<0> http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/BackTrack
<0> its a slack base distro
<1> why are you asking about that in here?
<0> because im curios
<0> iwas googlin n see the distro
<1> yea, so am i
<1> why are you asking about that here
<1> ?
<1> oh im a bit slow today
<1> you are just trolling a bit
<1> np
<1> ill just go watch a movie
<1> please entertain yourself
<0> i just want to know if someones have used
<1> be wary of the bots

<0> r u always unpolite?
<1> r u always spellz0r like d1z?
<2> :|
<1> Robi: ill talk to you later, i need some sleep now
<1> but i liked your mail
<1> just
<1> sleep
<1> nn
<3> nn nagual
<4> aaaa, god damn it
<4> hdf: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x60
<4> so I guess that disk is either doomed, or experiencing some rather nasty cable issues
<4> this would explain why I have been having latency issues during I/O that seemed like dma-issues, even though dma was on
<2> for the love of
<4> me ?
<5> i guess me is the most important person in the whole world!!
<4> damn straigth
<3> Kristian: sorry :(
<4> I think I'm gonna start burning all the stuff I want to keep out on dvd
<4> I've had some rather bad experiences in the past with rebuilding software raid :(
<3> indeed
<3> you're using software raid 1, yes?
<4> raid 5
<3> ahhh!
<3> eevil :)
<3> I've had software raid 5 fail on me before too :(
<3> infact, I've had hardware raid fail on me
<3> and I think that is worse
<4> a couple of years ago I had a huuuuge filesystem corruption when the machine crashed in the middle of recovery
<3> yikes!
<4> suddenly I had 110 4GB files in a 30GB mp3/ogg directory
<3> nasty
<4> thank god I don't have any really important stuff here
<4> if I am ever going to be in charge of a file server, I'm gonna be super-paranoid about backups
<6> with hw raid5 there's not a lot you have to worry about :P
<3> except
<3> your controller failing
<3> ;)
<3> bye bye raid array
<7> sorry to bother you guys, but I'
<7> m drawing a complete blank here
<7> what's the command to reenter the setup menu where you can chose what to install on your system?
<7> not dselect
<7> the one with the nice graphics, where you just chose desktop, dev.tools etc
<3> tasksel ?
<5> rumour has it, tasksel is the simple method of installation. simply run 'tasksel'. If it doesn't work, try updating Available packages by running 'dselect' and doing an Update, then quitting and trying tasksel again. If you don't want to use dselect, you can also 'apt-cache dumpavail > /var/lib/dpkg/available', to update the tasksel menu. Or forget all of that and just run "dselect update && tasksel", be happy, smile.
<8> dont forget the most important part. smile =)
<7> tasksel
<7> :)
<7> thanks :)
<7> It's been bugging me all day
<3> np
<7> I think I can actually get some sleep tonight :)
<3> I will, once I smack this firewall ruleset about abit
<7> iptables?
<5> hmm... iptables is the user-space process used to administer iptables kernel parts on top of netfilter, somewhat like ipchains was in 2.2.. NOT a virgin, see ipchains, or ask me about <netfilter docs>, or at http://netfilter.samba.org/.(check it out because iptables (2.4.x) has some security holes) See also: masq, or try #iptables for help, or and a nice script to make a basic iptables script is at http://www.e3.com.au/firewall/index.php
<3> nah, ipfw
<7> I always use iptables
<7> but I guess it's a preference thing
<3> well

<3> it's an operating system thing :)
<3> the ruleset is for freebsd
<7> aah :)
<7> my one bsd box lasted for about 3 hours before it became a debian box again :P
<3> haha
<7> well, off to bed, thanks for the help :)
<3> np, night
<9> Howdy mates!
<3> howdeh
<9> Im looking for some kind of controllpanel for my debian box. I checked out webmin and ispconfig but they are kinda to much for me.
<3> to manage your debian box ?
<9> Im just looking for a simple thing to mange apache, mysql proftpd and some simple things via a webpage
<3> webmin IS your best choice.
<10> well not that i like it much but webmin is pretty straight forward
<3> Unless you want to pay alot of money for a hosting control panel like Plesk, or Cpanel
<3> Ronin`: agreed
<9> Well webmin does what it should but it feels so "unneedingly" big/slow etc. :)
<3> you should see cpanel
<3> and they charge you!
<3> webmin is modular
<3> you may not need all the modules it has
<10> dont use a webpage then ViPER^-, nothing faster then a term
<3> you can remove them, and speed it up
<3> except
<3> two terms!
<3> ;)
<9> Ronin`, true. :)
<9> hehe yeah or four terms. :P
<11> Hi
<11> Is anyone here using courier?
<11> ./etc/courier/userdb may not have group or word permissions. I have no clue what that means.
<12> uhm, is \r <-- unix , and \n <-- windows ?
<12> what do you need to make a load of money? in general?
<11> Can someone please help me?
<3> It means your permissions are incorrect
<3> fix them as per the manual
<11> Running it as root does that make any difference?
<3> what does the manual say, Jackt ?
<11> I was using the debian install instructions for courier imap and it says nothing about it,
<3> what debian install instructions?
<11> The ones that came with debian courier'
<3> you've installed this via apt-get, yes?
<11> yes
<3> and have you read /usr/share/doc ?
<11> most prograns apt does everything for you are you use dpkg-reconfigure package name
<3> and I did you type up the error message wrong?
<3> I have never seen that message in my life
<3> can you perhaps paste the exact error you get to pastebin.com
<11> That is the entre error message as I posted above'
<3> Jackt: thats usually the case. however unexpected variables do tend to crop up
<3> exactly like that?
<3> "group or word permissions" ?
<11> you may not have group or world permissions
<3> thats better
<3> check the file permissions on the file in question
<3> what do they show as?
<11> group is a common word
<3> what?
<3> what do the file permissions for /etc/courier/userdb say ?
<11> -rw-r--r--
<3> thats why
<3> what do the dir permissions for /etc/courier show ?
<11> I changed it to 775
<3> still the same issue ?
<11> yes
<3> and its makeuserdb thats giving you the error ?
<3> you never specified
<3> you need to change userdb to 640
<3> it has a world permission
<3> which means
<3> anybody can read it
<3> big securirty problem
<3> should fix it
<3> 01:10 < Jackt> -rw-r--r--
