<0> oops
<0> I ran find / & find / and it'st still listing docs

<4> bom dia

<5> taking mail from clara portugal i see
<4> sniffles?
<5> yo
<4> i work here
<4> and its just the name
<4> a misleading name :s
<5> ah, thats good, cause mail servers are generally easiest to hack =]
<5> damn, clara adsl 20 bucks a month for 2gb?!
<4> no idea, i dont do sales :s
<5> or 17 for use only after 6 pm, thats crazy
<5> thats good =]

<4> its 11h37
<4> just plain working :)
<6> in ubuntu, what's the difference between adept and synaptic and is there a preferred way to update or install packages?
<1> Wb.
<7> chains: so long as you only use the normal package tools and dont use src.tar.gz's ya should be fine.... apt-get, aptitude, adept, dselect, synaptic any of those _should_ keep you safe
<7> chains: personally i think synaptic is about the easiest and most comprehensive tool
<8> does somebody know if there is possible to setfacl on a share mounted from a windows2003 server, with krb5 authentication, and inherited permissions from the ntfs system?
<8> or mount it with inherited permissions
<7> howtoo: you'd probably have to rtfm that one
<8> heh, yeah... been doing so for almost a week now
<8> got another wierd problem too.. when I boot up, the time is set properly.. but as the system runs, the time is going slow...
<8> anybody got a clue...
<7> i've kinda noticed
<7> but i dont run any wincrap... nor would i want to mount ntfs *shrug*
<7> howtoo: setup a dialy cronjob for ntpdate.... or more often if required
<8> it's required every 5 mins at least then..
<8> has to be another way
<8> cant authenticate users if the time don't match
<7> !wtf time?
<9> I heard that time is setting your computer's clocks and system time is explained at http://www.linuxsa.org.au/tips/time.html
<3> just run ntpd
<7> that may help... may not....
<10> I want to run a cron every 15 min' from 1am to 8am only. 01-08/15 * * * * will do it ??
<3> no need gor the zeros
<3> s/gor/for/
<10> so 1-8/15 will do it?
<7> nope
<3> nope
<7> man 5 crontab will tell you how...
<3> 1-8 15 * * *
<10> right...
<7> that's not right either
<10> 15 1-8 * * *
<3> right
<10> right ?
<7> much better
<7> rtfm for all the correct details
<7> never trust irc.... always verify for yourself from the manuals
<10> awol: thanks. every 15 min' at 1-8 hours. got it.
<10> awol: oh, but I trust you
<7> many folks get it wrong... even when they try to get it right
<7> and i aint perfect
<7> i'd be lost without rtfm
<10> awol: wait, so it's */15 1-8 * * *. I need it every 15 min' from 1-8. not once at 15 :)
<7> that's the best skill to develop
<7> Loki99: seems ok to me... but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.... try it and see
<10> thanks
<3> mm, pudding
<4> i'll be back

<11> hello
<11> i sometime receive (too many oprn files on tomcat, catalina.out), how can i trace the problem as from os view?
<6> does BitchX log by default?
<4> dont think so
<6> yah, just found out
<12> it ***ume you're involved in something illegal so don't want logs
<4> logs fill up your disks :P
<12> ya, best to not have logs so you can store more illegal warez
<12> cuz why else would you be on irc, right?
<4> why's that anal fixation on "illegal" stuff?
<12> isn't that what irc is for??
<4> q.e.d. :s
<12> indeed
<13> How can i use windows-key in Gnome+Compiz? I've mapped to the "Gnome"-menu and works just fine until i enable Compiz
<14> If I have www.domain.com as an A record, is it better to add domain.com as another A record, or add it as a CNAME?
<14> I've been seeing it done both ways lately
<14> I guess it would depend on what I want to do with said domain
<15> you can add domain.com IN A <IP>
<15> or
<15> ops
<15> @ IN A <IP>
<15> wich is the same thing
<14> yes, I'm aware that @ is a wildcard
<15> its not a wildcard
<15> but defenetly you must have A record for domain.com
<14> this I know
<14> howto: where is your moose?

<16> ah, well
<16> I have an old dual ppro server at home
<14> but it has 512mb ecc ram, and 3x18.2gb 10,000rpm scsi drives
