<0> hello <0> how can i know the executable that's eating up my bandwidth <1> leatherbk: Don't ask to ask, you keep doing it. <1> abdalla: netstat? <1> abdalla: I think netlimiter will give you just what you want. <2> i am linking 2 dd-wrt 54g routers and have them both connected with wds. neither router is connected physically to another computer, how can i get them to share internet that way? <3> hi <4> Hi all, i got a net problem. I dont know what happend. i havnt changed any of my routers settings. But the last day or so, i cannot connect to any web pages using my browser. irc and most other things are working. i can even ping google, just fine <5> [snowe] oh hells bells <6> mornin snowebabe
<7> mornin hon <8> 10.0.0.0/12 is my network ID they asked me to figutre out how many valid subnets can i get from that which is 14 <8> but what the addresses of those 14 subnets ? <9> hello <9> would anyone have any any idea why I would be having poor and/or non-existent UDP/TCPIP capability in any of my applications such as games needing them? I also notice that I cannot discover or share resources with other computers on my network. Any ideas? <1> leatherbk: You can have 2^(32-12) valid /32 subnets or hosts. <10> folks <10> i'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around some routing issues <8> redondos i dont understabnd <10> i've got a /29 public network, and inside it i have several dhcp stations, and several server <10> one of those servers communicates to clients using SIP <10> the problem is that it identifies itself, with its private ipaddress. <10> this is an easy problem to solve, give it a public ip. <10> but with my existing setup, i'm not really sure how to go about it or what i need to change <10> i have a simple smoothwall box, with two interfaces - private & public, red & green. <10> my SIP-based server has only one interface, and it's ***igned a prviate ipaddress <10> can anyone suggest how i might go about keeping my SIP-based server behind the firewall, but give it a public ip address? <1> leatherbk: How did you come up with that number, 14? <1> marc\cba: I guess that would depend on how Smoothwall is configured. Also, do you even have more IP addresses available from your ISP? <1> marc\cba: But any good SIP client should be able to identify itself as whatever you tell it to. <1> Server, rather. <9> hello <9> I cannot dectect UDP or IPX games (but can choose IPX, but doesn't list IPX in the game).. any ideas? <1> sixian: Your system is screwed up? Check for malware. <10> redondos, no more addresses available <10> also - it is the sip-server that is reporting itself to be <privateip> when the client connects to <publicip> <10> so in a sence - neither are wrong, the server is telling the client it's actual ipaddress <1> marc\cba: Reconfigure this server to identify itself with the correct one. <10> and the client is respecting what / where the server says it is <10> redondos - that is the crux of my question <10> how should i re-organized my network in such a way that i can give my sip-based server a public ipaddress, yet keep it protected by the firewall? <1> marc\cba: You only have one IP address, right? <10> i have a size /29 public network <10> so, 7 public addresses i can use, i guess ;o <1> marc\cba: Right... why did you say 'no more addresses available'? <10> sorry - i thought you meant could i request more
<10> than what i already have available <1> marc\cba: Well, I doubt smoothwall is prepared for this. You need to NAT with proxy ARP. <10> w/ ARP proyxing? <10> what makes you say that? <9> any idea why Starcraft doesn't list UDP option in networking? <8> I DONT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING with custom subnetting <8> can you please just hear me out <1> marc\cba: Because in that way you could configure your SIP server with a public IP address instead of a private one. <1> leatherbk: Yeah? <1> leatherbk: How did you come up with the number 14? <10> that sounds promising, would you mind explaining in a little more detail please redondos? <8> i dont get it man <1> marc\cba: http://www.sjdjweis.com/linux/proxyarp/ <1> marc\cba: A similar setup is described in that page. <8> 10.0.0.0/12 is my network ID they asked me to figutre out how many valid subnets can i get from that which is 14... ok ? the books says the same but i dont know the ADDRESSES of those subnets .... how do i calculate the addresses <1> leatherbk: How did you come up with the number 14? <10> the book says 14? <10> that doesn't sound right.. <10> 255.255.255.255 is essentially a valid subnet <10> and you could fit an awful lot of those in there <10> usually the questions ask you to divide that address up into X subnets <1> leatherbk: You have one subnet: 10.0.0.0/12. You can split it in two: 10.0.0.0/13 and 10.8.0.0/13. You can then split those in two /14s each, leaving you with 4 subnets. Then you can split each in two /15s, leaving you with 8 subnets. Are you following? <10> redondos, so you could get 20 subnets out of that? <1> No, I'd say you can split it in 2^(32-12) /32 subnets. (that's around 100k) <1> A /32 has the subnet mask you pointed out: 255.255.255.255, so it is a single IP address. <1> I'll be back in a while. <11> Can anyone help me understand a 'simple' and by simple i mean probably simple to you guys problem? <11> I am connected to the internet / network via a wireless router. There is 1 other pc also connected to this router. I recently installed virtual pc on my computer, which has also connected to the router itself, it has its own ip. <11> I am having trouble accessing APACHE from the virtual PC to the actual Physical PC <11> Sometimes, i can ping it and sometimes i cant. Im trying to discern what type the problem is here, i could use some suggestions <11> Ill be back later. <12> mani cant figure out how i did this last time <12> you know if you go modem right into a nic with dsl <12> to connect you use XPs PPPoE connect thing <12> well upstairs, i have modem into a router, and then cat5 going downstairs to a switch, and im plugged into the switch <12> well before i dunno how i did it <12> but i could change my tcp ip settings <12> and nstead of going through hte router <12> id get connection right to the modem <12> using the pppoe app on xp <12> but now its not working, cant find out what i did, i tohught i just killed the routers gateway out of tcp ip but its not working <12> anyone at all? <5> [\snowe\] oh hells bells
