<0> hi guys.. any of u develop in here ?
<0> wondering if anyone ever wrote a builder for ncurses
<1> lap_mirk a what?
<0> do u know what ncurses is ?
<2> do you know what u is?
<3> can someone help me with nvidia drivers using twinview on ubuntu?
<3> i have the nvidia driver installed
<3> been googling for hours
<3> i finally have the screen on the correct desktop, but now the other monitor is blank
<3> it wont stretch, it just stays on one desktop
<4> lol
<4> i woulda helped some...
<4> oh well
<5> i installed HPLIP and started the hplip rc script, then restarted cups, and i could then add my HP officejet G85 printer, but when i print a test page, i get "Unable to open the initial device, quitting." so I looked in /dev/ for lp* and there aren't any. any clue what i did wrong?
<2> was there supposed to be?
<5> well i can't print

<2> yes, you said that
<5> so something that is "supposed to be" isn't
<2> I asked was there supposd to be a /dev/lp*
<5> well i thought that lp devices were printers
<2> under bsd print they may be
<2> cups isnt bsd
<5> and it says it can't open the initial device, so i don't know what device it should be
<2> no idea, I dont print, or know cups, whats google say about the error
<6> man MAKEDEV
<2> is he on a 2.2 kernel?
<5> i'm 2.6
<6> dunno but MAKEDEV isn't only for 2.2
<2> right, udev.
<2> MAKEDEV is deprecated
<6> it'll use mknod to create any dev's so long as he aint using udev or something silly
<6> not all distro's use udev rules and he didn't say what distro he's using
<6> they never do
<2> DrMitch: I'm going to ***ume you have all the requisite hardware support modules loaded
<5> lemme doublecheck
<2> I havent seen a current distro using 2.6 NOT use udev
<6> i've had to create dev's before now tho
<2> debain right?
<5> okay, check
<5> i'm using slackware
<2> couldnt be something easy like a poiint and click distro heh
<6> slack is quite backward in a lot of ways... slow to accept new trends sometimes
<6> wouldn't surprise me if he had to use MAKEDEV with it
<2> at least it doesnt ship a 2.2 kernel
<2> *snicker*
<6> anyway...
<7> *cadburys buttons*
<8> Hi. I am accessing my leet shell account with SSH. I am using screen for a number of reasons. If I have more than 3 sessions open, CTRL A+A only goes back and forth between two sessions. How do I access the third? TIA.
<9> slackware is backwards in that it prefers old and stable.
<2> qpt
<2> that rings a bell, a bad one
<8> graz: LOL!
<2> a troll alarm
<8> i done trolled u
<8> u were whining bad like a bitch
<2> can I call 'em or what
<6> cuepeatee: screen allows you to use many many windows in the one screen session... i'm using it as we speak with around 30 windows in the one eterm
<2> awol: troll alert.
<6> yeah i realise...
<8> awol yeah but you're using some gui or something right
<6> cuepeatee: straight ssh to my server
<8> oh ok i am using session the same way you are using window
<8> so i have 3 windows open, but i can only access 2
<6> ctrl_a w will list windows and ctrl_a ? will show help screen and ctrl_a <num> will swap between windows....
<8> oh ok that's what i needed
<6> cuepeatee: first window is always 0 as computers always count 0 1 2....
<8> yup ok it works now
<8> thanks awol
<8> also ban graz please, he is typing "nigger" to me over and over in /msg
<5> i'll just wait til i reboot and see if that fixes it
<6> DrMitch: you should ask Joell as he probably knows more about current slack trends than most in here
<6> graz: i aint looking to start a fight, continue a fight or finish a fight... i aint wanting to fight at all, ever...... i just do what i do....
<2> hmm?
<6> i'll /kb trouble when it's in here... i dont need to start trouble tho
<2> you lost me
<6> qpt

<2> what about him
<6> n/m
<7> sup graz

<11> awol!
<6> !wtf help?
<12> It's been said that help is best gained by asking specific questions and providing ALL relevant details about the distribution being used and the software involved and ALL pertinent errors messages! It is NOT /msg'ing people who didn't ask you to message them! Of course the best help is RTFM! Try http://www.tldp.org :)
<11> stealing my lines! ;)
<6> ask a silly question.... what can ya expect?
<11> indeed
<11> :D
<7> =)
