<0> the shell dies ElChupey
<0> exactly as intended
<1> ic
<0> but
<1> well i guess thats nice to have =0)
<1> but not what I intended
<0> ElChupey: but.. you know i could overcome it instantly?
<0> i could login..
<0> and do
<0> export TMOUT=0
<0> and thats it..
<0> idle forever
<1> lol yah
<1> if you caught it your saying..hacking
<1> as root say
<1> i wanted it to log the user off

<0> i could even set up a simple thing to send an ls constantly
<0> so that when i walked away..
<0> it would just ls forever..
<0> until i came back :)
<1> ic
<1> thats cool
<1> but not what i wanted
<1> =0(
<1> oh well
<1> i have other problems
<1> like mounting a fricking ntfs drive
<1> lol
<1> if hd's arent mounted...why arent they hot swappable?
<2> Does anyone know how to get fbdesk working? (Automatically starts /w fluxbox ect.)
<0> Onray_p: gentoo-wiki has a nice example of how to get it working..
<0> !google gentoo-wiki fbdesk
<3> http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-286217-view-previous.html?sid=9a32daf95d226c186aa6d481c47b54b2
<0> ugh
<0> not that
<0> !google gentoo-wiki.org fbdesk
<0> :?
<0> two seconds
<0> Onray_p: http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Howto_fbdesk
<0> fluxbox wiki.. doh :P
<0> heh
<2> I also get the 'unknown event! (14)' that I've been seeing on the forums, any solutions?
<0> when you do what?
<2> When running fbdesk from a terminal
<4> BOOOOO!
<0> ARTGHGHGHGH
<5> Crumbs.
<2> Is there a different ap I should use for icons? What's perferred in fluxbox?
<0> i believe fbdesk is the prefered app
<0> but i dont use it at all.. as i dislike icons on my desktop
<2> Do you like editing the menu yourself or is there an app, (other then fluxconf) that works reasonably well?
<0> within gentoo there is an app called fluxbox-regenerate_menu ..
<0> which i use ..
<0> er.. not re just generate
<2> Is there a solution for when part of the menu tends to stay onscreen? I know right-clicking on the title bar works, but it's still a little annoying.
<0> Onray_p: i dont believe so
<2> I didn't think so, guess I'll play with fbdesk later... I don't like icons much either, but certains programs seem to be several levels deep in the menu.
<2> Thanx for the url...
<1> when i go to mount this hd it calls it "special" and doesnt mount it and im kinda sure i installed ntfs driver
<1> what can i do?
<1> im not positive its ntfs either
<0> Onray_p: im sure you could probably use some desktop candy .. gdesklets etc to get similar ..
<0> for instance superkaramba has some nice taskbars?
<2> Oh, that reminds me, is there a way to mount ntfs file systems, my debian system will allow it, but only root can access it, I've tried changing the rwx flags on the dir it's mounted on, and even change the owner, it looks like to command is sucessful but root is still the only one with access.
<0> Onray_p: add umask=000 to it
<0> as an option
<1> its not in mtab either
<0> thats not mounted then ElChupey
<2> Oh, I think I read something similar somewhere, but didn't think a mask would make difference. Thanx for help, btw you seem to be the only person helping in here everytime I'm here, keep up the good work. Gotta go. cya.
<0> heh
<0> :)
<5> ;)
<0> McDuck!
<0> McDuck!!
<0> McDuck!!!

<0> McDuck!!!!
<0> heya [Raptor] :p

<1> so do you have any suggestion znx
<1> how about i start from the beginning
<1> i made dir
<0> :o
<5> crikey
<0> do you have the ntfs module ElChupey ?
<5> No.
<1> think so yes
<6> no, new box is gay medidacenter
<1> how can i check?
<0> ElChupey: what distro?
<1> fc4
<1> i forgot the command fro the list
<0> !google linux-noob.com ntfs
<3> http://www.linux-noob.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16
<6> but the price i bought it for its specs was all
<0> ElChupey: see the kernel-ntfs-version ..
<0> you can Yum that
<0> yum kernel-ntfs-VERSIon
<0> replacing with your kernel version
<1> yah thats what i did
<0> ok..
<0> mount -t ntfs /dev/hdXX /mnt/somewhere ?
<7> grrr
<7> rfc's
<7> too damn long :(
<0> MaddenD: what you need?
<7> bgp
<1> mount: special device /dev/hdd1 does not exist
<7> 1771
<7> maybe both 1996 and 1771
<1> the two new hd's are on the 2nd chain ...so its hdc and hdd right?
<0> ElChupey: so it doesnt exist
<0> ElChupey: ls -l /dev/hd*
<0> or maybe
<0> ls -l /dev/hd?
<0> which is neater :p
<1> it has one through six!!!
<1> they are all hda though?
<0> ElChupey: no hdb or hdc ?
<1> no
<0> so thats the issue then.. its not turning up as other drives
<7> maybe the partition information is stored on hda0 ?
<1> the hd that is on now is one w/ logical
<1> its not recognizing the other physical drives
<8> :)
<5> :-)
<1> how do i fix this issue?
<5> Think happy thoughts!
<0> heh
<0> ElChupey: idk.. what sort of drives are they?
<0> ide?
<1> yah
<6> happy thoughts are always good
<1> jsut regular ide hd's
<0> well.. they should turn up under hd[a-d] ..
<0> ElChupey: fdisk -l
<1> just hda's
<0> so you dont have the other drives at all
<0> try searching dmesg for entries
<6> ole lady is bazK HERE. damned caps but my point....
<0> heh
<0> ElChupey: dmesg | grep -i ide
<6> and damned tv card too
<1> what am i looking for?
<0> ide0 .. ide1 ..
<0> some entries like that
<0> they might not be there..
