<0> Ewww. <1> keep bugs from getting into my eyes when in aero position <0> I rode my bike through a m***ive flock of gr***hoppers one time. That was nasty, especially since that was when I still had really long hair. <0> s/flock/swarm <1> heh, gr***hoppers - lots of protein there <2> msocorcim: And how much do you want to spend? <0> And by m***ive, I mean that it was enough to close the airport in Phoenix for several hours. <1> around 50.00? <1> well I want to spend like $3.99 <0> Cheap Oakleys, perhaps? <2> You won't get anything decent for $3.99. <2> Ok, well, you want wraparounds, and you want interchangeable lenses because you want to use them at night (and you're going to want them in the day too, once you realize how nice it is to have the wind out of your eyes). <0> I guess I should say cheap Oakley clones. <2> You can't go wrong with Oakleys, but I don't know if you can find ones that meet those criteria for less than $100. <0> Especially if you want two lenses. <2> I wear gl***es from Serfas optics (http://www.serfasoptics.com), and I like them.
<1> http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=22223 <0> Vibes: Did you know (you probably did) that the guy who started Oakley was Mormon? <2> If you can't find Oakleys that work for you, I'd recommend the Serfas. <2> SirPsycho: Actually, I didn't know that. <0> Vibes: He named the company after his dog. <2> There's mine: http://www.serfasoptics.com/2006/interchangeables/sike_1126.shtml <2> msocorcim: And they're right in your price range. <1> multiple lenses? <1> or are they suitable for night riding? <2> Multiple lenses. <2> 4, actually. <2> Charcoal, brown, yellow, and clear. <2> Each has a specific purpose. <2> Though I never seem to use the brown. <1> yellow for fog/misty conditions - no idea about brown.. ****ty weather? <0> I went to school with his kids. I went on a tour of their factory one time too. That was pretty cool. <2> msocorcim: Gl***es are one area where it's worth it to spend the money on a known good brand. You want lenses that aren't going to shatter. <2> msocorcim: Well, yellow increases contrast, so it's good for bad weather and for things like mountain biking in an area where the trees create a lot of shadow. <2> I imagine the brown would just be for days when you want to get rid of some of the sun, but don't need the full charcoal. <2> Like an overcast but otherwise decent day. <2> Many cyclists have taken a serious eye or face injury by crashing with cheap gl***es on, and the lenses shatter or otherwise acquire sharp edges. <2> Oakleys are the best in that category... ballistic lenses are nearly bulletproof. <2> They will not shatter when you crash with them on. <0> Vibes: They had a pair of Oakleys on display thatn had been shot. Didn't even have much damage. <2> Oh, and when you finally get some gl***es, ignore what everyone else does and wear them on the OUTSIDE of your helmet straps. <1> I guess the multi-lens gl***es typically come with a nice compact storage case for the gl***es and spare lenses? <2> You'll notice that everyone you see around will have them on the inside, but then you look at pro racers and they're all on the outside... <2> ...And you wonder what they know that you don't. <1> the helmet strap probably deforms the templebars after a while <2> And what they know is that when you go down on your face, you want those gl***es to come off fast, not get caught up in helmet straps and tear into your face. <2> Yeah, multi-lenses will usually come with a nice case. <2> Mine did. <1> "a woman working at a bank saw smoke coming out of her terminal - she called the main office and asked if they had a fire down there" <2> lol <2> SirPsycho: I bet. I wonder if the government has ever considered contracting them for military eyewear. <3> hello <3> does anyone know of a way to copy a table using SQL <3> as in is there a statement for it <2> which database engine? <3> excel lol <3> Im using ADO to talk to it but I need a way to have sheets be preformated so I was wondering if there was a way to set up a template sheet and copy it <2> Heh. I don't think so. <3> it was worth a try <2> But I really don't know. <4> couldn't you jsut call the code that creates the sheet.. or drop the sheet to a file, and copy the file? <3> the create sheet code just creates a blank sheet and I dont have access to the excel formating functions via ADO <3> I can use a preformated sheet as a template but I cant make any more sheets then what I start up with <3> unless I close the connection ,and open it with excel <4> there's some excel components about, that work independently of excel.. depends on your cirumstance.. <3> 3rd party ? <4> yes.. but not many good free ones unfortunately <4> native excel is decent though.. <3> we are using it something like a database <4> i was wondering about that.. why not just use an SQL database? <0> mrHellFir: Break yourself of that habit immediately. Excel ****s for things like that. I know this from experience. <3> I know its not the best for it and all that but this is the way it has to be done and there is no way out of it <1> gotta give the financial people some busy work to keep them from ****ing things up... <3> I tried to talk them out of it but "this is what the customer wants"... <0> mrHellFir: Why not? You could use Interbase or mySQL or any number of other free database servers, if cost is an issue. <3> either way, I am trying to make the most of it, the excel server application object thing runs out of process and is as slow as it can get <4> well, at least you can be happy the didn't request using a range of txts as a database..
<3> but using ADO isnt half bad <3> lol <0> mrHellFir: Depending on what you need to do, converting it to a CSV file and going about it that way might be a viable option. <0> mrHellFir: Alternatively, you could import it into an Access database, which would give you a more full-featured database engine to work with that doesn't have Excel's horrible quirks. <2> This whole project sounds like a candidate for thedailywtf. <0> Vibes: Maybe, but we need more details first. <5> Vibes: I was thinking that too ... <4> suppose it depends how much data you're going to be working with.. <0> I got to play with Diebold voting machines today. That was interesting. <0> Took me all of about two minutes to find a bug. :) <2> Did you flip the switch and rig the vote? :) <0> Nah, they didn't give me enough time to play with them. <0> On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being most severe, I'd consider it about a 3.5. Not that bad, but not exactly confidence-inspiring, either. <1> Vibes: another item I'm shopping for is some carbon handlebars <0> If I caught it that quickly, they should have found it before the software ever got released. <2> Don't know anything about those, unfortunately. <0> msocorcim: Out of curiosity, why? Are your handlebars really all THAT heavy? <2> It's not always about weight. <2> Carbon feels different, and a lot people like the feel better. <1> it's not the weight - there's a ride I really enjoy that has about 10 miles of very rough road surface <1> and the road is also narrower there, so I try to move more quickly to get through it - so it beats the heck out of my hands <1> components made out of composite materials can be designed so they flex readily to a certain degree, then become very stiff <0> Ahh, I see. <2> I love my carbon seatpost. <1> I hope it's a platonic relationship ;p <2> Eeew. <2> Not like that. <2> sicko <1> I have a FSA carbon seatpost and phisik saddle w/chrome molly rails - they seem to do a good job of absorbing road shocks <6> does anyone know of a good article on using multiple layers in a layered window? <6> I'm trying to accomplish multi-level transparency <6> I mean. hi all. and then ^^^ <2> DaynaGirl: Nope, sorry. <2> And Hi. <6> coo. <6> but damn. <6> la. <6> one of my cats has a nervous breakdown everytime I leave the house and return... <6> she's all over me as if to say oh thank gawd you came back! <2> Castalia 4.2 is out: http://blog.twodesk.com/PermaLink,guid,f84d2162-626e-4cad-b63d-1af14c363b2b.aspx <6> is there a delphi magazine out there that people like? <6> I found one... "The Delphi Magazine" but 75 pounds sterling (plush shipping probably) is a bit steep. <2> I think that's the only one left. <2> ...since Informant went out of business. <6> anyone wanna work from home? <6> We have 12 world cl*** Delphi Developers and need another 12 excellent Developers ASAP to take advantage of immediate opportunities <6> http://www.wideorbit.com/company/jobs/delphidev.html <2> Work from home? It says openings in Seattle and San Francisco. <6> hmmm. <6> I got the impression it was 'distributed' and 'daily code submissions' <2> DaynaGirl: Do you know anything more about this company than this page says? <6> nope. <6> never heard of them before. <2> ok. <6> you looking to contract your services? <2> My guess is that they have small offices in several locations, and they have their developers in san francisco and seattle. <2> So the devs work there, and maybe a couple other small offices, hence it's distributed. <2> But not so distributed as to be work from home. <6> well if you work in the office... you should be leaving your code at work... that's what made me think it was a work from home <0> bbl <2> Whew! I think my todo list for the day is done. <2> Hey, and at precisely midnight too. <7> heh, I didn't think he came around anymore <7> or does he use a different name <2> Who? <8> sirpsycho <2> He comes around every couple weeks. <8> hrm, didn't notice :/ <2> It's been like that since he got married. <2> Almost 3 years ago. <2> Time for sleep. <9> hi need some help. got an acronym "SMF". have to think of a company name related to IT :\ <8> I think SMF is taken <10> ***y Mother ****er
