<0> it ****s
<1> so apparently this new mobo will let me install winxp on an SATA harddrive without SATA drivers slipstreamed, as long as you use one of the 4 nvidia SATA connectors and not the SI raid sata connectors.
<1> so far so good anyway.
<2> good evening
<2> I'm sam romero
<2> we will continue our report now on the so called monster invasion
<2> :D
<2> you dont set bodies on fire like that..
<3> nerd
<2> ERROR (0xKHITBASH,0XPLIZBABE,0xBABEBABE,0xBABEPLIZ) CARPET_CURTAINS_MISMATCH_ERROR
<2> Your hairdresser has performed an illegal operation.
<2> :D
<1> so yeah just want to let everyone know that sp2 + new Asus motherboards with nvidia SATA connectors on board do not need a floppy disk NOR do they need a slipstream CD with SATA drivers to install windows.at least, mine didn't.
<4> mmm X2 5000 and FX-62
<5> Is it normal for TFT-LCD monitors not to have the same accuracy as a CRT? Mine sometimes display letters with a slight 'shadow', or, for example the letter "n", with a thicker vertical line on the left than on the right? Thanks for any help!

<6> :(
<7> Hi, i have a Dell 9150, it came with a sata drive thats connected to the motherboard by this blue thin cable; i wanted to add an IDE drive, looking at the motherboard i just dont see an IDE slot, there is just the 4 sata ports and 1 floppy with 17 pins, and nothing for IDE (ide cable has about 21 pins in a row), is it possible that my comp only supports SATA and not IDE?
<8> hi
<9> hi
<8> would games run alot better on 2gb ram systems instead of 1 gig?
<9> depends on the game :)
<8> well hungry games
<8> like FEAR
<8> and BF2
<9> probably won't notice much difference at all..
<8> but if it doesnt run smooth atm
<8> would more ram improve it?
<8> i mean i wanna run games at highest detail possible
<8> or atleast high / very high
<8> now i run fear at medium
<8> and bf2 too to get decent gameplay
<9> 2gig is more about slightly future proofing, and well, it helps when you multitask a lot, and also play at really high resolutions
<8> i do play at high resolutions .. well i want to
<9> I'm meaning 1600x1200+ resolutions :)
<8> half life 2 runs on highest details ..and highest resolutions very smooth
<8> but other games dont
<8> i also mean 1600 x 1200
<9> I think you'd get more benefit from cpu/gpu than ram..but hey
<8> i have 17 inch wide screen
<8> with 1600 x whatever resolution so i try to play on that
<0> well
<0> if you think about how much ram the xbox has
<0> and the xbox 360
<8> how much?
<0> i dunno
<0> xbox had 64
<0> xbox 360 I dunno
<0> so it obviously doesnt matter that much for those
<0> so prolly 1gb is fine
<0> Im guessing the xbox 360 has 512
<9> 360 has 512..uh huh
<9> that's gddr3 though
<6> I GOT 2 GIGz
<8> yea but console games get highly optimized to run good .. since they all run on the same system
<9> what's your cpu and gpu reso|?
<0> I dont think it makes a huge difference with 1gb and 2gb for most games
<0> but thats just my opinion
<8> 3200 ghz / 1024mb / ati x800
<0> I think it would make a difference for simulations though
<8> but thats in a notebook tho
<0> where you need constant full frame rate performance
<0> 100% maxxed out for hours
<8> i also ran many tweaks
<8> on my windows
<8> didnt help much
<9> that cpu and gpu could be upgraded..you'd notice more of a performance difference
<9> in the end you'll do whatever, anyway
<8> gpu cant be upgraded
<0> are notebooks upgradeable now
<8> my cpu and ram can
<8> but noy my gpu
<0> oh in that case it's got to be the cpu that gets the treatment imo
<9> gaming on notebooks.. gosh
<8> its a d900T notebook
<0> thats gonna be the next big change, but I dunno how much the cpu can be upgraded

<9> just be happy that you can play the games at all dude :)
<8> it can be upgraded to atleast 3800
<9> notebooks really aren't designed with games in mind
<8> this one was :)
<0> the cpu is gonna make a difference then definitely
<0> I overclocked my cpu to 2.4ghz and it made a difference
<0> from 1.9ghz
<8> hm
<10> Hey im trying to make a CHEAP computer http://madbox.nationvoice.com/doc.doc
<10> does that look right?
<0> also made a difference to the heat my pc makes
<0> but its ok cuz its a mobile cpu
<0> if u do upgrade the cpu, I spose you'll hafta accept less battery life
<0> and more heat/fan noise
<8> i dont use the battery anyways
<9> looks like a cheap computer madbox :)
<8> i use my notebook as a portable pc
<8> battery only runs 1 hour
<0> ic
<0> sounds good
<8> u guys dont know the alienware notebooks ?
<9> the notebooks more overpriced than apples? Yep
<0> yea
<8> yea i have that system
<8> except for the looks
<0> who gives a **** about apples
<8> i like bananas more
<0> I like the alienware laptops
<8> :)
<9> I do. Plus everyone else that either wants or has them..but that's obvious, isn't it?
<0> i dont know
<0> maybe theyre just going through a phase
<9> I use a little mac mini at work for development testing, and gosh..it's so ****ing nice to use after troubleshooting windows problems/writing code all day
<10> snoops it is a cheap computer
<0> that laptop would do great for flight sim 2004
<9> so I guess it fits the bill then madbox
<10> yeah, its for a friend
<10> who needs a 500 dollar PC
<8> but if hl2 runs smooth but other games dont ..must mean ram and cpu ?
<0> fear has alotta physics
<9> half life 2 runs well on some very old machines, with old graphics cards.
<8> hm
<0> my machine can run hl2 fine but struggles with fear
<0> (like alot of ppls pc's)
<0> fears a beast of a game
<0> if u can play at medium and its fun, thats really good going on a lappy especially
<0> I play fear at 1280x1024 with full detail
<0> its not fast tho
<0> I guess I should play it at medium detail. 1gb memory, 2.4ghz amd, 7800gs 512
<0> old socket A :)
<0> good old*
<0> ;)
<8> hm
<8> ****ty gamme makers
<0> yea
<0> they just lazy with the code I bet
<11> -djtech- 4) We only speak english
<11> <0> yea
<0> they make a deal with nvidia to split the profits
<11> oops
<0> forcing us to buy more powerful hardware
<0> hello DefiantN
<0> hehe
<11> hi
<11> I meant to post:
<11> I have a asus P4S800 board, with the latest bios that works with my p4 2.4ghz processor but when I install the new prescott 3.4Ghz/90nm/1mb cache which is on the boards compatibility list, the fans all come on and the moniter just clicks on and off over and over. I have a 400watt powersupply. Anyone know what could be going on?
<11> ah well
<0> broken cpu
<0> thats my only guess, but isnt that supposed to be so rare
<0> I dunno
<11> that was my only one too
<11> anyway, i have to sign off
<11> bye people
