<ki9a> yes.
<MithWork> well, there's some freeware middleware
<MithWork> like MIDAS
<TByte> me looks up
<ki9a> that's included with delphi
<ki9a> pro + IIRC
<ki9a> or enterprise
<ki9a> not sure
<MithWork> there's also one made by the guy who did ICS
<MithWork> ? ics

<kubbi> #delphi Statistics/stats: http://www.carlo-kok.com/efnet.delphi/delphi.html
<MithWork> heh
<MithWork> ? fpiette
<ki9a> hehe
<ki9a> ? over

<ki9a> hrmm
<MithWork> Midware
<MithWork> http://www.overbyte.be/frame_index.html
<TByte> lol fpiette... damn I used to use that ICS
<TByte> hilarious, they're so shti
<MithWork> I dunno
<MithWork> I still say that for single-threaded it is nicer to use than indy
<ki9a> overbyte isn't free
<MithWork> midware is
<ki9a> sure ?
<ki9a> I thought it said "not free for Commercial"
<MithWork> MidWare is distributed as freeware and contains a complete help file as well as the full source code for all MidWare components and many sample applications.
<ki9a> weird
<ki9a> conflicting statements
<ki9a> click on purchase
<TByte> is it any good btw?
<ki9a> no clue
<MithWork> no clue here either, never used it
<ki9a> MithWork: it's 1000 dollar under commercial use under the Purchase button
<MithWork> yeah I saw
<TByte> cheeky bastard Francois :P
<ki9a> TByte: in anycase, there are a few frameworks, I'd say try them all and use the one the one you like
<Drk`Angel> Or write your own! ;)
<ki9a> good luck with that
<ki9a> ;)
<MithWork> it's not hard
<ki9a> there are a lot of quircks in delphi TDAtaset and co
<MithWork> yeah
<MithWork> but you don't need those
<ki9a> you don't use datsets?
<MithWork> I don't use the quirks :)
<ki9a> ah
<ki9a> Where is that switch? :)
<TByte> so if I want clients not to directly connect to the db, but through my own program, I need middle tier. so i guess they won't have much clue as to what I want to relay, they'd just have nice components to transfer data over tcp/ip :/ is that about right?
<ki9a> {$CRAPPYTDATASETMODES OFF} ?
<MithWork> simply get the data from one dataset, pump it onto a TCP/IP stream and pump it into one of those in memory datasets :)
<ki9a> TByte: the program in the middle would be called the middle tier
<MithWork> or the application tier
<MithWork> tho they're not always the same
<TByte> writing my own is always good to start with :/
<TByte> I guess my boss will rip me a new ***hole if i **** up
<MithWork> it gets a lot easier if you can limit the data format
<TByte> anyone seen Click yet?
<TByte> (Movie with Adam Sandler)
<TByte> I just want to fast forward :(.)
<TByte> great film btw
<TByte> You know middle-tier sounds really nice, u do me discount ki9a :P?
<ki9a> heh
<ki9a> Please do download the trial first
<ki9a> to try it
<TByte> url...?
<ki9a> www.remobjects.com/?dadelphi
<joepezT> does any diode with time delay exist ?
<TByte> o yea
<joepezT> i.e. it waits 500ms before sending current through?
<MithWork> sounds like a capacitor
<joepezT> hmm
<joepezT> got a min ?
<joepezT> I am trying to make a black box here.. I reiceve 12 volts from main power
<ki9a> joepezT: not xactly the right channel
<joepezT> ki9a, true, but you are the closest I got to experts ^^
<MithWork> I wonder where in the world you get 12 volts from the mains
<joepezT> cars ?
<joepezT> hehe
<joepezT> computers ?
<MithWork> that's not really main power
<ki9a> "input"
<joepezT> ok ok.. input
<TByte> so ki9a does it "help" me get my middle-tier to be a database server? if you know what I mean..
<ki9a> TByte: DataAbstract does yes
<TByte> and I'll still be able to use FIBPlus yeh?
<ki9a> yes. though the FIB driver is'n in the last trial yet
<ki9a> you can easily switch channels though
<ki9a> you could design the schema with IBX and later switch to FIB
<TByte> mid-tiers sounds like writing quality apps...imma give it a shot :/
<MithWork> hahah
<TByte> what's funny :()
<MithWork> yeah, just tell your boss you're designing an N-tier C/S solution
<MithWork> and add in some more buzzwords :)
<TByte> rofl
<MithWork> actuall ycall it a framework, not a solution :)
<TByte> trust me he has no faggin clue
<ki9a> N-Tier will actually sell much better
<ki9a> it's the current buzz words.
<MithWork> it's been teh current buzzword since 1992 :)
<ki9a> but it still is
<ki9a> Client/Server sounds like writing a BDE enabled application ;)
<Blade^> yeh
<MithWork> I did that once ... "Yeah it's an N-tier system". Didn't tell them that in this case N=1
<Blade^> :P
<ki9a> hehe
<TByte> lol
<ki9a> MithWork: it's still n-tier
<MithWork> I know :)
<Blade^> it should be n(n>1)-tier :)
<TByte> n div Blade : AV division by zero :P
<Blade^> I'm Zero cool
<Blade^> ;)
<TByte> u graduated this year?
<Blade^> no
<TByte> let me guess hell no!
<Blade^> not for another two
<Blade^> :P
<TByte> lol me too
<Blade^> i repeated my second year
<TByte> hahahahah
<TByte> me too, twice.
<Blade^> next year is placement
<TByte> man i haven't attended for 2 years... I kept paying and doing nothing
<TByte> smoked drugs, and getting pissed :)(
<Blade^> yeh
<Blade^> it happens
<Blade^> :(
<Blade^> thats what uni is all about :)
<TByte> long story here...yeah going to uni potentially can be such a mess
<TByte> picked up so many bad habits
<TByte> anyways, coffee time
<TByte> o Blade^ I got 16mbit line now
<MithWork> hml
<MithWork> my onterminate isn't being called ..
<MithWork> my onterminate isn't connected ...
<MithWork> whoops
<TByte> heh
<ki9a> Blade^: you ever worked with RO/DA btw?
<Blade^> no
<ki9a> just curious
<ki9a> ah ke.
<Blade^> I think the last time I tried to get on the beta it had ended
<TByte> basically MidWare uses ICS, **** that.
<Blade^> ICS blows
<Blade^> i really should work on my socket set today
<TByte> i gotta stop bothering about little things, just getting something to work is priority...rough coding
