<0> The President today declared an emergency exists in the State of Louisiana and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts in the parishes located in the path of Hurricane Katrina beginning on August 26, 2005, and continuing. <0> The President's action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate ***istance for required emergency measures <1> they really don't <2> example? <3> Twobar Great. I respect your beliefs, even if I don't buy your characterizations of what it is liberals want the government to be doing. <2> yeah, I'm sure Brady and his wife think so <4> anyway, there have been several times i've heard the 'democrats offer no solutions' line. 1. Every time I hear it, it's a veague comment. What don't dems off a solution to? Secondly, and much more importantly, the idea that "they don't offer a solution there for our solution, which they object to, is justified" is a cl***ic logical falacy that every 8th grader in the country can detect. <5> Herzen, the example you gave, is an example I often give myself of leftism: "Every solution they offer is either more goverment, or the whittling away and eroding of our rights". <4> so, wtf is the point? <0> There fema has full authority, that is from the white house also http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050827-1.html <6> did Hinckly register that handgun? <0> What about the barney frank bill on house ethics? <6> Did he have a ccw permit? <7> Twobar -- Again , you confuse the parties <0> It was shot down by 6 votes in the senate. <6> golly gee..I guess laws do not stop criminals do they?
<8> sintient, so FEMA was just supposed to go into louisiana and fix it all? and the state was totally off the hook? <0> It would have gotten lobbyist alot farther from the congressman than they are now. <2> Two: what rights of yours have been eroded? <5> FedUp, there was nothing wrong with your answer, I cannot sneer or reject it in any way. I disagree in some ways and would do some things different, but that is your position and its fine. <0> The state asked for supplemental help and said they couldn't handle it. <3> Twobar So now you can never say that no liberal has an answer to your question. OK? <9> Democrats would be in a much better political position in general if they hadn't pushed gun control so much in the past <0> And the president gave them supplemental help and put fema in full authority to the disaster relief. <5> Timur, the example that was given was run rights. I have watched this very carefully since 1979 and there are now about 20,000 gun laws on the books <6> Darth....FEMA will fix it...watch the taxes for the fix come out of your paycheck ;) <7> CNN Interviews Doctors Who Cure Gays <8> so the state failed to provide for its people, damn good thing its not run by Republicans. <2> Twobar: so like, that's a big huge right taken away from you? <5> FedUp, that is right. BUT... I can think of somthing else !! <10> Another Lefty/Dem idea might be income relief for the lower income earners, while Conservatives generally just want to lower taxes for the lower income earners (which I think works better, imo), democrats might have the idea to raise minimum wage so people have more money (even though it drives inflation) <4> dems offer a lot of solutions, they just arn't solutions that republicans agree with. For example, one of the democrat candidates for governor of california this year is proposing a huge tax increase for a solution. Do you like it? maybe, maybe not, but he is certainly proposing a solution <10> They have ideas <2> I'm underwhelmed. <10> Its just crappy ones <0> So there you go you were wrong on both point about fema, they do have teams in place to help people and the states were not left in charge of the relief effort. <6> Twobar...how many of those 20,000 infringe on law abiding citizens? <11> <---overbored <2> Herz: what would 'income relief' constitute? <5> Timur, I moved from California where they now cannot own even small semi auto 22's of certain types. And there are gettting more and more types every year <2> yeah, the gun issue is boring as hell <5> Cry, a number of them <2> ok, so, that's it? <4> (solution to what specificly? educational problems mainly, at least that's his claim. A tactic that I know from personal employment experience will NEVER work. Give 5 million dollars to a school district, students will see nothing. Happens every time) <10> Timur, for the lower ends, on the left they consider it raising minimum wage, so people get higher wages <7> Twobar -- My gun is bigger than your gun <1> its earthquqke time for cali <5> Timur, well it was what I was talking about when you asked :) <10> Timur, on the right they consider it lowering taxes, so people keep more of their wages <8> sintient, so the locals totally and completely drop the ball, say so, and FEMA is supposed to come in and save the day, and of course, they never, so its all Bush's fault. <8> do I have that right? <12> i might go see X-men tomorrow <5> AAAman rubbed his wenis on a chicken <4> me too <4> looks decent panini <8> I just want to make sure I got it right <6> any Gun law that infringes on a law abiding ADULT's right to defend themsleves needs to go <0> They are there to help and they can be given the authority to take over. <2> Herz: ok, makes sense <2> Two: well, what other issues? <4> i enjoyed the first 2, and i've never even been an x-men or comic fan <2> are seemingly imposing upon your rights? <10> Timur, also on the left they might grant a check or something to help lower cl*** working families, thats what they do here <6> Twobar...why couldnt AAAman cross the road <5> Timur, hell. The truth is, tonight I'm tired. Ask me tomorrow night. <0> And history shows they were given full authority to run the relief effort of katrina. <6> because he was stuck in a chicken <5> Cry, because he rubbed his junk on the chicken <2> Herz: well, that's sensible and just <2> up to a point <0> Fema as dispactched search and rescue teams tht were at it's disposal. <5> AAAMAN RUBBED HIS JUNK ON THE CHICKEN !!! <8> FEMA showed up to help, and wound up in charge, because of the complete failure of the state of Louisiana to do its job. <6> suna... X III will do well <6> I am seeing it 2morra <4> yah <0> The state called a disaster.
<2> Two: I'll not use the tired refrain of 'sure, run away' then pretend, inanely, that I 'won' an irc argument because you're tired. :) go rest. <5> it is a crime against the State <3> CryArvach What if I'm a law abiding adult who wants to defend himself with explosives in my home? <8> and none of the donkeys in charge of Louisiana will take a hit for it. since Fema was put in charge. <6> Twobar...not in the SE US <5> Timur, I'll be going to bed in about 5 minutes <0> That is how things go in huge things like hurricanes. <4> divinci code is doing very well...but there have been so many advertisments and news stories on it and this that & the other that I don't care to see it anymore <9> I need a flamethrower to defend my home <10> Timur, it is actually really abused here <6> Darth...Blanco may take one in November <3> CryArvach Should I have an unfettered right to do so? <6> Harksaw...why not? <4> i'm sick of it. Sort of like this last olympics, I was completely sick of it before it started due to overadvertising. Didn't watch any of it <6> FedUp...yes <12> screw da vinci code.. i'm tired of tom hanks movies <8> CryArvach not according to what sintient claims. <5> Rifles, shotguns, handguns. These were what was acceptable re the militias, hand-held weapons. <13> lol panini -- well who else we got.. <10> I like tom hanks <2> Two: 4 now <6> Until the person shows they can not responsibly deal with firearms, the CAN <10> but wtf is he doing in the Da Vinci Code <2> ;) <13> pani -- for actors <10> that makes me lose a ton of respect for him <12> plus the idea is dumb <2> I'm going to bed soon too. big day tomorrow <0> Read the presidential release when they declared a federal disaster. <5> TIMUR RUBBED HIS JUNK ON THE CHICKEN !! <2> Herz: yeah, total miscasting <6> Herzen...times are tough lol <1> he has always been in loser movies <0> I don't know what to say, I am not making it up as I go along like some people. <3> CryArvach So anything goes, in terms of weapons, firearms or explosives, as long as in my mind I'm "defending myself"? <0> I have presented evidence. <10> panini, My mum and dad are up in arms <10> panini, they hate that da vinci code <6> the Da Vinci Code is doing ok at the box office <12> lol <10> panini, though they're good eastern orthodox christians <14> Tom Hanks has seen his better days .. he is on the way out .. but doesn't know it yet I guess <5> nytol <0> Tom Hanks is loved around the world. <8> so the presidential release absolves the state of Louisiana from its responsibilities, boy, thats handy. <6> Herzen we were discussing that today <0> 230 million international opening? <6> I rad the book...I will not pay to see the movie <0> That is probly 100 percent or 400 percent profit in one weekend. <13> Comet -- but who do we have to replace all the old actors?? sure haven't seen many who will fit the bill <15> cry read the da twinky code <12> i can't figure out why ppl are so insecure in their faith that a movie cn shatter it <3> DarthBurg Funny, a big hurricane devastates an entire region of the country, and all you care about is Democrats losing their jobs. <4> I don't think Tom Hanks is doing a worse job than he has previously...it's just people are done with Tom Hanks. He's tom hanks. Seen it. <6> sintient..the more the holy rollers railed against it...the more its sales increased <0> Someone with that kind of box office pull is not on the way anywhere accept to the bank and to the movie set. <10> Kaliuna, 50 cent is the next Tom Hanks <0> So why would you say he is on the way out? <14> kali .. I haven't a clue who will replace them. <13> no way herzen <8> FedUp well, like I said, its a damn good thing Louisiana is not controlled by the GOP <13> Comet -- nor do I -- <4> it's like will smith. Will smith is the same damn character in every movie he's been a part of <0> He has nuns giving him publicity. <4> no surprises, same guy <6> panini...I thought about the books premise after I read it... <4> he doesn't act, he just walks on screen & talks. <8> FedUp we know what you would be saying, if that were the case. <15> louisiana is a corruted state <6> suna..or shoots up the screen <12> i haven't read the book, but it sound like it might be the plot of an "Alias" episode <0> Why don't you see what republican trent lott has to say about katrina preperation and response. <0> He has no home.
