<0> Feudel: 800 is a bigger number, so which do YOU think is the more powerful card? :)
<2> if strapped for cash, wait....
<3> well
<0> But they're both middle of the road cards
<3> x700 then?
<0> I'd save your money and get the x800xl 512MB PCI-e card on newegg
<3> im doing a prebuild :(

<3> do i need it?
<0> Not unless your case has a window, feudel
<4> professional wiring. lolz.
<3> i dont understand
<3> its my 1st comp
<3> im buying
<3> or RECIVEING
<0> wtf?
<3> whats proffesional wiring anyway
<0> Round, not flat
<0> does your computer's case have a window in the side?
<3> yea
<3> it does
<2> round cables can be easier to manage, as well as promote better airflow, so i dont think windows are even an issue
<0> Then get round
<0> Looks better
<0> And if you tuck the cables up in the drive bays, airflow's not an issue, with round or flat
<3> do i have to put it all together if i dont get prof wiring?
<0> No
<0> You hvae to put it all together anyway
<2> will if you wanna crease and fold them every which way, then no... but that is a pain later when you wanna add remove something

<11> how does a jumper reset a cmos without power
<9> WELL
<9> GOOD QUESTION SON
<6> haha
<11> serouslly
<12> there is a battery on your motherboard
<11> and that's enough to reset it?
<12> the jumper reset cuts power to your cmos, and flushes any reserve in the capacitors
<12> of course
<12> hence you can reset your cmos by taking out the battery, and letting capacitors drain
<9> i want to eat a capacitator
<9> I drive a universal cerial bus
<10> Hi all. I'm trying to setup software raid under gentoo. For some reason I cannot get all my drives to detect. I have 10 ide drives (+2 satas), but only 8 of them detect. 4 pci ata cards at 2 ports each with one HD per channel + 2 in the MoBo's channels. It goes through the bios of all 4 cards when there isn't anything plugged into them. When I plug all my drives in, it "glitches" the 4rth card's bios screen and the last 2 won't even show up in
<12> did they work in a different os?
<12> try taking the card out where it seems to freeze?
<10> no brand new build
<10> bios doesnt show them
<12> sounds like a dodgy card
<10> well I tried switching it out tho.
<13> I just ordered this inspiron 630m, did a clean xp install, and they don't list the sound card model online... is there a way I can figure out what it is? device mgr doesn't recognize it, and I tried the 700m audio drivers and they don't work
<13> they don't offer 630m drivers online yet, guess support site hasn't been updated
<12> beefmonky http://www.disgruntledgoat.com/content/useful/gentoo_on_inspiron630m.php
<12> Sigmatel STAC9750 AC'97 audio controller / Intel ICH6 HD Audio
<13> awesome, thanks!
<12> no worries
<13> weird, I tried installing ac97 drivers and the controller wasn't found
<13> maybe I need to d/l some chipset drivers or something? this lack of drivers on the support site ****s :/
<12> you wouldn't want generic ac97
<12> Intel ICH6 HD Audio would be what I would try to find
<14> any generous ppl willing to help me out w/somethin?
<14> or speculate on what my problem is
<14> or might be
<4> you have but to ask
<14> ok........
<4> and i have but to ignore you.
<4> but go on.

<15> is there a problem with the new linksys routers?
<14> so i was having display problems whenever i played games, started out small then got real bad......talked to fujitsu tech support and they ask me if they are showing up in bios (and they were) so i tell them yes , send the comp to them , and they replace the motherboard and fan, get the comp back and run a game and same ****
<15> this bastard keeps dropping me and i have to go and turn it off and back on
<15> like it's locking up or something
<15> i get no internet and no response from the router, ie 192.168.1.1
<15> but the lights on the router show wan, internet etc
<14> oh ****.......this must be a virus
<15> huh?

<14> yup......same crap
<15> backup all the saved games and p***ive files and ****

<15> that ****s man
<15> i had some serious nightmares with a raid setup combined with a soundblaster card
