<0> then we found on internet that they usually go in the same spot
<0> hence why its occasionly called the comunity pile
<0> ;P
<1> EneergE: You stole 5,858,427 gold from M***_Center!
<1> EneergE: You stole 6,056,237 gold from Ice-Beotch-Fo0!
<2> nice
<2> i just got through finishing my drawer on my desk
<2> got to glue on one more piece before its totally done, well besides the side piece being stained
<2> i wish i was good at carving, id make a whole new desk
<1> saw, dremel and drill are all you need
<3> _phire, are you a networking god?
<1> no
<2> ive actually drew up a desk design with dimensions that i might take that on as a project later. now that schools started back, i wont have time for nothing. chemistry will destroy my free time
<2> see if yall can do this.. sit in a chair, with your right foot start twirling it around in circles clockwise. then try to draw a 6 with your right hand wthout the foot start going counterclockwise
<4> my hard drive enclosure, when started, will make the ding of windows recognizing something plugged in followed by the beep saying something was disconnected within like 10 or 20 seconds, it's not just this pc I tried it on two
<2> are you plugging it into the computer or a keyboard usb port or something

<1> did you properly install the correct drivers before plugging in the device?
<4> it worked before, windows has the drivers
<4> and the computer's usb port
<1> something has changed if it no longer works and you're plugging it directly into a high powered port
<4> it has a plug
<4> if it matters ;)
<4> do you have any ideas of what changed?
<1> well it's your pc. ***uming you did nothing, and you're installing the drivers first on other pc's, using the proper cable and it still isn't working.. i'd look into it being a faulty device
<1> sometimes if the device is say, usb 1.0 and you have usb 2.0 ports, it can cause conflicts
<1> sometimes they'll work and sometimes not.. i've had devices work intermittently before that were of incompatible usb versions
<4> it's a combo drive as in it has firewire too, but I don't have the same firewire connection rather I have the small one on my notebook and none on my tower
<4> I'm gonna go eat supper now I'll keep my scroll bar up so that you can help out if you guys can
<4> thanks
<5> anyone here have a abit nf7-s mobo ?
<5> i can't find the option to boot from a usbkey anywhere in the bios
<6> hmm
<6> not sure if it exists
<6> not sure if i've ever tried though
<6> boot from a usb key?
<6> like a usb flash drive
<5> just a 256mb usb key stick
<5> http://timswine.com/ucf/usbkey.jpg
<2> perhaps make a boot disk and try to boot form the bootloaders detection of the drive
<2> ive had to do that once before
<6> usb in dos?
<7> heh, sup everyone
<2> can anyone recommend a better usb hub for me. this hub here, you hook the computer's usb to it on one side of the hub, and if you want more power you hook the power in on the other side. it looks weird with cords coming out both ways
<2> if ones cheap enough i may buy another one
<2> i need the extra power adapter, so one that supports extra power input
<8> USB hubs should always have power adapters.
<9> Not necessarily. The USB port provides enough of its own power for small low-power devices.
<9> I've seen such hubs, usually very cheap, with no AC Adapter
<9> Most hubs these days have a swtich where you can choose between bus-power, or Adapter power
<9> switch*
<2> thanks.
<2> yes theres quiet a few that are only bus powered
<9> I would also check whether you need USB2.0 support or not
<9> 1.1 hubs will work, but 2.0 devices will run at 1.1 speed
<2> heh 2.0 always on the topend of things
<10> http://youtube.com/watch?v=1TuSwvFh-9g HAHAHAH
<11> anyone here like gelato?
<11> http://channels.netscape.ca/life/article.adp?id=20060810120209990001
<11> make your own
<8> plat0nic: not on notebooks!
<9> what about notebooks?
<8> USB hub on notebooks don't provide enough power
<8> USB ports
<8> for a USB hub
<9> wanna bet?
<9> if it didn't provide a certain voltage, it wouldn't be USB
<8> heh believe me, I had a USB hub that could run some low consumption devices (like a gamepad)
<8> but a vibrating gamepad killed it
<8> a vibrating wheel too
<8> (for racing games)
<12> That's why some higher end ones come with ac adapters. :(
<9> the vibration feature is too much for any USB port
<9> even an optical mouse can't run on bus power alone
<9> wait, I take that back
<8> from Ask Jack:
<8> Plug a mixture of devices into a non-powered hub and some might work while others might not, and you probably won't get much help from Windows as to why they aren't working.
<8> link: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/askjack/2005/09/powered_usb.html

<8> and in my experience
<8> that's exactly what happens!
<8> I never recommend nonpowered USB hubs
<9> The USB specification provides a 5 V supply on a single wire from which connected USB devices may draw power. The specification allows no more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.375 V.
<9> Initially a device is only allowed to draw 100 mA. It may request more current from the upstream device in units of 100 mA up to a maximum of 500 mA.
<9> ^^ wikipedia
<8> "One of the problems with USB is that a device is only allowed to draw up to 500mA of power (100mA on first connection). So, if you buy a non-powered hub, it will only support one high-power (500mA) peripheral, and the other ports on that hub may be useless."
<2> Cons: After updating the firmware to Version 1.2.15, I could not play Battlefield2 or any other online game. Netgear Tech Suppport, "Since disabling the SPI helped with the setup, you will have to use that as a workaround." So, if I buy a car and the headlights do not work, would I use a flashlight as a "workaround?"
<2> lol
<8> well my mobo has 8 USB ports
<8> so I don't use USB hubs :)
<1> It has a switch to run it either on its own power or the bus
<2> i think im going to get this anyware hub
<1> Scorpius: lame
<2> its got 7 ports and its powered
<2> and the computer/power connections arent on different sides
<2> yeah my other computer had 6 ports and i didnt need a hub. but im on a laptop now that only has 2 ports
<2> ill have 4 ports with my new motherboard. ill probably buy an internal hub for it
<2> oh yeah, that anyware hub has a blue led, which would match the other leds i have on my desk
<1> brb
<2> they should all use blue leds, they are so much prettier than green.
<2> looking for a router while im im on newegg. they dont seem to have any good N routers; there might not even be any good N routers, yet. not sure
<2> hey, hows a set of binoculars a computer related accessory?
<13> sounds like a badly attempted tax writeoff
<2> lol
<2> neweggs got some binoculars listed under computer parts
<2> how would I modify a case fan to work using a usb
<2> should be fairly easy, but not sure
<14> you'd have to get a fan that drew less than 100mA
<15> hi
<14> and then just hook up the +5v and ground from usb connector to the power and ground on the fan
<14> most of the fans i see are around 200mA
<14> why would you want to power it via USB, anyway?
<2> maybe possibly dc
<2> thinking about mounting a buncha fans on a board and then putting it inside my desk
<14> ah
<14> do you have te fans already?
<2> yeah
<14> if not you can get small AC fans
<2> this one draws like 180ma though
<2> hmm
<14> i'd get a 1A dc wall-wart from ratchack or something
<14> ratshack
<14> then you could run 5 of them
<1> What's the ascii code for (TM)?
<9> 153
<1>
<11> no
<2> yeah i got that thing too
<1> I can't seem to find it in the character map
<11>
<14> ascii doesn't have one
<9> yes it does
<11>
<11> got it
<14> ascii also doesn't have (c) and (r)
<14> they're font-specific
<9> nope
<9> ascii has those
<11>
<14> nope
<11> ok
<11> .
<16> has officially found the entrance to "country club hill" an abandoned road in his area he has been trying to find for half a year now, going to play a day with his dad and a camera to go walk down it :) w00h00
<11> oh brother
<11> ok ttyl
<11> chow
<14> ciao
<1> I'd rather chow, atm.
<9> mbuna:You're right, it's not ASCII that /ascii
<9> err
<9> that are in
