<0> i wanted to set it up to do this process
<0> a good bunch of it was automated
<0> just had to run the client, drop the .nzb file in a directory and it would automatically start downloading files, check them for errors, repair them with par2 files if necessary, extract them, then have a script move them to another machine on my LAN
<0> i find myself hesitating often. like i'm always forgetting or re-thinking what i'm about to do
<0> feeling like i'll never be as fluent with linux as i'd like to be
<1> chainz: play with debootstrap sometime... it'll teach ya heaps... and live cd creating... lotsa fun
<0> is that for all linux dists?
<1> debian based... like ubuntu
<2> nubuntu?
<3> nubuntu ??
<3> WTF is that... ubuntu with what ?
<2> linux for noobs
<2> www.ubuntu.com
<3> hehehehehehehehe

<2> KEKEKEKE

<2> :|
<1> !wtf fish?
<0> anyone know much consumer law here?
<0> specifically in regards to paypal?
<1> IANAL!
<0> i sold a notebook on ebay and i guess the person had their account stolen so it was an unauthorized purchase
<0> now paypal wants the money back
<1> did you send the laptop?
<0> yes
<0> i sent it and received payment
<0> a week later i get an email saying it was all under investigation
<5> if ebay lack of security they should pay
<0> supposedly i broke one of paypal's policies, sending to an unconfirmed address
<5> oh
<0> they don't exactly outline that policy or remind you of it at the time of transaction
<0> i'm thinking it's gotta be bs
<0> this should be between the person who had their account stolen and their credit card company
<6> so i'm browsing freshmeat for webmail solutions, and the list is long and varied. I'm looking for something uber-lightweight that doesn't require php - can anyone make a recommendation?
<7> what language were you hoping for it in?
<8> Where's my shirt?
<9> resonant openwebmail?
<7> Qwell[] where's my shirt?
<8> touche
<7> mm nothing like blue mountain
<7> brb rebooting teh suk workstation
<6> hmm i didnt see that one, i'll look for it though.
<7> re
<7> what does ( ) do in bash?

<7> (sleep 5; echo 'blah') &
<7> like, what's the point of the ( ) ?
<7> I ***ume so you bg the whole job instead of just the last portion?
<2> subshell
<7> right, to bg the whole job
<10> Qwell[]: make me some images

<10> their advertising has won!
<8> Joell: http://forums.digium.com/viewtopic.php?t=12814 Not even a specific job mention? :P
<10> Director of Marketing Communications
<10> I'm applying!
<10> 'Director'
<10> wooot
<9> later all
<4> I look good in hot pants.
<11> hey, I had to make a USB key that contained a firmware upgrade for a piece of hardware (HDTV reciever). The key is inserted into the back of the reciever and when the reciever is powered on the update begins. The usb key contains only a bootable ext2 partition and 2 small directories within. I'd like to distribute the files to windows users so they can make their own upgrade keys without having to use linux. I don't think windows supports
<11> I was thinking maybe it would be possible to write a .bin file directly to the stick.
<2> dd
<10> as usual, microsoft forgets cursive fonts
<11> hmm can I make dd copy just 1 partiton?
<8> dd on the partition itself
<11> the mount point?

<8> no, the partition in /dev, like /dev/hda1
<11> hmm, that's what I'm doing but the output file is ending up huge
<8> well, yeah
<8> it ends up exactly the size of the partition
<11> the partiton is only 10 megs
<12> fdisk -l /dev/hda1
<12> dd if=/dev/hda1 of=firmware.iso
<11> dd if=/dev/sda1 of=./upgrade.bin
<12> how big is the file you get?
<11> keeps growing hundreds of megs
<12> bs=512 count=1
<11> ok, that prouced a 512k file
<11> or just 512
<12> oh, i'm an idiot. 512 bytes, count=1 means 1 time
<11> so count=20?
<11> er 200
<11> er...
<12> heh if it's exactly 10mb and you know that's true, you can try bs=512k count=20 yea
<11> no it's not exactly
<11> it's just 1 10MB partition followed by freespace
<11> I guess I don't care if I copy a couple extra megs of freespace
<11> if it's going on a clean flash drive that is big enough
<11> correct?
<12> NatureTM, just do freaking cat /dev/sda1 > firmware.iso
<11> lol ok
<11> lol that's getting big too
<11> I'll see if the dd works
<8> nub
<11> damn, dd for windows doesn't support block devices
<12> you're.. on windows?
<11> both
<11> I wanna make something win users can use
<11> but I was dding in linux
<11> because win users can't write ext2
<11> I was hoping I could find a way to copy the .bin/.iso to a device in windows
<12> liek magicISO?
<2> rawrite
<2> .exe
<2> is there a command that randomizes the order of lines from stdin to stdout?
<2> sort of the opposite of sort
<12> rl..
<2> rl?
<12> rl.
<2> rl isn't a command
<2> or do you just like saying random letters?
<12> it's a utility, short for randomize lines
<12> let me see if i can find it
<12> if you're on debian you can apt-get install randomize-lines , or go to http://ch.tudelft.nl/~arthur/rl/
<13> yo! i need some help if someone is willing to spend most of today helping me!
<13> ???
