<0> guys i got a question <0> anyone alive here? <1> hey anyone around? <2> JUST ASK <2> ACCORDING TO NETTIQUETTE OF THE 90'S, YES, I AM YELLING <1> I have a router with 1 pc plugged in using ethernet and a laptop using wireless how can I setup file sharing for the laptop and pc does anyone know a tutorial on it? <2> it's basic windows file sharing <2> right click a folder you want to share, enable sharing for it <1> ok
<1> thanks <3> ello ? <4> mornin snowebabe <5> mornin hon <6> [snowe] oh hells bells <7> any one wake <8> have a problem? <7> i want know about something <7> do you know anything about Wall-Plugged Bridge <8> I know what a bridge is. wall-plugged? <7> http://www.shopzilla.com/12_-_cat_id--467__keyword--powerline%20ethernet%20bridge__prod_id--260804015 <7> power line ethernet bridge <8> yeah <7> my work place is about 1000 feet <7> from my home do you think if i use that I can get internet in my home <8> I really doubt it. You might d/l the manual from netgear and read it, but usually, those only work within one buliding <8> because of the transformers on the poles <7> eh... i cant find any other info <7> all is saying 5000 sqr feet <7> only i need 2000 feet cover <8> but you need it in two different buildings <8> guess you can always try it and send it back if it doesnt work <8> I looked thru the docs at netgear.com - doesnt mention using it that way <9> hi all.. <9> anybody in here knows junipers netscreens? <9> if so, anybody knows if its possible to change the mac address on the untrust interface... <10> i've got a SMC router/DSL modem. with 2 PCs connected to it wirelessly. i'd like to connect up a bunch of other PCs to it which are on wired lan. I've got a belkin router which can act as an access point. i've config'd it to be an access point, with an IP on same subnet as the SMC, same channel and SSID. when i connect a PC to the Belkin AP and try ping the SMC router it doesnt reply. the manual of the belkin said something about hooking u <10> ...hooking up to the wan port. i tried connecting a PC to the wan port but it cant ping the belkin or the SMC router. anyone have any ideas? (SSID broadcasts r off) <8> cant be the same subnet <8> what ip range is both? <10> what u mean? its an AP <8> what ips are you using? <10> SMC= 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0. Belkin = 192.168.2.254 255.255.255.0
<8> yeah <10> test PC is 192.168.2.2 etc <8> cant do that <10> i was under the impression an AP gets a wired network virtually onto a wireless network <8> one can be 192.168.2.* and the other could be 192.168.1.* or 192.168.3.* <8> routers route between subnets. if both have the same ip range, how does it know where to route to? <10> but the belkin isnt functioning as a router <10> its functioning as an AP <8> phfft <10> it says its IP routing stuff gets turned off in AP mode. <8> try what I said <10> the manual says u must set the IP to be in the same subnet as the one ur trying to bridge to. <8> well, briding is something else <8> that might work, if you enable it <10> well, its on AP + bridge mode. heh <8> but APs are routers <10> but i think u may be right. <10> cos it says "set your IP address to match your network. connect a cable from the wan port to existing network" <10> all i really want to do is be able to do remote desktop on these 3 PCs which are on a seperate wired network. <10> i had a Wlan card in one of them, and had it sharing the Wlan internet connection. <10> but then i can only remote desktop the Wlan PC. <10> lets say i hook up the belkin as 192.168.3.1. and the other wired PCs on 192.168.3.x how do i get the 3.x pcs to speak to the 2.x PCs? <8> thats fine - it will work, even if the ip ranges are different. tho you might have to forward ports <9> anybody in here knows junipers screenOS <9> compdoc: AP isn't routers... They extend the wired network! ... <11> whats the difference between having a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.0.0? does have a 255.255.0.0 subnet allow you access another subnet on a lan? <9> .. Well, /24 is cl*** C subnets ... and /16 is cl*** B subnets <9> and yes, they are routable... <11> can u plz tell me as you would a noob :p <9> Lope: http://www.computing.dcu.ie/~humphrys/Notes/Networks/network.ip.address.html <12> hello <12> In my very tiny home-LAN, the routers dhcp now got me a different ip adress than i had before. on the router i had installed several port-forwardings to my old adress and it seems that i now have to do all those anew, which ****s! i know my old ip is not taken by anyo other computer on the lan, so how can i force the dhcp to get me my old adress again? i already tried ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew, but that didnt do anyt <9> do ipconfig /all ... write down your MAC address... Logon to your router, go to dhcp option and ***ign the mac address to your old ip... then do i /release ... and /renew... <13> Great. <9> whats great? <11> lets say i have 2 lans in my house (2 diff subnets) how do i connect a PC on subnet A to subnet B? do i need a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0? <14> so I have this router and I'm wondering if I plug in wireless router and disable dhcp if it'll work alright <9> if you want to transmit data between 2 diffirent subnets you'll need some sort og router, hardware, nix, windows server etc. etc. <9> og = of
