures movement and captures that?
<Figz> nopers.. though people do crazy things with toucams
<Figz> inge, oly e330
<Inge-> k
<Inge-> I photographed a wedding last week :) (although I've already bugged pbug with it. get it - buggewd pbug.. haha... not)
<Figz> I'll probably revisit these photos when I get a dedicated 2:1 macro.. working with the microscope is quite difficult, and the result is pretty soft.
<pbug> :)
<pbug> I make sure I play the most annoying music if anyone bugs me
<pbug> they'll go insane
<pbug> and if noones there only I will :)
<pbug> no actually though everyone has different music tastes
<pbug> I just like a sorta different genre
<Figz> inge, were you sole photographer or a backup?
<Inge-> I was *the* wedding photographer
<Inge-> Figz: canon has a 5:1 lens for their EF line...
<pbug> inge: show figz that cool photo of the path where the groom is standing on the left side leaning against a tree and the bride is on the lower right
<pbug> I thought that was the best picture of all of them
<Inge-> this one? http://www.stubdal.net/temp/vidar/100beste/0635.htm
<Figz> www.oxide.org/poppy1.jpeg
<Figz> www.oxide.org/poppy2.jpeg
<Inge-> or the next one possibly
<pbug> inge: no there was another one similar to that
<pbug> figz: chmod go+r poppy*
<Figz> inge, you musta been a long way away.. pretty long lens
<Figz> sowwy
<Figz> done
<pbug> wow
<pbug> it's loading.. big picture
<pbug> wow it's coming up like the sun.. I had to sneeze
<webbz> hrm... i wonder if there's a good way to keep FreeBSD's portupgrade from installing startup scripts in /usr/local/etc/rc.d for each thing it upgrades. kind of dangerous behaviour - for example, starting rsync server is not what i intend, i have rsync binary just for keeping some local directories in sync
<Figz> those didn't get any post processing..
<webbz> i've studied the man page and there seems no option for that :(
<Inge-> sneeze?
<Figz> webbz, not that you want to hear it, but openbsd made a policy decision not to make functional changes in /etc from ports.. ie, it'll add the user a daemon may run under, but won't actually set the daemon to start
<Figz> inge, some people have a genetic compulsion to sneeze when exposed to bright light
<Figz> runs in families
<Inge-> aha
<Inge-> I havent postprocessed them yet, no
<Inge-> and you can see lens details in the lower left corner
<Inge-> used the 70-200mm a lot
<Figz> inge, I mean the poppy ones.. which is why they're so big
<Inge-> Nice poppy
<Inge-> very big :)
<Figz> I'm considering if I'm rich enough to buy the 50-200 f2.8-3.5..
<Figz> inge, is that one with IS?
<pbug> http://www.stubdal.net/temp/vidar/100beste/0636.htm
<pbug> that's the one I meant..
<pbug> I think it looks pretty cool
<Figz> posseurs :P
<Figz> pretty challenging photo actually.. must have been nearly complete tree cover, to result in the blown whites
<Figz> wedding dresses outdoors are supposed to be the dynamic range nightmare subject :P
<pbug> :)
<Inge-> yeah
<Inge-> I had to watch the sun/shade
<Inge-> there were from time to time a bit of cloud cover as well
<Figz> that might actually have helped
<Inge-> but the dress has not been blown out
<Figz> which body, inge?
<Inge-> 20D
<pbug> http://www.stubdal.net/temp/vidar/100beste/0041.htm
<Inge-> and yes, it was the IS lens
<pbug> this is a cool pic too
<pbug> nice bird
<Inge-> Yah, it was hovering about so I finally got one where it was nicely placed
<pbug> surprisingly there is no sea gulls in frankfurt afaik
<pbug> in cologne I saw a few though
<pbug> that's a bit upriver
<Figz> wow, you're right.. there's loads of detail left in the dress
<Inge-> but it is hard for your monitor to show the full range
<Inge-> I am not sure what I'll do for postprocessing of it, but there should be detail left :)
<Figz> www.oxide.org/dress.jpeg
<Inge-> I am actually pretty amazed at the quality from that shoot
<Inge-> but weather was good, the couple were excellent
<Figz> especially from jpeg it's impressive how much is left in there
<Figz> looks ghost-like
<Inge-> I shot in RAW though
<Inge-> what did you do to get that jpg?
<Inge-> magic wand in ps or somesuch?
<Figz> right, threshold select and then stretched levels
<Figz> (in gimp)
<Figz> starting from a jpeg I don't mind using an 8-bit editor
<Inge-> :)
<Inge-> jpeg 2000 is 12-bit too?
<webbz> Figz it's ok - i wrote upgrade script with rm /usr/local/etc/rc.d/* as the last command (i use somewhat older-style /etc/rc.local for startup anyway). portupgrade should print at least warning at the very end, though.
<Figz> inge, I dunno much about jpeg2000, except that it annoys me when I find I can't view it
<Dmi> yello :)
<Dmi> hey Figz :)
<Figz> hullo greek malak^H^H^H^H^Hsir
<pbug> mmmh kebabs
<Figz> domas?
<Figz> baklava?
<Figz> moussaka?
<pbug> all that ****ing greek food, give to me, I will eat like mad!
<pbug> :)
<Figz> souvlaki..
<pbug> yep greek cuisuine is good stuff
<pbug> cuisine even :)
<Figz> there's a greek community centre near here that does an annual food fest
<pbug> mmmhhh
<Dmi> :P
<Dmi> pbug: send me German Helgas, with big knockers, i'll send you greek food.
<Inge-> isn't baklava persian?
<Dmi> it's middle eastern
<Dmi> let's look it up in the wiki
<Inge-> ooh! Terrorist food!
<Dmi> NO!
<pbug> heh
<Inge-> (middle eastern = terrorist)
<Dmi> FREEDOM FOOD!
<Dmi> FREEDOM FRIES!
<pbug> heh
<Dmi> YOU MEAN YOU ACTUALLY HAD PRISONERS IN GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA!?!?
<Dmi> NO ****ING WAY
<Figz> www.oxide.org/0636_std.jpg <- screwin around.. obviously can't retouch every single photo
<Figz> hmm.. ****ed the pink out of the poor fellow's face
<pbug> why did they name french fries freedom fries again?
<pbug> because france was against the war in iraq?
<Dmi> yeah
<Figz> there, some colour again
<Dmi> oh, **** guys, here comez ze siggaret%^H^H^H^H^Hthemissiles are comming!
