I'm trying to setup software raid under gentoo. For some reason I cannot get all my drives to detect. I have 10 ide drives (+2 satas), but only 8 of them detect. 4 pci ata cards at 2 ports each with one HD per channel + 2 in the MoBo's channels. It goes through the bios of all 4 cards when there isn't anything plugged into them. When I plug all my drives in, it "glitches" the 4rth card's bios screen and the last 2 won't even show up in <12> did they work in a different os? <12> try taking the card out where it seems to freeze? <10> no brand new build <10> bios doesnt show them <12> sounds like a dodgy card <10> well I tried switching it out tho. <13> I just ordered this inspiron 630m, did a clean xp install, and they don't list the sound card model online... is there a way I can figure out what it is? device mgr doesn't recognize it, and I tried the 700m audio drivers and they don't work <13> they don't offer 630m drivers online yet, guess support site hasn't been updated <12> beefmonky http://www.disgruntledgoat.com/content/useful/gentoo_on_inspiron630m.php <12> Sigmatel STAC9750 AC'97 audio controller / Intel ICH6 HD Audio <13> awesome, thanks! <12> no worries <13> weird, I tried installing ac97 drivers and the controller wasn't found <13> maybe I need to d/l some chipset drivers or something? this lack of drivers on the support site ****s :/ <12> you wouldn't want generic ac97 <12> Intel ICH6 HD Audio would be what I would try to find <14> any generous ppl willing to help me out w/somethin? <14> or speculate on what my problem is <14> or might be <4> you have but to ask <14> ok........ <4> and i have but to ignore you. <4> but go on. <10> Hi all. I'm trying to setup software raid under gentoo. For some reason I cannot get all my drives to detect.
