<1> Whyvas: the ones you like
<4> ftp.countrycode.debian.org ?
<3> i mean the ones that come preset
<4> apt-setup can give you those

<1> Whyvas: the ones you choose
<4> beyond ftp.countrycode.debian.org ...
<5> hm
<6> Is it possible to recover from /usr/bin being rm *'d? Im copying over from a similar debian sarge setup now
<6> will it work?
<4> it might ?
<5> if you are already doing it...why bother asking?
<6> nagual: because I dont have a warm fuzzy
<5> i think you do
<6> but, your right :>

<8> Hi, using the start stop daemon can I add env -i to it in some way?
<9> I have eth3 & eth4 bonded into bond0 using sk9843 controllers... With ethtool, I can see both eth3 and eth4 are showing 1000mbit-fd but bond0 is showing 10mbit-hd... Any thoughts as how to correct this? It seems ethtool and mii-tool show different information
<10> wow another busy night on here!
<11> you can always tru #chatzone on undernet ?
<11> try*
<6> man i waxed my qmail setup when i lost /usr/bin
<12> :x
<6> though i recovered everything but smtp isnt working too well
<6> and im out of ideas..
<6> and i have 98 people waiting for it to be up tommorow morning
<6> 1300 dollars riding on the line here
<6> all because of a stupid mistake
<10> Radiance: i was trying to be gregarious
<11> fsteves, what happened ?
<10> fsteves: not to sound stupid, but is there any bakups?
<6> Radiance: i was messing around finalizing some personal admin scripts, one to sa-learn all spam dirs with find and grep, then to do a rm with xargs
<6> well, i did xargs rm *
<6> from inside /usr/bin
<6> =/
<6> totally blanked
<6> next thing i know its empty
<4> speaking of dead chanels... I've been "looking" (or thinking of looking) for other good tech-related chanels ... that aren't TOO high traffic... any suggestions ?
<6> so, i go on my local box, tar'd it up, and threw it back on
<6> been trying to fix all missing packages, and reinstall anything that may have been lost
<6> all processes are running fine
<6> even after reboot
<6> but, nothing going on with smtp
<6> , just denying all messages
<4> who needs smtp anyway :P
<4> what kinda errormessages ?

<6> I tail'd all of the logs, and mail.log isnt even logging, minus imap attempts
<6> so, its not getting that far
<6> and thats logins from the webmail
<6> well
<6> here
<6> sec
<4> does the mail bounce ?
<6> nope
<6> and its not queing
<6> sec
<4> so it basicly vanishes ...
<6> tcpserver: deny 13277 mail.angletonpd.net:12.163.179.251:25 wnz.soccerunderblink.com.247.47.209.in-addr.arpa:209.47.247.24::51256
<6> spam.. lol
<6> thats the qmail-smtpd/current
<4> and you reinstalled the mta ?
<6> its running, and nmap shows it
<6> and you cna telnet into it, and set ehlo to the smtp
<6> say rather
<4> and it accepts mails ?
<4> but just kinda forgets what to with them afterwards ?
<6> i sent a test message internally, with a script
<6> and it made it to postmaster
<6> tests spam/av/whitelist/content
<6> only the good msg got through, and it made it
<6> so, that was fine
<6> mail.log/err/warn arent reporting anything worthwhile
<6> neither is squirrelmail when you send
<6> no error message, just says: Server Replied
<6> nothing else, blank
<6> anyone here have qmail experience? im in a bind.
<6> id appreciate it
<11> fsteves, this all happened after rm'ing the bin dir ?
<6> Radiance: yes
<11> it contains usually alot of stuff
<11> fsteves, perhaps you should try to reinstall the mail system from scratch
<11> follow all the steps and packages to get the mail working as you did before
<11> if that doesn't solve it, then it probably depended on alot more in /usr/bin and without the right binaries it won't work
<11> even better, without backups, i'd reinstall the whole box from scratch
<6> problem is it was a remote setup
<6> and my guy is gone now
<6> until tommorow
<6> man, stick in the spokes
<4> if I deleted anything in /usr/bin/ I'd run to /proc/ and start copying like a mad man
<4> starting with irssi
<4> or I would just shut the box down and go watch a movie :P
<11> fsteves, sux dude, what else was installed beside the usual small tools ?
<11> :)
<6> Frontpage extensions

<6> and, city hall uses frontpage...
<6> it was TOTALLY seemless until now
<6> lol
<11> fsteves, so perhaps copy the /usr/bin dir from some other box to that one ?
<6> i did that
