<0> did that image HAVE TO BE THAT BIG i mean really..
<1> heh
<2> so all this trouble was just caused by the fact that i didnt zoom in enough when saving the image of the cell
<3> microhaxo: I'm talking to humate...you weren't here when we were talking earlier
<1> master kyle-?
<4> jorg, what were your settings when you adjusted the canvas?
<3> humate: no, I think you're fine. you said your have a 6 inch (squared?) canvas to work in, and you said it's going to be composed of multiple smaller images...well your 900x586 images is smaller (3 inches wide), so you have room to fit maybe one or two more of similar sized images in that canvas area
<1> 1px 1px and relative
<4> don't you want 2 px?
<4> can't really have a half pixel border
<1> i was kinda hoping for 1px .. 1px white and 1px black.
<1> the problem doesnt occur while using 2px border
<4> ok, now think about it
<4> if you make your image 1 px wider
<2> what has happened is that whatever you are viewing in the microscope image program... it will save as 900x568 300dpi... so i wasnt zoomed in very far... i then went into photoshop and cut out the cell i wanted... so i only got a smaller number of pixels
<4> how are you going to fit a 1px border on EACH side of your image?

<2> i then pasted that into my 6 inch squared canvas set at 300dpi... and it was tiny
<1> kyle-: i guess it wont work out then
<4> ?
<4> you want 2px man
<4> that puts 1px on each side of your image
<3> humate: if it's tiny, I guess you need your microscope to zoom in further
<3> humate: focusing in on that cell you want
<2> what i was doing was not zooming in enough because i thought it looked bad... but then pasting it into photoshop and then it was tiny... where as if i zoom right in to a single cell and save as a photoshop file... the resolution is always 900x568
<2> ooops
<2> i didnt mean to cut and paste that sorry
<2> http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cundell/
<1> kyle-: if u dont mind have a look at this avatar, i want a similar one: http://img522.imageshack.us/my.php?image=avatarzq2.jpg
<1> i believe that is two borders (1px white and 1px black)
<2> thats what i meant :)... theres two images... one i zoomed in... the other i zoomed out. both are 900x568 300dpi i think
<1> or?
<2> http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cundell/zoomed%20out.jpeg ... the background is white in that
<4> yea, that's what it looks like to me
<4> you could always make a new image that is 2px larger width and height than the original image and then paste that image into your new image
<1> but then why doesnt this fail in my case
<4> then create your black border
<1> this technique works fine with larger pictures
<1> ill try
<4> or just take the original image and increase the canvas size by 2px in each direction
<3> humate: kinda confused now...maybe you should restate your question =)
<2> hehe
<1> ah
<2> im well confused too lol
<1> great, thx kyle-
<4> yay
<2> thanks for your help valacar... i think its sorted now
<3> humate: ok, you sure? =)
<2> hrmmm i think so
<3> k, good luck then
<2> the microscope software always saves the image at a dimension of 900x568 pixels and 300dpi
<3> that 300 dpi doesn't really matter
<2> so if u zoom out... and then go to photoshop and select a single cell... and cut it out... and paste it into your 6" squared canvas... it was small
<2> but if i do 300% zoom... and save that at 900x568... i can open that in photoshop and select 300 px by 300px
<2> which is 1 inch at that resolution
<2> oh well... hehe... i think i cant explain coz i dont really know what im talking about :)
<3> :(
<3> whats your final image supposed to look like?
<3> in print
<2> hrmmm one moment
<5> noen nordmenn her?
<3> might be easier to work backward
<4> ultrafix, qwesad lidjfaoi eoiwl oPQ KLSDF?
<3> wasrklj qwer opi mopq!
<4> kdnqo cni nasdo?
<3> emzlf
<2> http://www.jcb.org/content/vol165/issue6/images/large/200401040f2.jpeg
<2> something like that
<5> im pretty new to ps, and have a photo taken at daytime, but i want it to look like its taken in the middle of the night. how do i do that except adjust bright/contrast? is there a filter or something?
<3> humate: I think you're fine then. just go to file>new and make a 6 inch squared document with 300 dpi resolution (should be 1800x1800 pixels), then just paste all your cells in there and resize and position them to however you want
<2> it was the resizing that worried me... because it says to uncheck that "resample image" under image > image size
<2> but i think if i save the image at 300% zoom... i can then cut the cell out as 300px by 300px... giving me a one inch square image to paste into my 6" canvas
<3> humate: well you'll have to resample them in order to fit them in that 6x6 inch canvas. I think they just mean you shouldn't resample the 6x6 inch @ 300dpi image
<3> humate: when you say 300% zoom, are you talking about the microscope or photoshop?
<2> microscope software
<3> ah, ok
<2> this isnt quite 300% zoom
<2> http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cundell/zoomed%20in.jpeg

<2> but lets just say it is
<2> and this is like 50% zoom http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cundell/zoomed%20out.jpeg
<2> what i was doing was cutting out a cell from the 50% zoom... which was tiny... and was less pixels than if i zoom in 300% and cut it out as a 300px by 300px square
<2> because both those images are 900x568
<3> I'd say zoom in as far as you need to, in order to isolate area you want, so you get more detail
<3> then you can paste them into your 6x6 inch image and resize (ctrl-t) and position them where you want
<2> theres so many sneaky shortcut keys in photoshop
<2> its not so inuitive to a new use like me
<2> resizing a layer becomes a 30 minute manual reading session
<2> [18:52] <3> I'd say zoom in as far as you need to, in order to isolate area you want, so you get more detail
<2> thats exactly it i think :)
<3> ctrl-t is actually edit>free transform
<3> the 50% zoom isn't going to give you much detail if you're just gonna cut out one cell....so go with the 300% or whatever you need
<2> cool will do
<6> wow
<6> this is what i like to see, people actually communicating in this channel
<6> :)
<6> humate what's going on?
<3> =)
<6> valacar howdy
<2> :))
<6> everything working out good?
<2> i think it is now
<5> is it possible to transform a daytime-photo into a nighttime-photo?
<3> m|ike: don't suppose you got my msg from the other day, did you?
<6> valacar on that site?
<2> i have no idea ultrafix
<6> bc No i don't have any PM's
<6> Pm what you wanted to know now buddy
<3> I'll pm you
<6> great
<6> i have to pee, so PM and i'll brb
<2> lol
<3> =)
<2> how come when u free transform and make something smaller... then free transform and make it bigger... for a while it looks really pixelated... but when u push enter it is fixed
<3> it's just a preview when it's pixelated...so it shows faster
<2> aghh ok
<2> this microscope app is stupid... because if u have a 15" screen like me... u can only zoom in like 400%... if u had like a 24" screen u would be able to zoom in about double that... so more of the pixels that it saves would be cell
<2> so u get a higher resolution image
<2> if u resize the window and make it stupid like long and thin... it just saves a long and thin sliver of cell
<3> are you sure there's no other way to save it (at any size)? that does seem stupid =)
<2> nope... really stupid
<3> you can try setting your screen resolution higher....depending on your video card's max. maybe 1600x1200 or so if you can
<2> yeh unfortunately this monitor isnt very good
<2> 1024x768 is its max
<3> you tried higher settings?
<2> yeh it cant handle them
<3> that ****s :(
<2> i am gonna get a 24" widescreen soon
<3> nice!
<2> waiting for the benq fp241w
<3> lcd?
<2> yeh
<3> cool
<2> 1080p input support
<2> hdmi
<3> I bet that cost a pretty penny =)
<4> is it a tv?
<2> i was gonna get dell 2407fpw but it has banding issues
<2> http://www.benq.co.uk/products/LCD/?product=636&click=showcases|scid|323
<2> it isnt out until mid september so i dunno how much it will be
<3> thats why I haven't switched to lcd yet...color fidelity doesn't seem to be there yet for affordable lcd monitors
<2> yeh thats not so important for me :)
<2> how do u get rid of a selection box
<2> it wont bugger off heh
<3> hide it? ctrl-h....or remove it, ctrl-d
<2> aghh yes
<2> select > deselect or ctrl-d
<2> :)
<3> yeah =)
<2> u are the master of the shortcuts
<3> heh
<3> faster to use keyboard shortcuts =)
<2> yeh :)
