<0> i see no point to buying a plextor
<1> ive had a plextor too
<0> plextor owned in CDR days.
<0> now they just seem overpriced.
<1> yeah
<1> tahts when i had one
<1> thats*
<0> yeah
<0> they were godly back then
<0> clone-cd. :D
<0> when all people had to worry about was safedisc 2
<2> Daemon-Tools rawks
<0> yesh
<0> i used to chill with the author.
<0> he's a nice dude.
<2> free , but still way better than the other crapola commercial stuff

<0> yes
<0> i don't warez anymore so it really don't matter much anymore. :D
<1> its nice when free software rivals or supr***es software you pay for
<0> but he's pretty frekin smart
<0> yes
<0> agreed
<1> its like
<1> ha!
<0> e.g. gaim vs. aol instant messenger. :D
<0> vdub
<0> CdburnerXP
<1> you guys have 30 people on a team working to build this stuff and this 18 year old kid in his basement programmed a way better version in a week
<0> nero has gone to crap
<1> yeah
<1> i downloaded nero the other day
<0> they spend all their time making crap like 'nero agent' and other junk
<1> and oh my god
<1> it tookover my system like REAL player
<2> Nero is getting worse than Adaptec
<0> you have to put duct tape in the registry just to keep it under control
<1> i wouldnt haven been suprsed if i restarted
<1> and it booted neroOS
<0> i'm so sick of these software companies doing that kind of garbage
<0> they're all trying to make all-encomp***ing 'media experience' software
<0> which nobody wants
<1> it was like
<0> and already has
<1> let me open every filetype you have
<1> wash your feet
<2> LMAO yeh the player ****s
<0> "I installed nero and now my games are slow"
<1> you have adobe photoshop? oh let me open it for you!
<1> do they honestly expect people to prefer nero opening photoshop files over photoshop?
<1> or are they just ***holes
<3> psh
<0> i'm really not sure.
<0> i wonder wtf they're thinking.
<3> showtime is one of the best video players available
<1> yeah idk
<0> just look at what happened to real
<1> exactly
<0> the more intrustive their software became the less people used it
<1> they basically turned into a spyware company
<0> you'd think they'd learn that people want lean software that does its job and goes away when you're not using it
<4> people actually used real?
<4> :\
<1> CosmicCat
<2> nidO: ever heard of Media Player cl***ic , and VLC ?
<0> i havent' installed real since like, 1999
<1> once upon a time it was a nice little plug in that played steaming video
<0> real alternative works just fine enough
<0> and i uhhh, never view real format video anyway
<0> quality is garbage
<0> audio sounds horrible
<0> xvid all the way
<3> showtime is far better than media player cl***ic, and on a par with vlc minus a few bugs it doesnt include that vlc does
<1> yeah
<0> i have no issues with wmp.
<0> it does the job.
<3> and please dont even think of lecturing me on vlc vs showtime, i use both all day every day
<0> i'm not worried about DRM.

<0> i only view homebrewed xvids.
<2> sorry nidO , but IMO showtime ****s
<1> i like my media player to have a play,stop,pause,skip,and ff/rewind button
<1> thats it
<0> bsplayer is ok
<3> well, thats more showtime than vlc
<2> i don't like the interface for starters , and the way it tries to ***ociate itself with every fuqn file
<0> yargh
<1> thats the thing
<1> it might have some nice feautres
<1> but it is uglier then hell and it tries to take over your computer
<3> to be honest the interface changes to showtime are a lot better than vlc. showtime attaches to the top the same as vlc, or you can have it detatched in its more common powerdvd style, which for someone like me with multiple screens is a major advantage as i dont have to de-screen the ****ing player just to bring the buttons back so that i can pause it for 2 minutes
<1> thats why i like windows media player
<5> rofl
<1> move the mouse and the controls pop up
<3> except windows media player along with every player i know of on a windows desktop (with the exception of showtime, incedentally) has a big ****ing annoyance for multiscreen users.
<4> An elderly Hungarian is set to become a millionaire after finding a priceless Stradivarius violin hidden above his chicken coop.
<1> the "fullscreen in one screeN" thing?
<3> you drag the video from one screen to another, the image goes black and stays that way till you stop and restart the file
<1> ah
<1> wow
<1> google adsense is pretty awesome
<1> $$_$$
<1> its too bad i didnt do this like 2 days ago id have like 1000$
<1> cest la vie live and learn
<6> Are viewsonic monitors all they're cracked up to be?
<3> theyre decent yeh
<6> I'd really like to go to the store and just get something
<6> cause I'd like to do this today
<6> but it's almost impossible to find retail stores that list everything they carry... and then matching those against reviews so I know what I'm getting when I go buy something is damn near impossible
<4> playing games or just general usage?
<6> Gaming and general
<6> computer upgrade coming to follow
<6> maybe next week
<4> i love my new lcd, but id never leave crts if my primary worry was gaming
<6> dual core 3800+, 2GB DDR400, 7800GTX, Raptor HDD... I'm excited.
<4> i have basically that, with a gt and no raptor
<4> x2 3800, 2gig, gt
<6> I have some type of disorder that prohibits me from buying a LCD... because even a single dead pixel would make me lose my mind
<4> samsung
<6> I only have a 2500+, 512M right now... it's going to be a big change
<6> 5900 Ultra
<6> even with a 1-dead pixel return policy... the idea of returning a monitor once, or maybe more than once... is a big turnoff
<4> i checked mine at the store
<6> I suppose if I come across something really nice for LCD I'd get it
<4> got it at circuit city and opened it and checked it before i left
<4> heh
<4> zero dp's
<6> but so many stores have $50+ on the pricetag... brick and mortar special.
<4> i wanted widescreen, but honestly the cheapest ws is the dell 2005, and you're almost guaranteed dp and backlight bleeding with those
<4> ill get widescreen when sed monitors come to market in quantity
<6> I think I'm gonna be a CRT guy until they get the dp thing straightened out
<6> they just don't have it tweaked enough for me yet
<4> im sure even sed's will have dp here and there
<6> I don't mind the big "***" of the monitor... so LCD doesn't bring much to the table for me
<4> hrm. i used to think that too, but now i have a bunch of stuff in the same place that i previously had just my crt :P
<4> but like i said, depends on you. as a heavy gamer yer still best off with a crt probably
<4> some people can see lcds ghosting, others cant. I personally can see it and cant stand it :\
<6> I'm pretty picky
<6> this monitor is making me feel crosseyed
<4> yeah. when my viewsonic was dying on me it was horrible
<4> blurry as ****
<6> I'm not sure if I'm going out of my mind or not
<6> my girlfriend "guesses" it is
<6> hers looks fine to me though
<4> my lcd: http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wow5dj.jpg
<6> nice colors
<6> Samsung, eh?
<4> yeah. that is a def benefit of lcd
<4> the colors are very nice
<6> I need something bigger anyhow
<6> 17" isn't cutting it... I just hope I can find something of good quality and a reasonable price and bring it home today
<7> and here i was going to purchase a 24" LCD
<4> hey nothing wrong with that :P
