<9> hmmm, would it be hard to bring along my suse generated kernel into a gentoo install? i'm really not comfortable configuring manually because there is so much weird hardware on this laptop, and the one opensuse set up for me works perfect. When i tried genkernel on gentoo-sources according to the handbook a lot of stuff didnt get recognized :(
