<0> She was from Berkeley, but she later married some other old guy in Lafayette. <1> Ahh but always around the bay area.. <0> yeah <1> You are probably pretty centrist right ? I usually fine people who grew up here to be pretty centrist and the far leftists to be peopel who moved here. <0> I don't even think she heard most of it. She never talked about Ray. She just liked the sound. <1> KGO ? I dont remember that name.. but We would listen usually late at night. <1> taliafero hmm.. <0> Yeah everything was... racism.. <1> yeah I dont recall that name. <1> Did yo go to Berkeley High ? <0> Nope. I'm from Glendale. But I went to UC Berkeley for college. <1> Ahh ok... <1> New riders of the purple sage have a song about Glendale dont they ? <1> hehe.. <2> elections: meet the new boss, same as the old boss <1> I seem to remember something about that or I have the city mixed up in my head.
<0> don't know. I'm kind of out of touch, musically these days. <1> Me too, They were a very old band. <1> Sombody robbed the Glendale Train... <1> I think that was the lyrics <1> Kinfd of folksy rock.... I liked the band.. <0> Glendale has gone upscale since I lived there. Seems more prosperous. <1> I dont really even know it.. I am one of the most ignorant californians for someone who has lived here 22 years.. <0> in 60's/70's Glendale had the same vibe as your kind of run-down San Jose areas. But now it feels more Walnut-Creek-ish. <1> I havent really got out much and explored different towns. <0> I was driving around a lot just a few years back. These days I'm stuck at the computer, and futzing with the yard more. <1> Just the Bay area East bay walnut creed concord lafayetter and then up the northern coast, and I5 But never stopping on I5 except for food gas or the bathroom <1> and then the coast highway or I5 to LA <1> But for example I am one of few Californians who has never been to Yosemite.. <0> There are a lot of cute little areas. Most interesting drive close to Berkeley is the delta. <1> Thats rare <1> Yeah I dont know the delta that well either. <0> Follow the Sacramento river. There's a road that goes up by the river. Through Isleton. <1> Some day I need to take about a week with my family and just go driving around california taking in sights. <0> yeah that part of the state if pretty fun to explore. I5/99 is all supermarkets and gas stations. Not much to see. <1> Yep <0> What's amazing to me his how busy 99 is. That used to be the middle of nowhere, but now that freeway is solid cars. <1> I5 is pretty boring till you get to the forrest and up around Mt Shasta <1> 99 is the cut off to I5 ? <1> I forget the name <0> 99 is parallel to 5. The east side of the central valley. That's where all the people are, really. 5 is on the desert side. <1> The one where you go over he carquinez bridge and follow hat to Sacramnto till you hit I5 and then veer north <1> aHH <1> Highway 1 is nice. <0> that's 160 I think? That goes over that bridge. That's a nice drive. Highway 1 also a good drive, though can be heavy traffic. The delta is dead, traffic-wise unlike the coast. <0> there's a bridge, if you follow highway 4 all the way out. <0> this goes up into the delta. <1> I remmeber one trip to Cannon Beach Oregon one winter and driving up there with 5 of us guys and the road was a mess but it was beautiful and we like ran into a fresh landslide at 1AM in the morning driving th pacific coast. <1> Thats a beautiful drive if you havent done it <1> especially in Oregon <1> You are so high above the ocean yet so close <0> I've gone up 101 about as far as Eureka or so. Haven't had the time to make it up to Oregon though. <1> and a lot of places to stop like sea lion caves and "the Devils churn" <3> big sur? <1> If you every get the chance if you havent alreasdy do see the Devils churn its amazing... <0> Sounds interesting. Will google 'devil's Churn'. I don't believe I have seen this. <1> Its a little rock inlet very small up in oregon where the water crashes into it an dyou can walk down a trail to it, its like you know if you were to jump in there there is no way you would come out alive. <0> There's the California 'Old Faithful' geyser. This is kind of a goofy tourist attraction in the Napa area. <1> The surf just Crashes with such force into the boulders or cliff.. <1> Yeah I would like to see that, and I havent even seen that and yet Ive been through that area. <1> Ive been out to, trying to think of the name of it, its like out toward nicasio and something point.. <0> It's a silly thing, the Old Faithful. Just a notch above the 'Mystery spot' -- but intersting for just a quirky day out. <1> you can hike out to where the land ends and the ocean and there is a river and on the other side is another county <4> wonder spot <1> Point something <4> is nuts <4> nothing is right in wonder spot <3> heh <0> hmm, is wonder spot, similar to the 'Mystery Spot'? <1> We hiked out there and I saw mountain lion tracks fresh on the beach <3> "south of the border" <1> fresh meaning within 24 hours <5> did u guys hear about the americans funding terrorists to destroy the canadian stock market and economy to take it over <5> ? <3> no, fill us in <5> ot <5> it r bery interosting
<1> I wish I could think of the name of it, also saw 2 chicks hiking topless and they came up to us to ask questions hahaha <1> Sure, Ican help you <4> no <4> the wonder spot <4> is a place <4> where nothing is right <1> On yeah, Point Reyes of course. <1> Forgot the name <1> Abusive Domain or User <1> There was a number of polls of different countries. Europe is much more xenophic in general than the USA, even while people like the minute men and the press have peopel hyped up on illegal immigration. Studies Found americans were stil a lot more appreciative of immigrants, thought a lot higher of immigrants than Europeans, Had positive views of Immigrants, Etc.. I mean the next time a european or canadian rips into us Gringos <1> Rip em back.. <1> The difference is substantial which is why I think they have more of an ingrown problem than we do <0> Lot of 3rd world people -- still pissed about Colonialism. I think USA gets some baggage from that, just for having so many whtie guys and being the same skin color. <1> systemic problem with immigrants <1> ke6i, yep and the irony is we werent colonial at least nothing like france, britain even the netherlands. <0> Or at least in Philippines where the USA was super-colonial, there isn't so much an issue. <1> Our colonialism if you want to call it that which isnt really what the term means is we partnered wiht countries stategically in the cold war and we developed there 3rd world countries into decent economies by building their infrastrucuture, of course we did it for profit but they profited too and it wasnt conquest it was contract. <1> In the Phillipines we were there heros.. We were their saviors from the Hated Japanese. <1> trhey wanted us.. <1> Not so much now <1> I mean not there is a lot of terrorism and anti americanism in the phillipines <0> I thought I read some poll that Philippines still had relatively positive view of the USA. <1> Yeah I think they do <0> there is terrorism in PHilippines. But it's a Muslim minority <1> Generally <1> Its fringe militant in fact islamic extremists <0> seperatist group, I believe. <1> There are some elements in phillipines which are extremely political and will kill for it, both traditional leftists (if that isnt an oxymoron) and some newer islamic fanatics. <1> yeah <1> The Soviet union people forget worked hard in these countries to develope revolutions in the cold war. <1> But yeah we still have pretty good relations with the phillipines.. <0> Too bad Phillippines is kind of basket case, economically though. <1> and often the British meant well in their colonialism, they thought they were both helping the people and making profits too but they ended up actually taking military control. Main cases in point being Palestine and India <1> Yeah.. They are to Asia what Haiti is to the equatorial islands near north and south america <6> Free, mind +v'ing my main client? I can't run identd atm. :\ <1> They got screwed by some bad leaders and we supported some of them for cold war reasons. Its sure nice the cold war is over and we dont have to pick the lesser of evils, or the most anti soviet dictator anymore. <1> astro sure <6> Thanks. ****ty connection, sadly. :\ <3> glug <7> Not a big fan of connecting from that second client, where I can avoid it. <7> heh <0> I'm not really sure what the point of the whole British empire was really. I think they did it for money, initially. And then later, became an obssession to collect as many countries as possible. <1> Well I better get to bed at least I dont have an 8:00 appointment tommorrow... <7> Free: Can you make this stick? <0> cu <1> Ihave a 10:30 APOINTMENT ;) <7> Across disconnects, atleast for tonight? <1> yEP TAKE it easy.. <1> night <7> Great! Thanks. :) <7> G'night <7> Anything new in the news? <0> they found 9 severed heads in Iraq Tuesday. And another 8 severed heads last Saturday. <0> East Timor unraveling. <7> Who's heads? <0> Not sure exactly. I think Sunni claims they were SUnni heads chopped off by Shiite militias. <0> Maybe the severed head thing isn't that unusual for Iraq. Though it is extra guesome finding 17 severed heads in a few days I think. The heads were in fruit boxes, article said <8> 8 heads in a dufflebag? <0> Heh, not in dufflebags. <8> :) <7> In fruit boxes. <0> 9 heads in the USA would be crazy big news. In Iraq it barely registers. <9> hi <10> islamist terrorists are truly medieval <8> Hello. <7> ke6i: An M1A1 firing on a building in a US City would be huge news... in Iraq... its nothing. <9> gl, really? <8> They would get more point from me is they put the heads on pikes. <9> sup? <10> what do you mean, 'really' ? yeah, taking heads and displaying them is medieval <10> if they did that, Chrono-Z , they'd be risking detection and arrest, nu <9> gl, that doesn't make sense, you're talking medieval europe? <10> safer to display on video and more often than not bury the victims
