<12> livecd isn't auto detecting your LCD correctly, it could be failing to read DDC, you can hit CTRL + F1 to get to a console or skip loading the GUI
<12> i fail to remember if the livecd lets you manually specify frequency ranges and resolutions
<12> you could also boot to another type of environment, like knoppix, and use that to do the install, if you require a GUI
