<0> well, people think '1' symbol duplication will duplicate all children symbols.... which it does
<0> but they're symbols too
<0> heh
<0> so ya, you change one of 'those' symbols - all such change as well of course
<0> just need to do more dupe'n
<0> pita
<1> "Deep duplicates" on design-time can be a real pain.
<0> its just a rightclick anyways...
<0> i dont like it nope
<0> lol
<1> If you have some 50 child objects, it will take a day.
<0> 'visual is faster' ... untill you need to edit stuff
<0> heh
<0> eh - all ways are valid
<1> But, behold children!, I have a solution.
<1> Create a new file - drag that parent object into that file's library, put all the objects there into a new folder and move that folder into the original file. Presto!

<2> ahhhh
<2> I did try that but maybe I did it wrong
<2> let me see brb
<0> you can just put in new folder in your own - but thats only gunna save ya on naming conflicts
<2> obtw thanks for all the good ideas
<1> If you have only a couple of child objects, duplicate them all.
<1> Then choose the objects inside their parents (open them for edit) and use that "swap" button in Properties panel to change it to the duplicated one.
<0> or just goto it - rightclick on it - duplicate
<0> it automatically replaced original
<0> and creates new as well
<0> in same spot
<1> But it doesn't change the object in its parent.
<1> Mmmm... you mean outside Library, huh?
<0> on stage...
<0> ya
<0> mmm pizza for breakfast, i think i'm gunna puke
<0> ;(~
<1> Nice, never seen that... is that new since F6 or what?
<0> dun think so
<0> maybe, thats many years ago
<0> :/
<0> v6 is like what... 5 years old now?
<1> Don't know, really. It's the only thing I have.
<1> Flash MX is 2002
<0> i liked it more than v7/v8 versions for 'usage' ... cleaner, quicker, better...
<0> but aside from that.... adios v6 :/
<0> just gotta remember - upgrade flash == upgrade computer
<0> lol
<3> lol
<1> And cheesus! There actually is duplicate there... all these years I've been doing it the hard way. &:D
<0> heheh
<3> haha
<0> ya, i learnt all about use'n dupe a year or two back when workin with a buncha stupid templates
<0> so frusterating
<0> at first i could see - ya ... dupe'm .. no biggy
<0> but after a few months
<1> I'd probably update it to v8, mostly because of text improvements, but I lack the money.
<0> its like ... WTF?! nobody has standardized this stuff yet?!?!
<0> nor did they want to
<0> throwin money out the window
<0> lol
<0> who's come'n?
<1> I hope Flash gets some competitor soon... these prices are just outrageous.
<4> dunno, thought u were throwin money out
<0> flash has competition - everything else
<0> lol
<0> haha
<0> no
<0> not me :>
<5> XAML will compete with flash
<3> OHNOES
<6> is there anyway to make pngs look better when they are rotated/scaled?
<7> why are my flash images streaking horizantally in firefox?
<7> only a few of them though...
<7> others display perfectly on a horizontal scroll.
<7> IE is perfect display as well.
<0> streaking?
<0> 'shadowing' and such?

<0> leaving traces of themselves?
<0> XAML will sit with sparkle
<8> how do I refer to a xml-tag by calling the tag's name instead of what order it has in the stack?
<8> from flash..
<9> I am Sanz
<0> might want to review yer xml theory... that shouldnt be an issue really ...
<0> but - you could parse tree to an Obj - and access in such ways ...
<10> ya know
<10> i don't even like drawing anymore
<0> sounds like someone's burnt out
<10> too much of a ****ing h***el
<0> :>
<0> if yer gunna be burnt out - be burnt out from pot, not work
<10> the only reason i mention this is because i'm supposed to be doing designs for some ****in t-shirts
<0> and you know we care so much
<0> =)
<0> heheheh
<10> i have some great ideas but i don't want to be ***ed with actually illustrating them
<10> indeed
<0> so you're not getting paid is the issue?
<0> :/
<10> not just that
<0> 'not just' - omg
<0> dont do it
<0> thats enuf to not do it
<0> hahaha
<0> jks :)
<10> the act of actually drawing these is just something i'm not enjoying anymore
<0> i ***ume ya got yer reasons
<10> well i can make money off of the shirts
<0> oh for your thingy
<0> ?
<10> this isn't for anyone but myself
<0> ahhh
<10> i don't design for people anymore
<0> give yourself a *2 raise... maybe you'll feel better
<10> people are ****ing stupid
<0> although nuthing *2 ... is still nothing
<0> but theoretically...
<10> indeed
<5> we have designers for the art part
<0> thats why it ****s to be 'everything'
<0> heh
<5> I'm really a system admin/systems architect that does flash on the side
<0> do what your best at and enjoy
<5> and really, I only do the movie player part of flash, the designers do everything else
<10> btw
<10> water is oh so ****ing yummy
<0> its definately in the top10 of liquids
<0> =)
<5> water is awesome, because I can make tea with it
<10> s/tea/pee
<5> you make pee with beer, tea with water
<0> you part indian merz?
<0> wuts with the teapee?
<10> no
<0> keke :)
<0> merz is pitchin a tent!
<10> that was just bad
<8> SHiZNiT: i have all text of my flashsite in an xml-file and now i need a good way of calling them from flash. i have them inside tags with names of the section the text is for.
<0> xml files can be written various ways
<5> if you listen to the others, xml is evil and should never be used
<0> you might want to look at google with 'flash xml tree to Object' or such
<0> likely a script out there that will help ya with such
<5> I personally disagree completely, and use the XML object and the XMLConnector objects
<0> find'n'bind
<0> wee
<0> whatever works for ya
<0> doesnt exactly sound like a documentation reader though or he'd use one of the many iteration examples
<0> so i still stick with 'search for a script'
