<0> lakez: may i suggest you try a few other ircservers? <1> Ehm, how do i save in visualboyadvance? <2> stfu <3> lol <3> Juzzy, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=283005 <3> Its got smooth deb, just not official yet <4> http://packages.debian.org/unstable/games/scorched3d - I was really hoping this would get into etch <5> xtor: ya, thats a semi deccent looking vh manager, esp for free, unfortunitly they made it very debian specific <6> is or isn't <3> I think Juzzy said it was debian specific <3> which is why I didnt care...although I am trying to figure out how to install and use it right now hehe <7> It looks neat <7> whups <3> how does it run on the client side
<3> I tried to connect to http:9876 <3> Do you need a java client or what <7> dunno, haven't tried it yet <8> anyone up? <8> i'm running debian 3.1 <8> i'm being asked... "what is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel?" <0> did you install the headers? <0> lakez: did you fix it? <0> APz: why not just run xgl? <0> oh its a game <0> thought it was a vm <8> nagual <0> hm <0> Radiance: <0> how did you get that (s?)-line napta? <9> just call me superman <9> leap tall hoes in a single-bound! <9> how goes it nagual <0> if you dont want to answer my question, you could just say so... <9> its just a shell man <0> ok <9> it usually has issues and runs out of file descriptors <9> too many users on the system (60+ iirc) <9> keeps a nice load under 1 though, not bad for 60 irc'ers. <10> Do I have to install/update anything in debian to get firewire working ? (can't find my FW-disk, it worked under knoppix, but not directly under debian it seem) <9> thats because debian won't auto-mount it <10> yea, but can't seem to find it in the dev either.......shouldn't it be the same on debian /dev/sda1 ? <10> dmesg |tail doesn't seem to be giving much info about it either...... <0> Napta_: it should be trivial to increase the # of filedescriptors <9> nope <9> theres no sysctl option in their openbsd version <9> kernel recompile each time <0> openbsd <0> aha <0> well, you recompile the kernel anyway on upgrades, unless you follow <9> yeah it doesn't scale very well <0> oh i cant remember the release names <0> but -release + security patches <0> should still be trivial <9> well I can't really complain <9> this is free :) <0> yea, im just figuring out how to help them <9> OpenBSD brunner.silenceisdefeat.org 3.9 GENERIC#617 i386 <9> oooh <9> it's pretty upgraded <9> brb, sysctl'ing time <10> no one knows what I might try to get my FW device to work_ <10> ? <9> Mawrick: cat /proc/scsi/scsi - does it list your device ? <10> no, it says "no device" <10> attatched device: none <10> does the device have to be on at boot time, or is it ok to power it on after the system is up and running? <11> hello! i wounder how can I change my screen res in debian!? <12> crtl+shift+-/+ <11> ? <12> use that key combination <11> im on ssh connection to the machine! <11> how do i see what window handling system is installed? <0> teDDan: if you are on a ssh connection, why would you want to switch resolution? <0> btw teDDan i wouldnt recommend going on irc from your workplace :)
<13> haha <13> its the time i'm on it most :p <0> bad move .) <13> secure remote desktop connection <13> :p <13> i'm not irc'in from my works internet connection, thers a hop in between <0> and you thought that made a difference? <13> a few hops... <13> well whats the bad side of irc in work? <0> think about it <0> ask me again tomorrow <13> wtf <13> i'm not gonna spend time thinkin about it, tell me now or i'll forget all about it :) <0> but you want me to spend time on it <13> no longer than it too kto type that response <0> how do you know that, you dont have any idea what my reply would have been annyway.. <0> anyways, im off <13> 3 bullet points would do <13> k :) <14> You can get a higher resolution in ssh by changing to a smaller font. true story. <11> im configureing a machine! and user whants higher resulotion, im trying to find out how. Anyeone? <14> man xorg.conf <11> no manual found! how do I see what window handler is installed? <0> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy3LZFMqoTg <0> phyber: xorg is not in stable <0> and teDDan someone already answered how to do it above <0> if you arent going to read the answers dont ask the questions <14> nagual: ahh, sorry :) <0> :) <15> hmm 4557 ? S 22:42 hald-addon-storage <15> what is that service for? i mean its taking steadily like 40% cpu <0> no idea <14> Dhrizzt: 'man hald', might be a start. There is a URL in the man page you might want to visit too. <16> does anyone have any experience with installing promise sata raid cards in Debian? <16> in particular issues making drivers <17> if there a way to setup a pxe installed unattended system to isntalld ebian that doesnt require a debian system like FAI does? <17> I figured it out for centos but I am now workingo n systems to handle other distros..and debian is next but is like night and day difference form centos which I wasn't expecting <17> is there some way I can just make an install script for the debian installer to avoid prompting like I made for anaconda..I have googled around for info on the installer but I only get references to fai <18> its linux. given enough knowledge you can do just about anything you'd like ;) <17> I realize this..thus my quest for knowledge <17> I have been using freebsd for so many years I haven't spent much quality time with linux yet <17> butlooking to change that as we have need to support linux on our network <17> and Ia m tired of paying so much money to have techs on site do this install task when I figure there I could to it automatically and unattended <18> im sure you could pick apart the installer system on a debian cd and get it to do everything automagically <18> debian.org should have lots of info on boot-floppies if they are still calling it that <9> automagically <18> they were going to change it "soon"... <9> nice <17> naptabooting via pxe is our method <17> we dont have the ability to use floppies in our situation <9> is it an automagically pxe though ? <17> since the things are between 1000-5000 miles away from us <18> kib: it has nothing to do with floppies <17> pxe booting we do now <18> its just called that <17> I havei t working on centos using kickstart <17> but I guess wha tI need is the debian flavor ofk kickstart <17> I ususaly just get the mini netboot cdrom and have it bot via pxe to that image <17> that much is easy..waht I need is a way to script the installer so it never prompts <17> and just does its job and reboots <18> kib: right. so you could probably just make your own netboot image <18> by screwing with the debian installer system aka boot-floppies <17> I could but I dont know much about how the debian installer works yet <17> its clealrey nothing like the centos one <18> kib: and like i said, debian.org. <17> is there a script file like kickstart it reads on startup? <18> i've no idea <16> here is a quick question.. I am making a driver for an sata card.. I have visited the vendor's web site.. followed the instructions, yet when I go to install the driver so it recognizes my raid controller, I am left with a bunch of dependency errors as if the actual make on the file is incorrect. Where would be the first place to look to see what happened incorrectly? <18> johnnyjon: it fails on make, or on configure? <16> everything seems to make correctly and I have the .o file <16> I then drop it onto the raid machine, and install the driver <16> it is at that point I receive dependency errors <16> but the make looks clean <18> kernel versions (and headers) must match between the two machines
