<0> How would i go about implementing a perl script that checks the "established" and listening connections on a system, without having to to explicitly do a system call to `netstat`? Any lead would be appreciated, thank you.
<1> Uhm, what about checking out that traffic monitoring script?
<1> MRTG - multi-router traffic grapher

<0> Would that help me with checking the currently listening ports?
<1> Hang on, that uses NNTP if I remember correctly.
<1> It tracks the amount of network traffic, so yes, I'd ***ume so.
<0> I'm not fond with parsing already available command outputs, would rather manually call system functions.
<0> Checking MRTG, thanks.
<1> I meant read the script and see how they did it.
<0> Reading about it now.
<0> Doesnt seem like i have it installed :\ downloading.
<0> My ISP requires me to authenticate through a web browser before giving me internet access, i have a cron script that automatically sends a POST request to the authenticating page that keeps me alive. In that script i used to ping a host located at my ISP so that i may check if my internet connection is up, however that host has disabled getting pings. Would sending an http request to a random webserver be the way to go, or is there a better way?
<1> I normally ping google in my software apps to check if the PC is connected.
<0> ooo, i can ping google.
<1> Might not work - you might not be able to reach past the gateway before authenticating.
<0> oh wait i cant :(
<0> wait yes i can lol.

<1> If you're just logging into a proxy then all protocols besides HTTP should work provided you're connected.
<0> it's nice to see people too the initiave of making Perl application servers.
<0> that "WIRM" one looks most promising so far.
<0> Everytime i see the word "nibble", i picture some breasts in front of me.
<2> kinky
<0> look there ------>
<0> lol
<2> I'm going to that beach in the south, I think it's called 'oceana'
<0> You're in lebanon?
<2> *nods*
<0> Oceana is nice, way too commercial these days
<2> We shall soon see, I need teh sun!
<0> I as well, sunday was cloudy, i'm so pissed >.<
<2> I'm out, have fun
