<XaXXon> haha, there's nothing I want on dalnet
<XaXXon> dalnet makes efnet look like a haven of sanity and comunal respect
<_nv> I mean, how stupid do you have to be to go to a channel like #bearcave or #gamedev looking for warez?
<_nv> Now if you'll excuse me, I'm trying to figure out what the purpose of female *********ion is.
<XaXXon> _nv: I hear they know over in #bearcave
<_nv> uh, I'm pretty sure they don't.
<_nv> lack of women and all that
<XaXXon> yeah, they were pretty anal, too
<XaXXon> like they had something stuck up their butts
<KillerJim> Anyone recommend where to start in Java mobile game development? (as in IDE, dev environment, etc..)
<XaXXon> it's not just j2me?
<XaXXon> I guess that shows how much I know about it
<KillerJim> Well, i`ve coded C/C++, Delphi, asm, etc.. but I`m looking into mobile game dev
<KillerJim> and it seems Java is the current favourite (or most compatible on handsets)
<KillerJim> and I`ve not idea what IDE to use, as Java is something new to me
<KillerJim> and Sun's web site is just info overload imho
<Rangar> KillerJim: www.eclipse.org
<Rangar> Thats THE Java IDE
<_nv> I wonder why Java is so popular for phones. Probably because of sandboxing.
<Rangar> no idea.. imho, it should all be Atari BASIC ;)
<Rangar> peek and poke, they were the fun days
<KillerJim> Thanks Rangar
<Rangar> no prob
<KillerJim> Java is something I always stayed away from, looks like I may have to take an interest in it
<Rangar> killer: I'm in exactly the same boat right now... although not for mobile phones, I'm having to look @ Java for my own new needs
<KillerJim> atleast for mobile games
<KillerJim> Still atleast with mobiles your designing games like the old AMOS/STOS days ;)
<Rangar> and my background is pretty much the same, C/C++/Delph/FreePascal
<Rangar> woot, STOS!!!!!
<KillerJim> Yea, I wrote my own compiler in Delphi ;) (www.gamesbasic.com)
<Rangar> I did a dragons Lair clone in STOS!
<KillerJim> I was an Amiga whore.. AMOS :P
<KillerJim> same difference :)
<Rangar> awwww, ****ed in ;)
<KillerJim> Yea, but I like coding asm on the amiga - blitter and copper chips ;P
<Rangar> KillerJim: tried AROS?
<KillerJim> AROS - hmm.. nope but for some reason it rings a bell
<Rangar> Amiga OS for x86
<Rangar> it's actually not too bad, but 10 years too late imho
<KillerJim> Oh yea.. think I read over it a year or so ago
<KillerJim> lol, yea.. cl***ic story of amiga, always late with the goods
<KillerJim> ok, hmm.. Eclipse is confusing me.. is it an IDE or a ton of projects?
<Rangar> both
<KillerJim> so the SDK contains the IDE?
<KillerJim> as well as the rest
<Rangar> it all seems to work off 'plugins'
<Rangar> atm i'm installing a c++ plugin
<Rangar> but it's primary focus in Java dev
<KillerJim> OK, thanks
<Rangar> n/p
<KillerJim> nice screeny.. wonder how it will look under windoze
<Rangar> I've learnt a lesson..
<Rangar> if you want to use dev tools etc. now, use Linux versions, they are primarily more up to date and less buggy
<Rangar> I'm not a linux fanboy etc... but all the major movements are now linux orientated
<Don_G> re
<KillerJim> Hmm.. Rangar, eclipse is nice - like their tutorial stuff too
<KillerJim> I suppose I better get back to real work, RTP audio streaming :/
<Rangar> it's a little slow in it's interface reactions - still, very useable
<KillerJim> Rangar - aka Java ;)
<Rangar> nono, Java is FAAAST ;)
<KillerJim> lol..
<KillerJim> Any of u see the article on /. about making ur own projector?
<KillerJim> I just finished mine, pretty sweet - 120" image for about £300 (450 euro)
<KillerJim> less if u have a spare LCD around :)
<Rangar> sweet
<Rangar> does it work very well?
<Rangar> I glimpsed @ the article but didin't both with it
<KillerJim> lol.. yea it works very well
<KillerJim> requires some DIY skills and patience..
<KillerJim> and the fact the projector is 1:1 (ie. 5 foot from image = 5 foot image)
<KillerJim> Burnout revenge is a totally different game on 120" diag :P
<Rangar> hahahaha
<Rangar> put up a few digicam shots of it in action for us bud
<Madsy^> http://hatofbugs.com/sa/corgi.swf
<cattack> that damn sequence has looped about eight times now, madsy. clearly its eliciting some type of nefarious hold, forcing me to continue watching it

<Scottc> Looks useful Project

<Project-a> It seems also be importable for c#
<Project-a> Can make really nice presentation cd's / applications
