<0> israel and america are the bigest terrorist
<1> I'm trying to compile libapache2-mod-mono (from unstable) on my debian sarge. When I run "dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b" it stops with an error saying: dpkg-gencontrol: error: current build architecture i386 does not appear in package's list (i386, powerpc). It seem to me that i386 is in the list. Its included in the debian/control file also.
<1> Any ideas why I get this error?
<0> they killed the childs
<2> are israeli distros around?
<3> dunno
<3> if there was.... Jew Linux, I see that spawning about 10 000 diffrent quotes on bash.org
<4> lol
<3> wohoo
<3> it barely even screamed at me when I switched the disks
<3> w-t-f
<5> ?
<6> lolzroyce
<3> well, I'm off to bed... moving this box (and most of everything else I own, in fact) tomorrow :)
<7> hey im moving this week too
<7> just have to get my dsl-connections up and running there first :)

<3> it'll be hell moving from 100mbit to adsl... and I'll loose my web-hosting too
<7> hehe
<7> i like my dsls
<7> one shdsl and one adsl2+. a /28 on the adsl and two /29s on the shdsl
<8> http://rafb.net/paste/results/TnyouL38.html i have this script here, with cron, and sometimes it works, and others it doesnt, everytime i test it with outputting data into logs it works, but sometimes within cron it doesnt work ;(
<9> mmm the thing that should not be
<9> circa.... 1990? i think?
<10> anyone have a good recent tutorial on installing postfix on debian? : )
<4> Bwen, google has:)
<9> setting up postfix *properly* is quite the educational journey
<4> indeed
<9> i doubt any one tutorial would be good enough
<4> it's easy to apt-get and enter a few things, the real work is making it READY for practise
<9> anti-uce mainly
<11> i used this one:
<11> http://workaround.org/articles/ispmail-sarge/
<11> good luck denken_
<9> ...
<9> i. hate. satellite.
<12> has anyone had any experence with touchscreens?
<13> tehy work like mive
<13> mice*
<14> no, noone in the entire universe has ever had any experience with touchscreens
<14> they just appeared one day and people look at them blankly
<14> ask?
<15> If you have a question, just ask away on channel. If somebody knows, they'll answer :) For best results, be specific, informative, complete, concise and on-topic! Don't ask if you can ask a question first. Also don't ask if anyone uses/knows about foo. Please don't be demanding or insulting. Remember, we're all volunteers. Finally, please don't /msg people without permission or demand an answer from one particular person. Thanks!
<16> Morning, i was installing sarge netinstall to a vmware machine, now I have the dialog "Welcome to your new debian system! This program will walk blah blah setup users etc" but it wont take OK (enter, space) for an answer! what gives? Is it safe to reboot now, can I resume the setup?
<16> well i have to reset it because i cant do jack in it
<17> hmm
<17> can you switch console?
<17> alt + f2
<16> no because im running from wmware
<12> cmug, sounds like you dont have control of the vmware session
<16> but rebooting took it back to the same dialog
<16> nexis, yeah something went foobar there
<12> if you click on it, you should be able to run any command.
<18> hello everyone, is it ok to put build a firewall at the same time my DNS server and proxy server[squid]?
<16> nexis, nope
<16> nexis, i am doing this remotely with vmware-server, i did reconnect aswell but still nothing
<16> like vmware lost my keyboard totally for some reason
<12> what platform is the vmware server and client on?
<16> nexis, i386 both
<17> cmug: you should
<16> nexis, both in ubuntu linux
<16> rza_, should what
<17> just connect with vmware server console
<12> cmug, few sugestions, try this
<12> connect to irc.freenode.net and ask in #vmware
<16> rza_, i did try to reconnect, problem persisted
<12> good people over there.
<12> this is a little out of the scope of a debian issue.
<16> True, I guess I really wanted to know if I can resume the dialog..
<17> cmug: you need to click to screen
<17> with mouse
<16> rza_, duh, no **** sherlock :D
<17> otherwise the vmware wont catch the input
<16> rza_, yes I am very much aware of that
<12> yea, but once you gain capture of your input, you can resume all you want
<16> nexis, resetting the virtual machine restored my input
<16> its all good now people

<17> no its not
<17> the server is running ubuntu
<16> Soylent green is still made of people??
<17> so everything isnt good
<16> rza_, yea yea yea
<16> whine whine whine
<19> morning
<17> nagual: have you seen v for vendetta?
<19> yes
<19> hm
<19> im still a bit out of it
<19> i think i slept around 16 hours this night
<3> morning :) nag, rza_, awol :)
<20> ;>
<3> oh my oh my
<3> why did I boot up!
<3> ah well, I'm moving this box today, so I guess I'll be getting a new hostname.
<3> oh well, here goes... be back in a few days :)
<19> **** i got so much to do
<19> nice :)
<21> good to know (at least for me) : if you put a script in /etc/cron.daily, don't give it any extension (like .sh) or it won't run
<21> If I could have an explanation, or confirmation..., yhx :)
<17> Burps: why wouldnt it run?
<17> just put #!/bin/bash to first line on your script
<21> well I have #!/bin/sh already...
<14> make sure the file has r and x flags (read and execute)
<14> dinner time methinks
<21> -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 380 Aug 1 10:52 /etc/cron.daily/ibpc_backups.sh
<22> hi! any suggestions if I want to install debian running virtual servers... either Xen or vserver? I want to run debian stable... needs to be as sable as possible
<22> thanks!
<17> vmware
<22> I did not look at vmware... any advantages or disadvantages in regards to xen or vserver... (I am actually totally new to virtual servers)
<23> just wondering is it very hard to get a standard core only dabian setup to be a router?
<2> the step to make it route is not very hard its just echoing a 1 to /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
<2> but you need to know what routing roules you want
<17> winjunkie: do you want just router or do you need firewalling?
<23> so that will make it go from one network to the other, my network is already setup in win with static ips, it goes: phone line --dsl pci mode --> P4 box ---100 crossover --> Dual P3 Server P4 box --wireless b-> p200 win+linux
<23> firewall would be nice, but i'm already pretty secure with symantec
<23> so in my current setup my p4 is acting as a router huh?
<23> i just want to remove the cards from the put it in the p200, because i do video capture and other stuff and i want to run all my internet apps on another box, the dual p3 i gave to my bro
<23> do you's know what i mean?
<17> no
<23> lol ohhhhhh man
<23> i cant be stuffed
<23> lol
<17> "i just want to remove the cards from the put it in the p200"
<17> mysterious sentences
<23> i just want to remove the cards from the pentium 4 put it in the pentium 200, so that acts as a router and i could run internet apps off it too
<17> ok, then why dont you do that?
<23> let me ask you this, would you put the cards in the p200 and do that or would you leave the hardware setup as is but run all the internet apps off the p200?
<23> i'm just try it, So in my head is, get ndiswrapper working, setup debian as router, install a browser
<17> define "internet apps"
<17> i would make the p200 as routing firewall
<17> and i wouldnt run anything else on it
<17> maybe webserver if i needed one
<17> then i would use p4 behind the firewall
<17> and possibly beat my bro with baseball bat
<17> or sledgehammer
<22> I am reading about installing Xen using debian backports... anyway, all examples I see use Grub as a boot loader instead of Lilo (which I have installed) any reason for that?
<17> why didnt you install vmware?
<17> you can run any operating system in it
<17> even windoooowsz
<14> grub is more advanced in comparison to lilo
<14> more extensive i should say
<23> i cant find the ndiswrapper debian wiki
<14> http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/wiki/index.php/Quick_HOWTO_:_Ch13_:_Linux_Wireless_Networking
<23> wow that a huge one
<23> i cant use apt-get so i gotta do that tarball thing, but i was reading about automatic module thing, and kernel headers have to be installed
<23> if anyone has some spare time can someone help me install ndiswrapper? i'v gone though this wiki its seems ok but i dont have internet access, so could someone check if i need internet acces for the installation? i can download from another pc and have the nessasery files ready
<19> you cant use apt-get?
<23> http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/401
<23> the page says its not uncluded and you have to compile it yourself
<19> compile what
<23> but it is using apt-get for something
