<buggy> Well thats not true
<tengil> ferro: now i found a bunch of mplayer things but the gmplayer you were talking about i cant find when search for it
<sephy> Ok I could try googling, but I am not in the mood for searching through a million forums of idiots who can't get the apt-get command right
<sephy> tengil: The gmplayer is included in the mplayer package
<buggy> Thats what I have to do
<sephy> Atleast it used to be
<tengil> sephy: thanks
<ferro> which is exactly what i said
<ferro> heh
<tengil> well you said the mplayer package came with gmplayer really :)
<sephy> Yes, but that's many lines ago
<tengil> i think
<ferro> [22:23] <ferro> the 'mplayer' package comes with 'gmplayer' which is the gtk based gui, you wouldn't need a bunch of kde bs for that
<sephy> <ferro> the 'mplayer' package comes with 'gmplayer' which is the gtk based gui, you wouldn't need a bunch of kde bs for that <-- No he didn't
<tengil> yeah
<tengil> but technically thats the other way around if gmplayer is in the mplayer package :)
<tengil> argh
<tengil> never mind
<tengil> i cant read
<ferro> interpritive
<sephy> Agreed
<ferro> an apple comes with a core
<tengil> hehe
<tengil> oh well
<sephy> This servo-system comes with a steering wheel atached
<buggy> sephy: what was your question again ?
<sephy> mplayer/totem/vlc-player plugin for firefox
<buggy> What happens when you use mplayer ?
<sephy> Missing plugins
<sephy> No matter which plugin I have installed
<buggy> ok
<ferro> http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper <-- did you follow what is said in the guide?
<ferro> did you also restart firefox
<sephy> Yes
<ferro> yes to which question?
<sephy> This time I remembered to do that
<ferro> did you follow the steps in the guide?
<sephy> That's a negative to ubuntuguide, and a positive to the restart
<ferro> try the ubuntuguide
<ferro> i bet you saw that one coming :P
<buggy> http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/
<sephy> I made a little perl-script, so each time anyone type *ubuntuguide.org* I ignore that user for 3 seconds
<buggy> :/
<sephy> >:)
<buggy> You could also try mozilla-firefox IRC channel
<buggy> support channel *
<ferro> then i suggest you thoroughly check the ubuntu guide and make sure you haven't tried what's been written there, it's there for a reason
<sephy> Yes
<sephy> But I didn't ask for help, i don't want to fix it, i was just weak for a second
<sephy> Please don't murder me mister IRC-channel operator
<buggy> opps
<buggy> Damn that slip of the finger
<buggy> lol ferro sets ban on *!*@*
<ferro> o_O doesn't say that here
<buggy> lol It was a joke
<ferro> heh
<buggy> Why not just set ban on *!*@**!*.84-48-195.nextgentel.com
<buggy> bah
<buggy> *!*@*.84-48-195.nextgentel.com
<ferro> because he may have a shell elsewhere, or use proxy, but I doubt he'll change his ident, and if he doesn't have a shell or use a proxy, then i doubt he'll change his IP
<buggy> How long do the bans last ?
<ferro> few hours or so, though i can perm ban on the bots
<buggy> :) good ol bots
<ferro> they'll stay till they get removed (which the bots do every few hours)
<buggy> I see your point since I tunnel here my self
<clarkee> 07:29 <@ferro> i think i'm going to write a gui front end to properly and easily edit X config files
<clarkee> go for it
<clarkee> i'm going to write an app to tell me how many drugs i should take in a night calculated on how much **** is in my diary for the next day, how much sleep i got the night before, and my bodies need for vital nutrients
<tengil> umm i tried installing flash for firefox/mozilla with no luck. says Your architecture, \'x86_64\', is not supported. can i get flash reader for firefox with this architechture?
<ferro> tengil, nope, macromedia haven't (still) released a 64bit version of flash, everyone is still waiting
<ferro> the way around it is to install a 32bit browser and manually chuck in the plugin, the wiki.ubuntu.com site and forum has a thread which explains how to do it step by step, it's vairly simple. Personally, I just downloaded opera, and installed the plugin manually, took 5mins or less and it works fine with flash sites, for everything else I use firefox or galeon
<ferro> anywho, sleep for me, night
<clarkee> night
<clarkee> ok people
<clarkee> now ferro is asleep i will ban anybody who asks stupid questions
<clarkee> :p
<ferro> oh yeah, i log everything :P
<clarkee> so he can laugh later
<Geri> how do i create users under linux?
<ColdNeon> read several faq's and forums on it, and tried what they suggested, but still haven't been able to turn on root
<clarkee> yeha?
<clarkee> why not just su p***wd
<clarkee> set the root p***word
<clarkee> then log on as yourself
<clarkee> and then
<clarkee> sudo p***wd even
<clarkee> then later do su root
<clarkee> type in the root p***word
<clarkee> bingo
<clarkee> you don't need root anyway
<clarkee> sudo works fine
<ColdNeon> how do you turn on root? and in kubuntu where is the "Administrator Panel"? I need to activate my onboard wireless and says I need to activate the Administrator Panel but doesn't say where to find it
<ColdNeon> clarkee - tried sudo p***wd -u <p***word> and didn't work
<b00st> anyone here? how to start my network card?
<ColdNeon> also I'm trying to get a better *nix like environment and like to be able to install apache, php, and other packages how I'm used to
<clarkee> better *nix LIKE environment?
<clarkee> this IS *nix
<clarkee> apt-get is how you install packages in this particualr *nix environment
<clarkee> ColdNeon: type this
<clarkee> sudo p***wd
<clarkee> then enter your current p***word to get access to the sudo user
<clarkee> THEN type in the p***word you want for root
<ColdNeon> clarkee - I'll give it a try, maybve it was the -u switch
<ColdNeon> thanks
<clarkee> la la la la
