I'm in no position to look for xorg.conf cuz I'm running a terminal laptop here :P <1> brb, ill reboot ok? <1> :) <1> 1 sec <1> hello again <1> islan: ! :)
<0> anders_: yo <0> anders_: still funky? <1> hum <1> yes? i need to install nvidia? :P <1> but i maybie shall (Re install all :) <1> listen <1> when i start to install on netinstall <1> u can choose on desktop blabla <1> if i dont choose anything an ugly debian starts <1> can i install KDE from there? <0> anders_: I don't have a gui for my debian, so I don't know what you're talking about <1> islan: do you understand what i mean? <0> anders_: but I have to be afk for a bit <1> bu <1> how do i install KDE? <1> :P <1> apt-get install kde ? <1> anyone here? <2> no you moron there are at least a 100 more people in here <3> anders_, time get your *** up and read some incredible basic howto's for debian :) <1> :d <4> hans anders <4> :p <3> :) <3> anders_, here is a place to start http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/reference.en.html and in general debian.org/doc <5> anyone here good with horde/imp ? :) <6> hey Radiance <7> can someone help me to set up a raid0 with debian? <8> http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO.html <7> the problem is that this should be performed after setup <8> oh you want to run your OS on raid0? <7> i want to configure it during install <7> yes <8> are you familiar with raid levels in general <8> traditionally... raid0 for the actual OS isn't the best idea <8> especially if it's a server <8> i was thinking that you just needed a raid0 volume <7> it are 2 parallel servers, both running raid0 <7> so i want to boot from a raid0 indeed <8> there are install time options for this <8> the installer prompts you for this ... just read the options :P <7> yeah, in the disk partitioner you can create a raid <7> but when i create one, the system hangs when it tries to install grubloader <9> try lilo <9> ive had problems with grub <7> ok ill give it a shot <7> by the way <7> before making a raid... i have to configure the partitions.... <8> you might need to do a custom install <7> am i supposed to set them all to a linuxRAID filesystem, or just the usual <10> hey all, I installed apache2 with php4 and put the LoadModule and AddType lines into the config files, but still when I go to a php page it tries to download the page rather then displaying it, what can be wrong ? <11> apache restart? <10> already done <11> which php4? <12> addhaaaaaaaandler <11> cgi ftw
<10> Kristian, what addhandler should I add ? AddHandler php-script .php ? something like that ? <10> and Tsunami just php4, not cgi <12> eeeeh <12> how about people learn what cgi is ? <10> I know what it is, I just don't use it :p <12> then you don't know what it is <10> whatever <0> is there something more to installing an updated kernel besides apt-get install [kernel]? <11> wget <kernel>? <0> no I mean, do I need to do anything after I apt-get? <0> trying to boot the new kernel gives me the message "synaptic reset failed" <0> then it stalls <13> ctrl c <0> lizsac: I can quit out of it fine, but I need to get it to work <13> you do? <13> synaptic reset? <13> is that like a trackpad? <13> is this on a laptop? <0> no, not synpatic reset <0> the kernel image <0> yes, it is <0> but I don't need a track pad or anything <13> i was thinking that it was just hanging on that part and you could ctrl c past it <0> but will ctrl-c just make it skip that step in the boot? <13> sometimes yes <0> oh, I'm just to used to ctrl-c as a form of quitting something <13> well that's what you would be doing <0> okay <13> it may or may not work <0> well then I'll go try it out then <0> thanks <13> what local root exploit is there for the kernels < 2.6.17.5 ? <13> or is that a ploy to get more people testing the new kernel? <0> well, that didn't work. the entire system locks up so that nothing short of a hard reset will do anything <0> before it says "synaptic reset fail" it says "FATAL: Module ide_detect not found" <13> ahh <13> bad kernel <13> bad bad bad <0> perhaps I should go for an earlier/more stable one? <13> what kernel are you trying to install? <0> 2.6.8-3-686 <13> might as well get crazy and go 2.6.15 <14> i will pay a lot of money to lance storm to beat me up <13> i had problems upgrading, so much that i downloaded the latest testing iso <13> and just started over <0> I don't need to, I just need something 2.6.2 or above that works with pentium II <13> i tried to go from 2.2 to 2.6 <0> well I'll go look at the versions for it <13> it took me a few days to iron out my 2.6 <1> hello <13> i didn't know that the madwifi modules were so easy to install <13> i kept trying to get in all the kernel source and compile before the madwifi source would even build <13> then i finally found out that all i had to do was put non-free in the sources.list <13> a little module-***istant <13> and badda bing <13> madwifi-modules-2.6.15-1-686-smp_0.svnr1644.0.9.0-2+2.6.15-8_i386.deb <6> loke: its on q-net. <15> uuuh <11> indeed <11> in #B***hunter.se to be precise <15> aah sorry for the nick was fooling around in another chan <11> hehe <15> hard to keep nick changes to one chan <16> I have a RAID1 array. The first drive failed, so I replaced it and installed grub thus: device (hd0) /dev/sda -- root (hd0,0) -- setup (hd0) -- quit <16> but, the system won't boot from sda! I have to plug in sdb (which, naturally, onto which I also installed grub) for the system to boot. <16> How do I reinstall grub on sda so that if/when sdb fails, the system will still boot? <16> nevermind. the bios somehow reset itself.
