<0> want a mail server? <0> sure <1> foxdonut: I'd rather not, it confuses me <0> wait <0> what <0> ip-over-dns? <1> bitrot: Ah, network/hardware consulting? :P <0> Two9A: yeah <0> not like software <1> bitrot: IP packets sent in DNS requests <2> i get 50k/s over ip-over-dns tunnel <2> pretty impressive <1> I see absolutely no point to IPoDNS <2> i do <1> Since it's IPoDNSoIPoPPPoATM for me <3> it's nice to circumvent firewalls Two9A
<4> would you care to share with us? <1> pinguin: One possible fair point <0> oh <0> there is no point <0> it's just a hack <0> I just read the article on slashdot <0> http://slashdot.org/articles/00/09/10/2230242.shtml <1> And slashdot's always been accurate and impartial! <0> well matja set it up.... <2> ive seen wireless lans where people disable forwarding except for certain ips <2> but leave the dns server on <0> but that's leet <2> owned. <0> you could get into someones network via DNS O.o <2> well, out <5> my ssh connection keeps getting reset by peer. is there an ssh option i have to set to keep it alive? <2> not in <0> tro: on your client yes <2> unless you already planted an enpoint inside it <0> are you using putty or something tro ? <2> *endpoint <5> bitrot: no, just plain old ssh <5> or openssh or whatever's default on gentoo <0> hmm <0> yeah openssh <5> don't really see any keepalive options in man ssh <5> i have "KeepAlive yes" in sshd_config on the server <2> man ssh_config <2> should be in there <0> I've never had an issue w/ gentoo w/ keepalives <2> i think theres two types, TCP and SSH keepalives <0> always w/ the client <5> bitrot: me neither. most of the boxes i ssh to don't have this problem <5> i'm thinking it might be a bad connection or something <2> only issue ive had is when theres a dumb nat router in the middle doing tcp timeouts on natted connections <2> like 60s tcp timeout wtf is that **** <0> tro: do a basic ping test see if there is any pkt loss <5> bitrot: i did it already. none <6> http://gingerkids.org/ <6> tro, you also need to set it in the client <1> Quick question. Anyone here used odesk.com before? <1> Looks like a promising freelance site <5> KlrSpz: tcpkeepalive is set to yes by default in .ssh/config <6> i think you also need to specify a TTY or something like that <7> what's a good BNC app? <6> psybnc <8> i like irssi instead of a bnc <8> inside screen <6> yeah, not a bad idea <5> Genia4: znc <5> so much better than psy <6> tro, other than that, i don't have any more info for ya <9> snws <9> http://www.maximonline.com/girls_of_maxim/girl_template.aspx?id=1235 <5> it's ok. i think it might be the connection, but it happens on and off. sometimes it stays connected for an hour <5> sometimes i leave it for a minute and it gets reset <0> ahh <0> gotta love the intermittent issues :( <5> yep. love 'em with a rusty chainsaw <0> hehe
<0> irssi actually has a 'bnc' feature <0> well it's more of a proxy <0> oh cool this article has IP-over-ICMP too <2> i never used irssi proxy... cant think of a use, actually <0> I can <2> anyone here use it for something useful? <0> i used to use irssix on OS X so I set up my regular box that i IRC from w/ irssi to use irssi proxy, so I could connect to the irssi proxy from the oS X box and use the same connection to get on IRC <0> worked well actually <0> but then I rebuild irssi and forgot to build to module for the proxy again ;p <0> it was nice because I could use either one <2> dont you loose your msg history and such when you switch clients, tho? <0> hmm trying to remember if you do or don't <0> I believe you don't. <5> foxdonut: you shouldn't in theory because you're basically running one irssi and the others are just connecting to it <2> so, like, when you connect to the proxy, it sends you everything that happened all day? <5> so the original irssi would be saving all the logs <0> yeah <2> yeah but the underlying protocol is still irc <5> bitrot: no way. it sends you EVERYTHING? <2> not some special protocol for sending logs between clients <0> I can't recall to be honest <5> i know psybnc doesn't do that. znc can send you x lines <2> well psy can if you setup logging on the psy instance itself <0> psybnc doesn't send you your messages when you connect? <0> yeah <2> by default, only for pm's <0> i don't think irssi sends you your messages <2> but you can do it for channels <0> but yeah you're right it doesn't <2> hmm, yea, i wouldnt get on with that :/ <0> pretyt sure when i connected it would 'join' the channel again <0> but i wouldn't really 'join' <2> i like ssh'ing to my irc client at the Center Of THe Universe, Logging All <0> it was good for what I needed it for <2> with its Infinite Logs Of Wisdom <0> I use +g anyways <2> i hate people that use +g <0> looks like you hate me then don't ya <2> yep <2> die <0> O well <0> meh give me time I will. <5> what's +g? <0> server side ignore <0> ignores all messages sent to you <2> i cleaned my pc for the first time in ages, amazing how much fluff those new amd heatsinks pick up <5> ah. heard of it <5> isn't that a freenode feature? <2> with their tiny tiny fins <0> obviously not if i'm using it right now <0> try to /notice me lol <0> or msg <2> can i /hack you <2> does +g work for that <0> oooo Solaris Linux admin <0> bah <10> bitrot: ? <0> new job :( <0> Hawson: i want to stay with the company i'm with <0> free services are very nice <11> Hmmm. I'm quiting cause they kept reducing staff here and piling more crap on me, then refused to consider giving me a raise. So now I find out they want my friend to take over (even though he doesn't really know anything), and they're gonna pay him a grand a week extra to do so. If they had offered me a fraction of that I wouldn't have quit in the first place. So I've got to teach him all about linux, PHP, mysql, apache, drupal, networking, courie <11> r, etc, etc in the next three weeks. What's gonna end up happening is they'll pay him, and if anything breaks he'll pay me a couple of bucks to fix it. I'm slightly ticked off.... <10> Niosop: no you don't <0> Niosop: hmmm <0> Niosop: yeah you really don't : <0> :) <0> AND <0> you can tell your boss that you got a new guy <0> _me_ :p <0> i know php, mysql, apache, networking <11> if you want to live in this ****hole town and get paid jack, I'll recommend you :) <0> not drupal and courie <11> drupal is cake, courier is like any other mail server. <11> You could probably wrangle 40K a year out of them...
