<2> Well... if you can do ***embly then you should be able to do most anything. All variants of Basic are fine to start with, but as you grow they just hold you back. You'll want to learn a more powerful language to progress. ASM is fine, but it gets very difficult to use ASM when your projects get larger.

<2> .NET is Microsoft's language. In the past, they have changed languages and pissed people off. They try not to do that, though.
<2> For whatever reason, quite a few OSS people liked .NET, and apparently MONO will run .NET programs on linux and various other OSes.
