<0> and whats wierd is that no matter whether the answer to the isNull is true or false the dosomethinghere always gets run
<0> any ideas
<1> hey
<1> Anybody work for Sitepoint?

<2> !request http://www.crazyhooters.com/luckypeople (ccbill)
<3> !try irc.thundercity.net
<4> is there a way to force VS 2005 to launch IE instead of firefox when debugging ASP.NET
<5> how can I p*** cookies from Site A to Site B?
<6> anyone know of a good sms 2 way messaging provider in the USA? so far they all dont work lol
<7> I've got a cl***ic ASP website. On my machine, when it hits an error server-side, I get detailed info in the browser (type of error ("syntax", etc), the line it occurred on, etc). On a production server when an error occurs, the browser just shows "The website cannot display the page". No details about the error. What can I do to make the production environment show a detailed error message?
<8> leep: iis settings, configuration, asp, show detailed error message
<8> you actually want to set up a page to trap and notify you of the error
<8> you can also just browse the application log for the error
<7> Where would this application log be?
<8> event log, application
<8> sounds like you need to learn about windows first
<7> Not so much Windows... I did know about the event log, but I didn't realize ASP logged errors there. Probably should have thought about that. :)
<7> When you say "IIS settings", do you mean the properties for the virtual directory the ASP app is in? I'm in the IIS snap-in for MMC.
<8> it'll be in both a vd or at top level
<8> click configuration -> debugging
<8> i'm doing this blind btw
<8> so, you might have to do a bit of clicking
<7> You're right on target. That's where it is.
<7> MadScribe: BTW, I just checked the event log on my development IIS box and ASP isn't logging errors there. Is there something that needs to be configured to make IIS/ASP log errors in the event log?
<8> well, techinically i'm using asp.net, app errors are logged there, i was hoping asp would have the same behaviour

<8> i haven't used asp/vbscript in years
<8> and i don't miss it =p
<7> Ah, I see. It would appear that ASP does not. And I was an ASP.NET developer up until about 2 years ago. I (reluctantly) took a contract with a company who's product they sell is a cl***ic ASP app. It's turned out to be the dream contract (pays VERY well, keeps renewing, I work from home, with almost complete freedom of choice on how I do things). Although I would prefer .NET development, I wouldn't give up this contract for anything. :
<7> Sorry, I meant to say I was a .NET developer, not an ASP.NET developer. I did mainly desktop apps.
<8> ah
<8> two steps back
<9> leep so when you stay there for 3 years
<9> and decide to leave
<9> wtf you gonna do?
<9> you will be behind, with y our most recent experience in asp.net and .net beign seen as "junior"
<10> hey guys i want to know if there is a way to make my images all load at the same time basically have the whole page appear at once with out haveing to sit there and rwrite each image name into a preload script
<7> loonatik: You are certainly correct, and that does bother me, but it's not often a self-employed contractor finds the "dream" contract like I have. I'm going to enjoy it while I can. They're getting ready to renew my contract for two years, and they have plans of rewriting their app in ASP.NET 2.0 this year so hopefully I'll get back into .NET development before this contract ends. :)
<11> Can anyone help me out?
<8> ask your question
<8> if anyone knows they might answer
<8> if it is an easily googliable question we will however be forced to pelt you with small stones
<8> and sharp rusty pointy things
<10> hey guys i want to know if there is a way to make my images all load at the same time basically have the whole page appear at once with out haveing to sit there and rwrite each image name into a preload script
<11> I'm trying to setup a program that lets you enter a value then lets you select from a select box (2 of them) Centimeter/feet/kilometer/ and inch
<11> And i can't figure out how to get both values and know which is which to get them to convert
<11> and to start off it won't even let me Dim centimeter as decimal because it says "Unused Local Variable"
<11> Makes sense tho, haven't used them yet; duh
<12> anyone use clasp?
