<0> the 6600 gt im pretty sure has faster clocks, but the 6800 has the 256 bit wide mem pipe
<0> so the 6800 would fair better with things like fsaa on and stuff
<1> wich card are best to counter-strike 1,6?
<2> yea **** 6600
<2> its pointless
<2> 7900gtx equiter
<3> What do you think of Asus Laptops?
<4> beep
<5> http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2417
<5> wooo
<6> Cpt|Kirk: they make laptops?
<7> hi. I have problems with a K7S748 mainboard.. it gives a bluescreen about not meeting the ACPI specs but there's no newer bios for download. That means I cannot use it with this Windows XP version, right?
<7> or perhaps it gives that message just once
<8> DarkFader - I have an old P3 motherboard with no ACPI and it runs XP fine.
<8> ok, "fine", but it doesn't bluescreen
<7> well... it's not actually me having the problems but my dad

<7> hehe
<7> he's installing XP
<7> he builds crappy systems
<8> is that a bunk ECS motherboard?
<7> "Axper - The Motherboard Expert"
<7> never heard of it before
<8> okayyy
<8> get him a 40 dollar biostar and save yourself hours of tech support
<7> funny how the bluescreen refers to http://www.hardware-update.com/
<7> oh well... no ACPI then
<7> F7 yay
<9> Are there any motherboards for Socket 478 with pci express?
<9> I have a 3.4Ghz Northwood P4, but I want to upgrade my graphics card.
<8> Ese: not looking hopeful
<10> Ese: there arent.
<8> MSI has one but not for Northwood core
<10> also, thats a horrible idea.
<11> heh
<11> what are we frying today?
<12> anybody used a Thermaltake Big Typhoon on an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard? I'm wondering if the A8N has a plastic back plate or a metal one.
<11> why exactly does that matter?
<12> it matters for mounting the big typhoon.
<11> err no
<12> but actually I had another reason too but I think that second question is moot now
<8> I would want a plywood back plate
<11> the thing comes with the components you need to mount it with
<8> retro
<10> plywood isnt strong enough
<10> atleast the tiny **** you can fit behind there isnt.
<10> Shadowc4t: did you check out the website? go sign up.
<12> well, thermaltakes instructions have never been the greatest. for a K7 installation they tell you to use the sponge and mylar pieces on the back of the motherboard under the H clip. but then during a K8 install on an Asus they presumably want you to remove the plastic back plate and use the H clip, but they don't say if you need to use the sponge and mylar as well
<11> what website?
<10> Shadowc4t: http://hardware.stfu.ca
<12> either you do, or it's safe to just sandwidh the metal H plate up against the back of the Asus mobo
<10> the one in the topic >_x
<11> ScaryFast: actually the instructions are pretty clear
<8> meet the ops
<8> omfg
<10> what..
<12> I have to disagree. they're pretty clear if you're not a careful person who likes to follow instructions to the letter :P
<13> Can anyone help me.. I just bought some SATA(2) HDD's. Going to put windows on those. And use the old PATA(133) for backup, large files, etc. Anyways, I am prompted to choose either "SATA" or "PATA, PATA+SATA RAID".. And "RAID CL*** DRIVER" or "nForce Storage controller".. Which one do I choose? =p
<11> fracker's got his eyes glues on Jen
<10> Shadowc4t: yep
<12> the words lead you to believe that you use the plastic back plate with the asus
<8> yep
<11> glued*
<12> but the pictures would indicate that you use the H clip
<14> I don't know what TV-CARD i have... How do i find it out? Thanks :)
<11> ScaryFast: go ask thermaltake support
<11> that's what they're for
<8> i mean, nope
<12> maybe I will :P
<10> Shadowc4t: if you make a profile I'll put you on the meet the ops page as a honorary +v :P
<13> Guys, I know you are all busy dicussing etc, but can anyone take a moment to answer my prayers? :/
<10> whatcha need Pain
<13> Can anyone help me.. I just bought some SATA(2) HDD's. Going to put windows on those. And use the old PATA(133) for backup, large files, etc. Anyways, I am prompted to choose either "SATA" or "PATA, PATA+SATA RAID".. And "RAID CL*** DRIVER" or "nForce Storage controller".. Which one do I choose? =p
<11> sigh
<11> I'm trying to fix a laptop here rukk :P
<10> Shadowc4t: doesnt have to be right now
<13> I mean, RAID CL*** (PATA, PATA+SATA RAID required) makes best sense.. But I dont really know myself, so don't wanna waste time..
<11> here's an idea

<10> but if you give me a PM with a profile following the guildelines specified in 'meet the ops'
<11> TRY
<11> Pain|busy: the worst that could happen is that you reboot to that same menu when it doesn't find your drives
<11> and that'd take all of what, 2 min?
<13> ehm
<13> it does find my drives
<15> lol [M***IVE spelling and grammar check by Jen]: SHAME ON YOU
<13> but if I do wrong
<13> it wont when winxp gonna boot
<10> BillGates: yeah.. *sigh* ;x
<10> the woman is insatiable
<13> and that way I have wasted about 1 hour, installing winxp, Shadowc4t.
<11> Pain|busy: err no
<13> Yes it does, tried it before.
<6> rukk: being female is to be unstable
<13> Actually done it 2 times now.
<10> wtf
<10> stick in the drive(s) you want to install your OS on
<10> install your os
<16> Pain|busy, did the motherboard come with a manual?
<10> add the other drives.
<13> Sure
<10> be happy.
<13> It doesnt work!
<11> this is starting to sound like pebkac
<10> what do you mean it doesnt work
<13> Well
<13> It says "Caution: blabla corrupted by virus! unable to boot"
<10> ..
<13> when I dont chose the correct drivers for my SATA (windows disks)
<13> Or..
<6> What.s the deal with spamalope? I think he hates me.
<6> Spamalope hates everyone.
<6> LOL
<13> It says "blabla reboot"
<6> good one
<10> :D
<11> Pain|busy: unless you can give us a specific error message
<10> thtas totally Jen's doing
<11> don't bother typing them
<13> Shadowc4t, I think you know what i mean
<17> will a SATA 3.0 Gb/s hard drive work with a SATA 1.5 Gb/s capable motherboard?
<11> because you're just wasting bandwidth
<8> Best error message ever
<13> And its not a error message
<11> Pain|busy: no that's the point, we don't know what you mean
<13> Its cause I havent installed RAID drivers....!
<13> Just tell me which one to chose
<11> Nik-: yes
<13> Can it be so hard?
<17> the 3.0 hard drive will just run at 1.5, right?
<11> Pain|busy: wtf are you running raid?
<13> no!
<11> Nik-: ya
<17> k thanks
<13> But winxp doesnt detect the SATA otherwise
<13> So I need to put up a driver for the SATA
<11> yes it does
<13> It wont here :S
<11> unless you're using an hopelessly out of date cd
<11> and stop using :S this isn't msn
<13> Well
<8> just tell me what to do, damnit
<13> I am getting ****ed up here..
<11> for crying out loud one day I'm gonna kill the guy to invented that smily
<10> spamalope: surprised you didnt directly link to Jen's pic :P
<6> on what?
<13> Atleast
<13> when I am done installing windows
<13> the hdd wont boot anymore!
<10> spamalope: are you steve6? >_x
