<0> hello
<1> hii
<2> why do people insist on sending me jpgs
<3> 72 dpi of course
<0> oh, hi gary, i have a question i hope someone can answer
<1> ask away
<0> i've been using curves to brighten/lighten dark images, and all of a sudden the program is darkening instead of lightening. is there a reset button for Curves?
<1> change the colour mode back to rgb
<1> you made it cmyk
<2> this one is 300 dpi
<2> but i still have to color correct
<3> lyr be thankful you got that much then
<0> where do i change that?
<0> it is set on rgb in the curves window
<1> oh
<1> check image>mode

<3> jhet hold down the alt key and look at the cancel button its now a reset button
<0> this is what i normally do... Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Curves - it brings up a new layer - then i click Ok. Then the Curves window is there and RGB is set at the top
<0> Maybe it has somehow been reversed? If i move the curve to the right (which I have normall done) it now darkens, but if i move it to the left it will lighten. Is it performing the same function that it used to, but just in a backward fashion?
<1> double-check the colour mode
<3> moving the center to the left would normally lighten it in rgb
<4> am i here?
<1> no
<4> coole
<4> ircle is wierd...
<4> cool.. borland is bring back the turbo languages :)
<0> gary, do you know what the deal is with the Curves I mentioned? sorry, got disconnected
<1> well, cmyk and rgb are very different colour modes, one's additive, the other subtractive
<1> make sure you're in the correct colour mode
<1> they're the opposite direction in the curves pallette
<5> extra credit: "K" in cmyk stands for_________________
<1> heh
<1> amazing how few people know that
<1> it's sKarlet
<5> amazing how few give a ****
<5> not one student ever asked "Why K? why God why?!!!"
<1> heh
<1> oh, i've received images in cmy mode before
<1> sickens me
<1> what shoul dbe a beautiful, deep black in parts of the image is instead a murky brown
<3> sad very sad
<6> anyone around ?
<6> I'm a noob photographer with a point and shoot
<6> and i have a question about ISO setting
<7> whats yer question
<6> well
<6> Why do I get less grainy photos with iso 80
<6> as opposed to iso 800
<6> And when would the use of ISO 800 be needed ?
<7> the lower iso is for bright light situations
<7> iso 800 would be for fairly dark pics
<6> ok
<7> iso 800 in other words is much more sensitive
<6> so the camera accepting more light allows for more graininess
<7> yes it tries to take more information
<6> I get really nice and crisp pictures when i set it to 80 + flash + dark places
<7> right
<6> ok cool
<6> So I'm not longer using my auto mode
<7> my camera begins at iso 200
<6> because it uses too high of an iso
<7> so most of my pics are shot at that
<6> i kept getting grainy pics until i found iso 80
<7> well auto is for the most part useless
<6> ahh ok
<7> except for snapshots by non photographers
<6> I have a canon SD600
<6> it's pretty nice
<7> you got any pics online?
<6> well i could email you one i just took in the dark
<6> with iso 80
<6> and some i took out at a lake using auto lol
<6> And I know how to resize them so they aren't 6 megabytes :)
<6> guess that doesn't answer your question haha
<6> nope non online

<7> ok well you should get a free flickr account or something
<7> flickr.com
