<0> or different os?
<1> a virus or getting hacked is not the solution
<0> that's correct, it's a possible cause, not a solution.
<1> it's not the cause
<1> other cd-roms do the same thing
<0> that would tend to suggest more chance of a virus or trojan.
<0> Why are you so adamant a virus or trojan isn't possible?
<2> the button hang :P
<2> or someting :)
<0> ouch you're using xp 64 amd64bit?
<0> good luck with that one
<2> jepp
<2> i got problem 32k :)
<2> i got 4 problem got i 2 days
<0> seems a lot of manufacturers have just skipped drivers for xp 64 and have gone right to vista
<2> need to innstallit 2 times since i got the worng key

<2> cya
<2> need to read
<3> I have windows XP SP2 and dual monitor configuration. I replaced graphic card, reinstalled drivers, and now I have nVidia GeForce 7800GT. After an hour or two my cursor pointer gets hidden in any of dual monitors, in another it works fine. This happens even if the PC is idle. What can cause the problem please?
<0> does it show up again once you move the mouse?
<3> RogerRabb no
<3> RogerRabb, hello
<3> indeed, it is completely visible in say right monitor
<3> but completely hidden in left monitor
<4> how do i make seagate sata2 drive to work on sata1 controller\
<0> plug it in
<0> that's very odd BunkaiSK.. some driver conflicts possibly
<0> reinstalling drivers isn't always the go - uninstall then install fresh lot
<3> Roger, do you think I should reinstall WindowsXP?
<3> what I did was that I uninstalled drivers completely several times, and than installed new drivers either from MSI - the card is MSI or nVidia, but nothing helped. I tried the newest drivers, older drivers... nothing helped
<4> what sata2 drive is best?
<0> it sounds very strange - if it's not a big lot of trouble I would reinstall the os
<0> ezaadi I like seagate myself..
<5> a SATA II 7,200 RPM 16 MB cache drive would be faster than a SATA II 10,000 RPM 8 MB cache drive, correct?
<6> no
<5> no?
<6> i ***ume the 10k rpm drive is a raptor?
<5> probably
<6> it's definitely got faster seek time
<6> and faster spindle speed
<6> what drives you comparing
<5> maxtor is on top of their game now?
<6> there is only one 16mb cache drive i can think of that could perform like a raptor
<6> and that's not in all scenarios
<5> i'm just looking for a SATA II drive..
<6> the maxline III's
<6> i've got 2 300gb Maxtor MaXLine III's
<5> there's no SATA II 10,000 RPM 16 MB cache right?
<0> maxtor has been bought out by seagate
<6> sata, 16mb cache
<6> dc: not that i know of
<6> if you're looking for capacit/speed
<6> get a maxline III or hitachi
<6> if you want just speed, raptor
<5> capacity isn't very important to me
<5> speed is
<6> get a raptor then
<5> evidently the place i usually order parts from doesn't carry raptors
<6> so then order from elsewhere ;p
<5> raptors are only SATA I?
<6> yeah
<6> but that doesn't mean jack ****
<0> new raptors out now.. 160gb puppies
<6> probably stupidly expensive
<5> 300
<6> yup
<6> stupidly expensive
<0> if you raid 0 say two of the 74gb ones
<0> then do nightly backups
<0> should be pretty well set
<5> i've always been WD/Maxtor and for a short time Seagate... how does the Hitachi compare in general?
<5> lifetime and such
<0> well as I said, maxtor has been bought out by seagate..
<0> I haven't heard bad things about hitachi..
<0> they're pretty big in the laptop market I think?
<6> hitachi owns
<6> 7k500 > *

<0> seagate offers the best warranty
<5> ok, so dust..
<5> i hate it
<5> how's the reliabilty of water cooling now..
<5> do the pipes burst?
<6> imo it's never a smart idea to put water inside your computer case...
<6> that whole idea has never sat well with me
<6> heh
<5> if i seal a case.. i'll need to cool CPU, GPU and what?
<0> if you replace the tubes every year, and replace the liquid every month
<0> then you should be right
<5> didn't realize it was that high maintence
<0> cpu, gpu, northbridge, harddrives.. you can get blocks for pretty much anything
<5> any alternatives to control dust?
<0> of course the more blocks, the more powerful pump you'll want
<0> I think I'm exaggerating a bit on once a month..
<5> so, i should stick with a can of compressed air every 3 months?
<0> I would
<0> I don't even do the can of air
<0> maybe once every two years
<5> i haven't been doing my homework on processors lately... but, i heard that the AMD runs cooler than Pentium now..
<0> they have for ages
<5> i know a friend had an AMD 2000 and it ran incredibly hot
<5> i have a P4 2.66 in this machine...
<5> i'm wanting to get a SATA I/SATA II compatible board...
<5> with PCI-E 16x
<5> not looking for a gaming machine... just to stay with the flow
<5> how's the actual speed on the AMD and Pentiums for a lower costing range...
<5> like maybe, early FX
<5> are there any niches or is it all pretty much progressive with price
<7> AMD > INtel for speed imo
<5> it's the pipes and onboard cache that matter the most now, right?
<7> pipes->gfx
<7> cache yes
<5> i might be interested in dual core
<5> i'll go look AMD's site over
<5> humm that 7k500 is nice, isn't it
<0> I don't know.. I'm pretty up in arms about computer compoents
<0> components*
<0> amd releasing new socket this year
<0> well a new socket for both server and desktop
<5> really
<5> what's going to be special about it
<0> am2(940pin) replacing 939, and socket f(1207pin) replacing 940
<8> am2 wha
<0> umm I think they're aiming towards hardware aerogl*** support(for windows vista), new security(presidio), and hardware virtualization(pacifica)..plus the move to ddr2
<0> I think the socket f is supposed to have an intergrated pci-e controller on the cpu aswell
<5> AMD 64, how does that run in XP/2k?
<0> super duper
<5> standard, not 64 bit
<5> so, it runs ok on a non-64-bit os
<8> it runs in 32bit mode thats how
<5> i don't want to get screwed by Vista
<0> it should be alright heh
<5> i have so many concerns about Vista..
<0> it'll take a few years to move over to it
<0> I think it'll actually drive a lot of people onto the linux bandwagon
<5> i'm thinking DX 10 card, to make sure it's going to work well with Vista
<0> you've got quad-core amd cpu's coming out in '07 aswell as pci-e2
<5> humph
<0> I feel the same wya
<0> I will upgrade this year
<0> just enough so I can do everything I want - sound recording, some graphic design, and lots of programming
<0> I actually am more interested in the move to laptop market
<9> Hey, does anyone know if you can connect a Pocket PC to a computerscreen?
<0> if it has vga/dvi out
<9> and is that common?
<0> not sure if pocket pc has remote desktop.. since then you could remote into the pcp
<0> ppc*
<0> I haven't seen a pocket pc with vga/dvi
<5> this is a P4 2.66 .. 512 MB ddr (400, i think.. i'm half asleep).. it's got a GeForce 4 MX 440 128 MB AGP 4x.. SB Live 16 bit PCI.. WD Caviar 40 gig 7200 rpm 8 mb and WD caviar 13 gig 5200 rpm ? mb.. 533 FSB..
<5> i've had it for a while..
<5> i recently broke my gaming addiction..
<9> RogerRabb, so it's not possible?
