<0> Should I go for primetime listing on Yahoo Local ?
<0> or buy adwords on google ?
<1> google is useless with adwords unless you throw big time cash, with yahoo you have more for less money
<2> oh yea?
<2> why do you say that Radiance ?
<3> I don't know anyone who actually uses yahoo, though it's not like I've interviewed everyone I know and asked them about their search habbits, and I do ***ume people still use it
<4> americans use it a lot
<4> pretty much everyone else uses google
<3> they also elected bush for president though
<2> Radiance has proven his knowledge to me before about internet marketing/sales
<3> I don't really doubt him
<2> Kristian: noone is saying its better
<2> all im asking, if i use online marketing,w here are my kronas best sent
<2> spent
<3> yeah, and I think that depends a lot on the target audience
<2> probably

<3> Usign yahoo for selling a product that would mostly interest norewgian people, for instance, seems like a bad idea :)
<2> well, the people i mostly want to reach are dyslectics, or rather, their parents
<2> im sure there are a lot of nordic people using yahoo
<2> btw
<2> if you know an expert on internet marketing/sales
<2> who would spend a little time giving me advice, please let me know
<2> Radiance: how do yo udefine big time cash in taht context btw?
<0> yeah adwords looks like its more geared toward a "Sell Product" type sight I am a service oriented biz
<5> m_ssl_openssl.cpp:17:25: openssl/ssl.h: No such file or directory
<5> m_ssl_openssl.cpp:18:25: openssl/err.h: No such file or directory

<8> evening kids
<3> evening
<3> fireworks are great
<3> but apparantly, the family dog disagrees
<3> he just went mental half an hour ago from some fireworks and still hasn't calmed down
<3> and best of all, the only firework-safe place in this house is under my tiny computer-desk, where he doesn't fit because of the desk "floor" which isn't even, so I either have to watch him roam around the house restlessly or move and let him have my spot
<3> hmm, anyone tried getting pictures off of nokia phones with the usb cable ?
<3> mine registers as an usb modem / isdn adapter which kinda ruins the fun
<8> does your nokia have a memory card?
<8> if you switch off the phone, and plug it in via usb
<8> is it m*** storage
<8> ?
<8> my sony does that.. switched on it needs drivers and is detected as a 3g modem.. switched off it's detected as m*** storage
<8> but eh, usb is for g00bers
<3> pft
<3> bluetooth is for people who don't brush
<3> their teeth
<3> my phone mostly sits there looking stupid if I power off and connect usb
<8> I want to make a joke!
<3> ./configure it first
<8> says something about kernel oops
<8> core dumped
<8> hda1 on fire
<8> amazingly hda5 is not on fire
<9> ulimit -sC 0 :)

<9> I dump the core every morning when I wake up
<9> right after breakfast
<8> right after the bran flakes? ;)
<9> ;)
<9> I heart gigabit
<3> yai for obexftp
<1> nagual, sorry bud had a connection issue. About google vs yahoo, i can only speak from what i've experienced. I've seen a few companies i've done some work for use yahoo and google with amounts of about 2000 to 3000 $, most results and positive ranking came from yahoo. With google (a huge company now) the results where very low. I suspect this is because they're focussed on who has the biggest budget to advertise and so on, means for the same amoun
<1> t you get way less compared to yahoo :)
<1> ofcourse yahoo does basically the same but in practise it showed for them that yahoo gave way more back for their money as in clients/ranking etc
<10> =)
<10> Radiance: =)
<7> when i mount a new drive eg mount -t ext3 /dev/hdc1 /mnt/hdc , does it have to be /mnt/hdc, can i make it /hdc and to access that drive i would just cd into hdc?
<1> nasty :-)
<7> which part?
<4> risc2u: wouldn't it make more sense to name the mount-directory as something more descriptive than the drive and the partition?
<4> like /mnt/mystuff or /mnt/my_hardcore_porn_collection_with_animal_porn?
<7> lol
<4> you can name or place the mount directory as you wish
<7> well im all new to this, but i then also want to use dm-crypt to encrypt the partition and name it jail?
<11> I have mine as /mnt/this_isnt_pr0n and /mnt/seriously_not_pr0n and of course /mnt/if_you_think_this_is_pr0n_you_are_wrong
<7> so will i need to mount it as jail first
<11> of course, the most commonly used mount point is /mnt/www_free6_com_mirror
<4> tolecnal: right next to /mnt/goatse_cx_mirror ?
<11> APz: no, not that one
<4> risc2u: depends on the way you're doing the jail. I guess you might want to first mount the drive, then run some programs in jail
<8> gah, I hate people who adjust their http piplining in firefox to make 30 concurrent requests to a web server
<8> are they trying to piss me off heh
<4> but it's more effective that way !!!!
<8> not for the admin :p
<4> I mean, you could crank it up to have 1000 concurrent requests and it'd be 1000 times faster !!!!
<8> heh, if it wasn't for the 16-cpu and 128gb of ram I might be pissed off :)
<11> well, you still have the bottleneck of the I/O system, especially the NIC. but my guess here is multi peer as well? :)
<8> it will be along time before the I/O system or the NIC interfaces get saturated on that box heh
<8> 20gb/s of bi-directional I/O heh
<11> that'd suffice for one or two concurrent users :)
<8> hehe
<8> but nah, more concerned about my personal web server, than my work systems
<10> =D
<3> Is it time for another pop quiz ?
<3> easy one: "Events occur in real time"
<12> in gnome, my maximized windows are slightly larger than the physical screen, wtf

<9> I woudl check that out
<6> audacious developers!
<0> anyone beside me in here interested in audacity ?
<6> I am
<0> great program
<6> seriously. I find it somewhat useful. I intend to use it more
<6> how do you adjust the normalization feature? can you?
<6> I hate it when tracks from different sources are recorded at wildly different volumes.
<0> I am wanting to record a audio track from the line out on my stereo and then play that track and record myself on a second track , them mix the two ..
<0> my last attempt i simply recorded the stereo playing the song at the same time I was playing the sax and the mix was awefull
<6> awesome? or awful?
<6> awesomely awful, perhaps. :P
<0> adjusting the normalazation effect is easy ?
<0> just raise the db
<0> GiftdKook: go to my website and tell me what you think www.nwokfire.com
<0> the song plays
<6> uh, sorry. no multimedia for me. I'm too easily distracted as is.
