<0> im puttin together a monster desktop system in 2-3months
<0> but i might go server
<0> intel conroes
<0> or ****in judas
<0> wateva they call em
<0> with
<0> quad sli minium
<0> >=)
<0> i take it thats wat u gettin in the gpu department yea
<1> Hi
<1> https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=1977331&WishListTitle=Uncle+Computer+R10
<0> omg again
<1> would somone take a look at that
<1> I complety revised it
<0> we did
<0> 3 times

<1> whoisthat, no its completly different
<2> dude, lol.. you've been kicked like 8 times today
<0> ahaha
<0> i didnt even type anything that time
<3> which ironically, if the companies just MADE the 15krpm drives for sata2, it could be almost as fast as scsi320... but the biggest speed off sata2 right now is the 10krpms that came out. and a) they're sata1, b) they're "only" 10krpm. and a c) is that only one maker is even putting them out.
<0> 15k owns
<2> i'm looking for the 15krpm sata2
<0> i had 4 of em in raid 0
<3> Geofu: doesn't exist that I'm aware of.
<0> get the serverboard version
<2> wonder when sata3 will be out
<0> u dont get bootlenecked unlike desktop
<1> if you would just be so kind and check it out I'd appreciate it much
<0> im lookin
<2> Agape, i'm quite sure there's a standard on it
<0> so wat do u want me to comment on i looked
<0> its a computer
<0> >=|
<4> this emulator even emulates the speed
<4> slow and ****ty
<0> >=)
<0> they call it windows
<0> ~_^
<0> i cant wait to get my new stuff this week
<3> Geofu: probably is. afaik the RPM data read/write is mostly drive-side, the host controller doesn't usually care about that stuff. I just know that it's almost impossible to actually *max out* even the sata1 standard with even 10krpm drives unless you've got'em in raid0.
<3> or whatever raid that is that's just mirroring.
<5> 1
<5> 0 is stripe
<0> load is incredibly sick
<0> nice and fresh
<1> whoisthat, but is it good for my ucnle (basic stuff) will it last? Is it all compatiable?
<0> error free
<0> un depenadnt of >=) software
<0> depnds
<3> ah. 'kay. I can't keep the numbers straight 'cept 10 is 1+0, 50 is 5+0. 5 is striping with parity, 6 is two kinds of parity.
<0> on wat he uses it for
<3> mmm, that'd be a funky setup to make.. raid10 four of those ramdrives...
<5> i wouldnt use redundancy on ramdrives
<0> right now im not rich
<0> i peronsaly build high end gaming machines
<0> offcourse fast *** driving
<0> drives but that ram stuff >=| not enuff though
<0> how much u spendin
<0> on your dream rig
<0> MSRP price
<0> price varys
<5> if it was that important id probably just do downtime backups of it or something
<1> its not my dream machine
<0> i meant another guy
<0> msg
<0> your machine looks ok man
<3> dioxide: with a ramdrive the bottleneck is the interface. the old pata version of the hyperdrive, it had the 66mhz interface only. the new one does 133, and may or may not be faster on its sata connector.
<5> Agape, not gonna go pci-e for the drive?
<0> yo wats
<0> BULK
<0> or is it BLAk
<0> im not ****in sure
<3> dioxide: this dream machine would be a gaming box.
<5> feh games
<0> gaming box
<0> hmm

<0> quad sli? yea
<1> whoisthat, thanks
<2> "SATA-IO plans to further increase the maximum throughput of Serial ATA to 600 MB/s around the year 2007." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SATA
<0> peronsally
<3> what's the point in having eight sockets, sixteen cores, of opteron if you're not gonna game with it?
<0> having so much ram to instant boot up
<0> unles u got the cash
<0> wouldnt bother id get
<0> fastest drives period scsi 15k
<0> raid 0 those ****ers 2 terabytes of storage
<3> whoisthat: it's not just boot. it's having *all* programs running at those speeds, plus putting the swapfile on there.
<0> >=) there u go
<0> yea i understand
<0> boot instanstly
<0> thing is though
<0> it memorizes **** down
<0> wat happens when u run out of room
<0> >=|
<0> 16 gigs only
<3> actually that'd be the point of getting more than one.
<0> exactly
<0> but problem is i could put
<0> 20 gpus
<0> i wuld
<0> >=) thing is not made yet but like i siad u got the cash cool
<0> me personaly i cant spend on that ****
<0> im going octo GPU
<0> >=|
<0> thats 4k msrp alone
<3> my first idea for config was to raid6 them together. raid6 = having *most* of the capacity, and still having the ability to rebuild a drive if you accidentally do something like unplug one of'em.
<2> that'll be SATA 2.5
<0> they dont sell speakers in bulk right
<2> SATA 3.0 i believe will be 1200 MB/s
<2> i read all about the stuff back probably 6 months ago
<6> Geoana
<3> it's just too bad it's impossible to find a ramdrive that actually has the speed of the ram.
<6> err geofu
<6> no need for 1200mb/sec any time soon
<6> hd's are just breaking 100 meg/sec
<6> real media rate
<2> NCQ is where it's going
<3> the closest I saw was a plan for a ramdrive that sits on pci-e. and IMO, that's almost useless 'cause the pci-e slots won't be free on any of the systems that they're targetting.
<6> absolutely
<6> but sata II has that
<6> mandatory
<6> SATA I can or can not have it
<3> flyback--: regarding the speed thing, that's why I'd *like* to go ramdrive if I put this dream machine together.
<0> ramdrive
<6> good luck with that
<0> allows it to reboot just as fast>?
<3> whatever interface it's on, if the board the ram's attached to supports the full interface it maxes out the interface almost by default.
<6> don't think it will be practilce any time soon
<6> good to need a huge bank of batteries to back it up
<3> the hyperdrive comes with an external plug-in, heh.
<3> so you can slap it on, say, a UPS instead of worrying about the PSU's input.
<3> plus the manufacturer claims the batteries themselves, even once all other power resources are exhausted, would last for approximately 160minutes. two and a half hours, plus however long the UPS holds out.
<3> hence saying I'd raid6 them together in case the power accidentally gets interrupted to one of them.
<0> yo is ther a keyboard out ther that supports multiple keys being pressed at the wsame time
<2> wtf
<3> whoisthat: most support that, actually. it's just down to an electrical thing, where if they're on the same "circuit", it can't detect the difference between them. but if you're asking if there's one that you could press all simultaneously and it'll still register all of them? not to my knowledge.
<0> yea
<0> well thats wat i was asking
<0> >=|
<0> offcourse but some dont
<0> wateva
<0> microsoft
<0> >=\
<0> ok
<0> yeo
<0> 1 more thing need to find that case
<0> pc-76
<0> 75
<2> anybody actually have any keyboard recommendations?
<2> i'm looking for something a little more... sensitive
