<0> everyone hates him eventually <1> let's take a minute to appreciate the fact that Howard Dean is the Chairman of the DNC <2> :D <3> wow. That Colorado teacher who was suspended, shaved his head <2> Hannity points that out everyday on his show <4> Oh goodie... new ballots this year in my county... is it just me or were the punch cards really not that hard to figure out. <5> US_Male lol, link? <3> bud, I saw him on TV <3> I wonder if it's on Google anywhere <2> Hannity has memorized a list of outrageous things Dean has said and recites them all the time <1> Glock21: Howdy do <6> Glock, hard to say, did the Republicans win? If so the ballots were obviously too confusing <1> hahahahaha <5> Glock21 we've used the scantron's here for years. pretty flawless. fill in the circle, slide in the slot <4> bud`... that's what we're apparently going to be using now... with a machine that you stick the scantron in to tabulate your vote and also gives you a chance to make sure you didn't overvote, undervote, etc. <2> anyone watchin foxnews?
<2> that kid is on <5> best voting machine ever -> http://www.strangepolitics.com/images/content/6394.jpg <2> colmes lol <1> bastille1: gotcha <1> this kid is sharp <1> he's defeating liberals at like 14 <1> makes me proud <2> colmes just got schooled by a 16-year old <1> 16? <1> aw <2> yeah <2> haha <1> I was still a liberal then <1> well <1> no I wasn't <4> Crap... my polling location change... it used to be right across the street. <4> Boo! <4> :P <7> ty <4> Our primary is only a couple weeks away now. <1> why so early <4> Seems to vary from State to State when they are held. <1> they are in July in GA <4> Remember the 2004 primary? <1> ah <1> yeah <1> early March for the DNC nom right? <4> I wonder if they use the same primary dates for non-presidential election years... never really noticed. <1> me neither <4> On non-presidential election years there usually isn't any national awareness or coverage for primary stuff. <6> Kentucky's primaries are the last Tuesday in May <1> Teddy? <6> Glock, most states use the same dates, maybe all of them <6> I know Kentucky does, and Florida does <1> OH <1> Kentucky <1> dur <1> ahem <4> Some hokey referendums this year... expanding the m***-transit area for more bus coverage... more cash for schools and such... switching a fire protection district for a small satellite town from one town to another. <4> Illinois Republicans are desperate to pick a gubernatorial candidate that has at least some chance at winning. <1> I got it <6> Not likely to happen, sadly, Illinois seems to be becoming more and more Democratic, despite downstate Republicans <4> Well the chi-town/downstate divide even pits dems against each other on some issues. <4> Which is a good thing, especially on guns... a lot of downstate dems won't support gun bans for fear of losing their downstate seats. <8> speaking of which, gun show this weekend <8> reno,nv <4> Our US Congressional district here encomp***es our liberal campus towns... but is big enough that the rural conservative vote still drowns it out. The State Congressional district isn't so big and dems have it now. <9> nvm <1> John Linder is my congressmen <1> hehe <1> I'm lucky <4> We have a fairly new guy for our congressman... Tim Johnson (not the senator) <4> He's a big name around here because he was the State Congressman for the area for decades. <4> Made the move to the federal rep position years ago. <1> ah <6> Linder's a good guy, my Congressman beat George Clooney's dad for the seat last election <1> shheeeew <4> Tough district for a repub though... covers both the University of Illinois flagship campus and Illinois State University. <4> A lot of liberal voters who don't necessarily live in the district, vote in the district.
<4> The dem voter groups push students to change their voter registration to their campus address... repub voter groups push students to keep their registration at home. <4> And students who get stopped by them typically have no clue as to which they should do and complacently do what they're told. Fun to watch on the quad. <1> hey now <1> I'm a student <1> haha <4> "typically" <10> Students get stopped by whom? <4> There are always the rebellious exceptions. <1> yeah... <4> sintient... the voter groups from one side or the other. <1> the parties use colleges as the motor of their campaigns <1> locally <1> kidna... <4> They yell and haggle on the campus quad before every election trying to get as many voters registered in the way they want. <10> Colleges are seen as rich impressionable citizen corals. <6> They use them, they're not the main source of political activists though, Dems rely more on unions, Republicans on church groups <6> At least in most areas <1> yep <1> Georgia is pretty conservative on the whole though <1> outside of Atlanta that is <6> Yep, finally got past that nasty conservative Democrat trend and went pure Republican <4> Young folks are a bit too unreliable when it comes to voting... and voter groups are still trying to harness the untapped resource for their agendas... so far without much luck. <10> 178 million elligble voters estimated. <10> and 100 million vote. <1> my gf changed her mind and voted for Kerry last minute <1> ugh <10> A majority is out there they just don't go to the booths. <4> sintient... it's probably better that people who don't care, don't vote. <6> Too many people vote as it is <9> a lot of ppl didnt even vote for bush <9> bc they heard about the exit polls <4> I'd argue that people who aren't well informed should probably avoid the polls as well. <9> and figured it wasnt worth going <10> I just see that as the reason for such competative lobbying of voters. <9> how's that for a conspiracy theory? <6> I'd like to see turnout get down to around 25%-30% <10> You could win the presidency just by rallying voters who don't vote. <10> I think it was the other way around thebarry. <1> hahahaha <11> why are the conservatives always trying to get people to not vote <11> so sad <10> People said that gore won prematurely. <4> You can try... but most people who don't vote... honestly don't care. <1> hahaha <1> lithium.... <1> People= The Media said <4> They don't know enough about it, they don't know who to believe, and they don't want to take the time to fix either one. <11> what? <1> haha <10> Education is not a prerequisite for voting. <6> I remember I was a little apprehensive for a few minutes when I heard about those exit polls in 2004, then I looked into them and went from nervous to happy <4> Lithium-... I'd encourage EVERY *well-informed* person to vote. I'd discourage people from voting who are not paying attention or who do not care. <10> Thanks. <1> vote or die" <1> that was a great one <10> Doesn't matter though informed or not they can vote. <1> I bet Kerry loved that <11> Glock21: how many people voted for bush based on his religion and without any real knowlege of the issues? <10> I voted just to get puff daddy off my back! <1> hahaha <6> Lithium, about zero <10> j/k <1> does anyone know that <12> Lithium- voted for bush because their husbands told them to <4> If you don't know anything about the issues at hand... you are obviously only going to be a tool of propaganda and any real intellectual balance on the issue will be drowned out by ignorance. <10> Oh man I hear "Bush is a good christian like me," all the time. <11> exactly <6> Jimmy Carter was a good Christian too, don't think many Bush voters would go for him <4> Uninformed voters are on both sides. Well informed voters are on both sides. <1> ooooooh <1> Rockfish: I liked that <4> This isn't a dem/repub problem... it's a general voter problem. <11> carter didnt wear his religion on his sleeve
