<0> some isa stuff too
<1> mmmm, crawfish
<0> i dont understand "crawfish trap"
<0> translator help :)
<2> i refuse to eat things that crawl on the bottom and eat fish ****
<2> :P
<1> I just installed a new isa card friday. well, "new", new to that system, though we've had it around for a while. have one of these aroun dtoo that I'm definitely keeping until we need it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Dialogic-D-41H-4-port-half-length-ISA_W0QQitemZ5872793118QQcategoryZ64083QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
<0> 99$ o_0
<2> what the hell kinda card is that?
<2> netwoking?
<0> phone if i understood
<0> voice thing
<3> phone
<3> yea

<2> maybe so
<3> dialogic make phone stuff
<2> 100 bucks
<2> good god
<3> worth it
<0> is anybody using or tried Xgl interfaces?
<3> trust me
<0> yes its expensive for an is device :)
<1> they're a lot mroe than 100 new. think the pci ones we got in december(16 line) were 2500/pc
<1> and the t1 cards run us about 5k
<2> i was happy when i found my 8bit ISA network card with cable and rj45 on it
<0> !
<1> heh raptor
<3> bofh`: running * ?
<0> http://www.novell.com/linux/xglrelease/
<2> its for an old *** IBM PS/2 machine i have
<1> http://cgi.ebay.com/Dialogic-D-480JCT-2T1-U-D-480JCT-2T1R2U_W0QQitemZ5872993161QQcategoryZ64083QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem that'll be what we have to get on other dialer. replace the d240 single port with this d480 dual port
<1> nah, automated diaelrs KrAzIe.
<1> have an nec digital pbx for phone system.
<3> okie .....
<3> so how you going analog > digital
<1> analog cards in the pbx
<1> ahve them just for 2 modems, the fax machines,a nd the dialers
<3> so tie line then
<1> phones on various desks are all digital
<1> yeah, 16 line/32 conductor cables off cards like these http://cgi.ebay.com/DIALOGIC-D-160SC-LS-Rev2-ISA-VOICE-CARD-WORKING-NO-RES_W0QQitemZ5874419781QQcategoryZ61841QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
<1> well, 5 of those in the old p3, dialer, 1 new pci version of that card in the new dialer
<1> then just punched down like any other phone on muffin blocks over by pbx
<3> ahhh tdm
<3> muffin blocks ?
<3> wtf
<1> that's what boss calls them, dunno, learned most phone stuff since I got here, so that's name I learned for them. :)
<3> i _ONLY_ punch down on 110 blocks
<3> i hate e66 and bix
<3> Piece of ****, both of them
<1> yeah, 66 blocks looks like
<1> http://www.homephonewiring.com/images/dsl-66-photo.gif
<1> of coruse, have LOTS of those. 8 cabinets on the pbx, plus 100+ ports on this floor(8 conductors to each), 75 pairs to 4th floor on tie line, and I think anotehr 75 pairs to our second floor office. have one wall mostly covered with those 66 blocks. :)
<3> ewwwwwwwwww
<3> ****ing garbage
<1> heh
<1> predates either of us working here, and hell if we're gonna rewire all that
<1> hell, have 112 lines just to the two dialers, so that's 5 66 blocks by itself almost(***uming 2 connectors for each line to dialer, than two for pbx side)
<1> trying to replace that now would be miserable
<1> though I can see how 110 could be better, looking at that page
<3> i would sleep at work for 3 weeks if i had to
<3> i would rip ALL that **** down
<1> haha
<3> either that or i would have never taken the job
<1> doing stuff back on the pbx is such a small part of the job, ti's not really much of a concern
<1> I average maybe 2-3 phones moved per week, if that. so messing with the those for all of 2-3 minutes a week
<3> well hire me
<3> id come live like a hobo in the broom closet till its done
<4> KrAzIe, <3
<3> sup Randall
<4> KrAzIe, not much :)
<1> heh, calling righ tnow to get another one of those d160s and trade in the d240 for a d480 like we were talking about last week
<1> owner decided he wanted ten mroe lines on that dialer. which means upgrading/adding to both sides, outbound liens and internal analog
<1> gonna run out of analog cards on switch at this rate
<3> hahahahahahaha
<3> add a cabinet

<3> OR get a channel back and a t-1 card
<3> bank*
<1> we already have full 8 cabinets that the neax 2000 supports. plus cabinets aren't full, just the cards
<1> don't think I'm using cabinet 7 at all, just need to add mroe cards up there
<1> while I am interested in *, I do like our phone switch.
<3> well * is nice
<3> i would roll out ip phones
<3> one infastructure
<1> yeah, I'd consider it if I was setting up a new office. or consider a hybrid solution i we added a remoet office(here, all 3 companies, while seperate offices, are in same building, so can use one pbx) where I used asterisk and the neax, but to replace out existing system, would cost way too much, for limited benefits
<3> well yeah complete change out would do that
<3> but you can always hang an * box off the nec with a t-1
<3> and have all your ip sets use that
<1> yeah, the problem is doing that without having other issues. that's why I said only for an external office or something. because we have the regular phones, and the dialers, and the central call recording(station side, instead of trunk side, due to owner's insistence on a certain price point), etc. for now, I'll stick witht the neax. :) do have a page on integrating * with a neax bookmarked though in case a good opportunity ever does
<1> open that occasionally and reread it, to make sure I know benefits and potential problems with it, so that I have it fresh in head and think of it if a good use for it arises
<3> i agree with station side recording tho
<3> i dont want you to record me telling your wife what time to meet me out back
<1> no, they have no control over it, just means it's patched in at station side, everything'ss still recorded. but with the dialer, emans that all time on dialer counts as one call(as they connect to dialer, and then have continuous call, just patches in when someone answers
<1> trunk side, we'd get everything as a seperate call. and also wouldn't have a patch for each of 100+ collectors, would jsut have pulls off trunk side, so 9 or so T1/PRIs and 5 copper lines. err, 10 PRI/T1 within the month
<1> luckily, we made sure call recording company would let us trade in the station sside cards for trunk side cards, as owner is going to realize pretty quickly as he exapnds it that trunk side would have been cheaper
<3> lol
<3> well audiolog is great btw
<3> taps the t-1
<3> altho you can get station taps
<3> and you can control recording from your pc
<3> or have continuous recording
<3> its pretty decent
<3> backs everything up to dl dvd-ram
<1> yeah, this CXM total recall does same, though doesn't let them control it
<1> believe there's an option for that, but we didn't get it. but does T1 or station tap
<1> and screen capture to get account info of what they're working on, live monitoring, backup to dvd, etc
<3> yeah same on the audiolog
<3> i expect they would have to be similiar to compete :P
<1> indeed, not a huge amount of differnece between most of them. and really happy with this so far, only had it in place for a week or so. just wish owner had ponied up up front for trunk side. but that's not CXM's fault, that's owner's fault
<1> got quotes from several companies, and yeah, the feature sets were all aobut the same
<4> bofh``, going one more time otherwise the 286 is in the trash
<1> ha, throw it away
<4> fine
<4> but I don't want to hear about it later
<5> pee
<3> lol
<5> anyone here do putty authorized_keys stuff?
<5> dont wanna enter a p***phrase or login/p*** for ssh connection
<5> cant get putty to do it without pageant running as well
<6> its kind of easy
<5> well
<5> thats what i hear
<5> but i cant get the damn thing working
<6> ssh->auth->browse
<5> created a public key and tossed it into .ssh/authorized_keys
<5> then added the private key into putty
<5> now it asks for a p***phrase
<5> which kinda defeats the purpose
<5> hrm
<5> ahhh have to use pagaent if you use a p***phrase
<5> otherwise dont enter a p***phrase when using puttygen
<5> reading the documentation helps ;P
<7> flukex: ive got it working here
<7> i have p***word auth disabled on all my machines
<7> your better off to use a ssh agent instead of not using a p***word to protect your keys
<7> but all you have to do is not enter a p***word when you create your keys and it will log right in
<5> hrm
<5> ya
<5> whats the ownership supposed to be on authorized_keys>?
<5> Mar 6 13:11:40 flukex sshd[20756]: Authentication refused: bad ownership or modes for file /home/flukex/.ssh/authorized_keys
<5> i set it 600
<7> user with no group or other read permissions
<6> ownership!= chmod
<5> well, ownership rights are chmod
<5> and modes = chmod
<6> set it to same user where the file is located
<5> it is....
<7> username:whatever mode 600
<6> chown flukex. authorized_keys
<6> do it again
