<1> and if you want to be cynical
<1> what P_O said
<3> a-theist - To me, 'ignorant' means 'uninformed, but not realizing you are uninformed, and so making ***umptions and judgements wrongly but confidently.'
<1> yeah
<0> P_O.. and that is also a shame, the us really need not go anyplace else for any of it;s needs
<1> or maybe you are informed but you choose not to be
<0> we have all we need here
<5> JanetB, some countries simply have more of a certain natural resource than we do.
<1> its not even about that
<1> "Before all the world was America" - John Locke
<1> in a way to me that says before all the world was one
<0> P_O, that maybe, but we really do not need to go out side this country
<1> janetb: america was built on the hard works from people from other countries
<5> JanetB, it's sort of hurtful to the economy in my eyes to be totally isolationist.
<5> Any trade you choose not to make is an opportunity for growth and profit.
<0> a-theist... I know how it was built
<1> truly who really are Americans.. all of us have ancestry that dates back to other countries
<6> i thought ignorant just mean uneducated
<5> And if you choose not to make any outside trades at all...
<0> that does not mean anything now
<7> a-theist so do I , but I don't like it when imigrants illegaly cross and take negatively advantge of er, or welfare
<5> a-theist, you could say that about any nation.
<3> The current situation is that the US is involved in the affairs of many other countries, but still remains uninformed about them. So it is the worst of both worlds.
<7> a-theist and in my own observation having 6 kids
<5> If you believe in the "we all came from Africa" theory anyway.
<7> on WIC
<6> yah, that's it
<7> a-theist being illega, but still recving wic
<6> ignorant means unaware or uninformed or uneducated, period
<7> but oh well
<1> thats what i am saying
<6> none of this 'to me' bull****
<7> that my opnion
<1> make it easier for them to be legalized
<6> it's definiton is very clear
<6> nothing veague about any part of it
<1> i would say 99% of them are not trying to harm America
<1> its not exactly easy to be legalized
<2> u really live in Bangladesh?
<6> there is no 'opinion' about what it means.
<7> a-theist that is make easyier for them to go on goverment program

<1> i am in queens
<7> a-theist and some Have 6 kids on wic

<5> JanetB, I don't know about making it easier, but there's pretty real reasons to leave immigration pretty open.
<7> a-theist I am in jeresy
<1> i know that
<7> good night
<1> thats why i said in jersey
<0> P_O, and they would be?
<6> a-theist: your nick intrigues me:P (typo prolly)
<7> sleep
<1> its not
<1> its exactly what it says it is
<5> JanetB, well the main, and most important one to me, is that immigrants are the "soul" of this country.
<5> America has no identity without immigrants.
<1> exactly
<9> plus we could use more doctors/engineers
<7> Sahalee good points thanks for the debate
<0> P_O, at one time yes, but not anymore

<5> JanetB, some people maybe.
<5> goppp, nice speaking with you too.
<1> no one comes here for freebees
<1> they all work hard
<5> JanetB, I'm not talking about the reasons people come here.
<1> i am sure there are some people who are the exceptions
<5> I'm talking about immigration's historical tie with America.
<0> a-theist.. the people that helped us, are not generational americans... the ones comming here have nothing to do with them
<0> are not= are now
<3> Looks very much like the Conservative Party will win in the current federal election in Canada.
<1> so the ones that come here do nothing butharm us?
<5> Sahalee, Herzen will be happy.
<1> Canada needs some conservatives
<1> that country i sout of ocntrol
<6> I've found more often than not that when somebody is very forthcoming about their beliefs (whether or not htey were prompted for them, whether or not anybody has questioned them) and just itching to get into a debate......they are generally very insecure about their beliefs. This of course isn't absolute, but I find it to be true more often or not. That is why I am so ***y.
<3> a-theist - Out of control? Howso?
<1> drugs, alcohol, ***, everywhere.. not exactly the best place to raise your kids eh

<0> and he should not have been here
<1> and i think he is not the only one
<1> there are tons of pepole like him
<0> if he entered illegally
<5> JanetB, the other bit I don't get, is what's wrong with trying to exploit conditions, to me that's what capitalism is all about.
<1> he did not enter illegaly
<1> he entered legally overstayed his visa so he could work and pay taxes to america
<0> well then, he entered legally.. good for him...
<1> and worked for 10 years until he got his papers
<9> po: the question is, whats wrong with exploiting people? if you think nothing, then nothing is wrong with exploiting conditions
<6> when someone just comes up to you randomly and starts talking about the religion or whatever (without any apparent reason for it, and especially when they've been known to do it on a regular basis) they are usually not confident at all in what they say they believe. If you take bets that they will change their minds within a couple years, you usually win
<6> (i've won)
<6> ;p
<0> if he oever stayed his visa, then he should have been sent back
<3> a-theist - "Drugs, alcohol, *** everywhere"? What are you basing that on? In my experience those things aren't any more prevalent than any other similar country. The Conservatives aren't proposing to re-instate Prohibition, either.
<2> how is capitalism bad?
<0> see thats the problem .... staying beyond there legal time
<1> i go to canada often sahalee
<1> infact i am going there in couple of weeks

<1> the country is really otu of ocntrol
<0> he should not have been allowed to become a citizen
<5> Doobs, I think it's wrong, but it's what our society is built around.
<1> all my cousins and freinds that i grew up with that movfedto canada
<9> Its not. I still have my scruples about exploiting people, however, and regardless of economic system
<1> are realy messed up
<3> a-theist - That is too bad, I'm sorry to hear.
