<7> zzzz: You basically have 2 options, reset it with the root account or open up the /etc/p***wd file (maybe called shadow if enabled) and start brute forcing (pick one)

<9> zzzz, yes there is, you can do it via a solution such as: http://governmentsecurity.org/archive/t2265.html . This example incoporates lilo, but you can p*** the same init argument to the kernel with grub
