<3> which ironically, if the companies just MADE the 15krpm drives for sata2, it could be almost as fast as scsi320... but the biggest speed off sata2 right now is the 10krpms that came out. and a) they're sata1, b) they're "only" 10krpm. and a c) is that only one maker is even putting them out.

<3> Geofu: probably is. afaik the RPM data read/write is mostly drive-side, the host controller doesn't usually care about that stuff. I just know that it's almost impossible to actually *max out* even the sata1 standard with even 10krpm drives unless you've got'em in raid0.

<3> dioxide: with a ramdrive the bottleneck is the interface. the old pata version of the hyperdrive, it had the 66mhz interface only. the new one does 133, and may or may not be faster on its sata connector.

<3> my first idea for config was to raid6 them together. raid6 = having *most* of the capacity, and still having the ability to rebuild a drive if you accidentally do something like unplug one of'em.
