<0> I am a Microsoft support engineer for Windows XP and had a customer call in with the write delay error and was able to fix her by downloading a XP driver for her disk controller card. When she installed XP, and this is true for everyone, the installation put a MS generic driver for her controller. We went to the mfg's web site and downloaded the XP driver for the card and her problem is now resolved. She was getting this error when trying to write a

<0> P. The IDE card that the disk was plugged into had configured the device as a UDMA Mode 6 device but either the device or the cable wasn't capable of this speed. Switching the device to UDMA Mode 5 solved the delayed write failure message and my machine is now far more stable.
<0> that possible ?
<0> configured the device as a UDMA Mode 6 device and its only supported as UDMA mode 5 ?

<7> guys
<7> i need help
<7> last minute science project
<7> what should i do for a science project that deals with computers?
<8> how close a magnant can get before doing dammage
<8> to each part
<7> an Easy one
<7> which i can do in 1 hour
<8> that is easy
<7> or pretend that i do
<7> alright listne

<7> well
<7> the topic i chose is basically on the processor itself
<7> so, if your topic was say
<7> overclocking
<7> what would u do?
<7> overclock 2 of the same processors?
<7> overclock diff processors?
<7> or..
<7> meh
<7> hey
<7> what projects on science would u do that involve overclocking
<7> anyone???
<9> i don't think anyone here is interested in helping you with your homework.
<7> well
<7> it's not really answering questions
<7> like what is 9+3
<7> it's more like contributing ideas
<7> and i'm actually DOING the project
<5> going to take longer than an hour to write up a proper report and analysis
<7> I have 2 days
<7> Is that enough
<7> I have Intel P3 533 MHz chips
<7> and 2 mobos
<7> and the rest of the setup
<5> I'm guessing you're doing this at highschool level
<7> kbd, ms, monitor
<7> yes..
<5> so you can probably turn in any old report
<7> its actually for a science project
<7> Yah
<7> also, it doesnt have to be very long and complex
<7> its very simple, the ones ive seen so far
<7> like people measuring fvcking air pressure , etc
<5> Make a jump to project mat. Then jump to one of the project ideas and go with it.
<5> Simple
<7> Huh?
<7> "project mat" = ?
<10> project mat..?
<5> Like a jump to conclusions mat
<10> hmm
<10> as in, predict what would happen?
<5> ...you're saying you've never seen Office Space?
<11> write about the effects of a penis pump in regards to girth length and structural consistency
<11> something more original than overclocking
<11> overclocking computers at least
<10> Ive seen Office Space
<10> i dont remember "project mat"
<10> but the best part was when they beat the **** outta that fax machine /printer
<5> I'd go with bob's idea personally..as he says, it is far more original than overclocking.
<10> well
<10> that would be nice, however
<10> i already turned in my sheet saying it'll be an OCing project
<11> its overclocking your penis basically
<8> what ever happend to karate bob
<12> hey, I have a wireless router on a university network, and I have dhcp turned off, and I just hook it to the wan but in the lan port so I can use it as an AP, is there way I can get to the remote admin util (which only takes connections through the wan port) without screwing up the ap functionality?
<12> or do I just have to plug into the wan port when I want to change something?
<13> I figured out how to open my case!
<13> Who the hell puts 20 dowells inside to thwart any attempt to open one?
<13> In a sudden fit of rage i was able to yank it off and into my bedroom wall.
<6> at last.. how much you paid for it
<13> fifty bucks
<13> it is pretty sturdy
<13> a little too much so
<12> my god...the socket 939 opterons are the most amazing processors I have ever seen
<5> this is for a new pc stainer72?
<14> hey
<14> has does anyone here use asus pc probe?
<15> yes
<12> does anyone else see a HUGE error in the L1 cache size listed http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103587
<14> I keep getting error
<14> from the asmictrl.dll
<14> "can't find LmControl procedure"
